Update in the works

I am well aware that some of you have been experiencing some performance issues with the game, and I am doing the best I can to correct this in a coming update, so that you with low-range computers can also be able to enjoy the game. But please be patient, I am just a single developer and a game release can be very stressful even for a big team. I am also having my holiday break like the rest of you.

And to answer some of the less-than-friendly comments: Try to provide some constructive feedback instead, so that I can help you to enjoy the game as well.

Thank you for your patience and happy holidays!

About This Game

One Late Night: Deadline continues the story of One Late Night, a horror/mystery game where you play the role of an office worker caught in the middle of the paranormal activity that has broken out in a seemingly ordinary office building. Freely explore the 5 story office complex that houses several different companies. Look for clues around the offices, read newspapers about local events, hack your colleagues emails – anything that might tell you something related to the strange happenings.

You arrive at your work late in the night. The rain is pouring down and a storm is closing in fast. Everyone has gone home for the day a long time ago, but the lights in the lobby are still on as usual. As you enter the office complex through the main entrance, you immediately feel the emptiness and begin to go over in your head “what the hell you are doing here in the middle of the night?”, when you could be at home getting some well-deserved sleep. However, while your mind is clouded with the details of your precious deadline, you are unaware of lurking danger in the building and what has occurred during the night. Something has been set free; something that’s not from the world of the living. The shadowy and long hallways beckon you as you attempt to unravel the mystery that has befallen the unassuming offices. Has everyone really gone home, or is someone or something still here?

Facts

  • Objectives
The entire game revolves around completing objectives and other small tasks. These objectives may trigger at certain points in the game or by witnessing certain events. The objectives does not all have to be completed in a linear fashion, and some does not have to be completed at all.
  • Cellphone
You can use your cellphone as a light source in dark areas and shine in the direction you look. You do not have to go on a tedious battery hunt for the flashlight, but it will drain over time. The battery will replenish automatically over time after you put away the cellphone.
  • Parallel dimensions
One Late Night: Deadline brings you a parallel dimension where you might see things otherwise not visible to the naked eye. So, if things look bleak and you’ve lost your way, use your cellphone to tap into this mysterious second dimension and things will soon become clearer. But beware; you might see more than you wished for.
  • Computers
Along your way you will come across computers that can be manipulated. You can use these computers to gather clues and information by reading employee emails. However, some computers are locked and require you to use a password, but if you are stuck you can try to hack them. If you find a Hack disc it will help you immensely in the hacking process.
  • Drowsiness
When your eyes grow weary and you begin feeling tired, you can head for the nearest vending machine to replenish your energy. If you move around for too long without having a drink you will eventually collapse from exhaustion. Running will make you tired much faster. If you are lucky you might find Dexterity tablets that you can eat along the way and instantly restore your energy.
  • Doors
All security doors are unlocked using keycards. This is the lowest form of security in the building. Some doors also require a code. You start out with a default keycard that lets you in through some doors.
  • Save game
You can save the game progress by using the coffee machines located conveniently around the building.
  • A real world
All the environments are designed from a real-world perspective and based on a real office building for authenticity.
  • Your choice
You choose the outcome of the game by either completing the game in the quickest and simplest way or by taking the long route and digging deeper.
  • A full soundtrack
A full OST composed by the talented Pontus Malmquist, known for his outstanding music from the original One Late Night.

Worst game performance I've seen in while. I can't even crack 30 FPS with the lowest graphics setting and all effects turned off, on a brand new GTX 980.

AVOID as long as the game isn't optimized.

There are some serious framerate issues with the game right now. I have to turn the Graphics settings down to 'Simple' to even get a playable experience (and my PC has handled much worse)

Overall the game feels like it was rushed out too soon and needs an update. I have gotten stuck in elevator walls and the animation to drink from vending machines clips into the wall. Some of the monsters will clip through walls/floors which is both terrifying and funny at the same time.

I really enjoyed One Late Night 1 so I am really hopeful for this game. The plot and characters are surprisingly good but all the above graphics issues really are killing it for me.

BRACE YOURSELF for true horror. That is, how SCARY it is that this game runs at 15-20fps on my GTX980.

Changing the graphics options doesn't seem to affect the framerate, either. And no, I'm not using an AMD processor, so that theory goes out the window.

I had been looking forward to this game since the original One Late Night. I wanted to like this game so much, so I ignored the other reviews and bought it anyway. Big mistake. This game is unplayable in its current state. I've even fallen through the map multiple times by crouching.

I don't regret paying for the game, as I want to support the developer. Hopefully this will get patched up and fixed eventually.

In its current state it is not playable, on a gtx 680 with everything on lowest settings I get on average 25 fps. It also has its fair share of bugs too. When it is fixed it could be something great but now it is not reaching that mark.

I want to say at front that I don't recomend bying this right now due to the framerate issues people seem to be having, but I recomend to wait for a while for a patch if it is patchable.

Now that that's out of the way I still enjoy it. I haven't gotten yet to the scary elements of the game other then one scream from a woman but the office building sets up the chilling mood and a believable enviroment for the story to take place upon.

I managed to encounter some minor bugs aswell that while not game breaking can break the immersion a bit:
Clipping issues when using the soda/coffee machine, some animations a bit off (pressing buttons that aren't there, might be because of the low graphics that I had to run to play the game on a reasonable fps) and the lift leaving me to the top of the elevator shaft.

Still the mystery of the game intrigues me a lot and with some small polish to the game, it would rate very well on my books.

If you want see some gameplay here is my video of the game.

this game is literally so terrible graphics wise, control wise, and story wise that it is an insult to steam to have it on here.

Yes, I would recommend this game.. When it gets a few updates.. My gtx780 would get around 15-20 and rarely sink to 5 fps at the highest settings.. If you could fix this.. the game would be more enjoyable and fun to play, cause the framerates really hurt from time to time... Overall the game is fun, and i had a few jumpscares here and there.. hehe..

one more thing.. It's a bit pricy to be in this early stage..

Thanks, if you are reading:)

I would recommend you to buy the game, but don't play it yet. I have medium-end specs, and the game runs at 6-30 fps on lowest graphics. My computer can handle games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive at medium-high settings, this game has framerate issues. Would recommend, but not until a patch is released.

+ The story is very interesting
+ It is extremely creepy when it needs to be which makes it a great horror experience
+ Amazing graphics
- ^^ but because of frame rate issues you can't run the game well with good graphics
- A few annoying bugs like falling through elevator, when reloading on a different floor to the third you can't open any doors and when you go into the other world you get killed strait away.
- probably not worth its money but because im only about 30min through it and there should be a lot more to the game.

I'm recommending this game because if everything is fixed this can be an amazing game.

i think this game has an interesting story and quite astonishing characters in it the only problem everyone has is the frame rate but if the frame rate issues get fixed this will be an amazing horror game to play

Wow...I am so disappointed. This game is unplayable in its current state. I do not have a "low-range computer" yet I found the framerate so painful to look at that I quit the game within the first couple minutes. I really hope there is an update to fix this soon.

Looks good, though I'm keen for those performance related updates.

As it currently is, it's unplayable.
(Using an nvidia 560M, which usually runs most games on high, so a game like this really shouldn't be causing so much lag)

Keep up the good work though.
