A fun little game that is great to keep on your computer due to it only being about 7MB. It also has no online features that I know of so you can enjoy this game on the road or if you lose internet or power. The gameplay is kind of a mix between Bejeweled and Scrabble. The goal is to score words by connecting congruent tiles. Bigger words give out more points. Fun to spend some time on

If I were you, then I would buy this game. But, I am me, so I did.
Here's what I can and will say: It's okay. It's a word game. I would like to lodge one serious criticism, however. The dictionary is ♥♥♥♥. It's poop. There are words that I believe should count, however the game does not. It takes some foreign (not English) words, but not others. It takes some slang, but not again, not others. Some abbreviations, but some others. This leads to some amount of frustration.
I'm satisfied that I got my money's worth considering that I bought this on sale for something around a dollar, maybe a dollar and a half. That said, I cannot/will not recommend this game to others, simply based on the consideration of, "Is this worth a stranger's time?"

I love word games, and I like some of the dynamics of this game, but it's really a bit too hard to lose (at least in the classic game mode). This would not be a problem if it were possible to save and exit your game to resume later, but as it is, I ran out of interest in playing far before it actually ended.

It's a decent little time killer, and worth messing around with if you get it in a bundle or such, but probably not worth going out of your way to purchase. (And definitely turn off the music.)

The only verdict I can confidently make is that the main menu music sounds like something straight out of a low-budget horror movie, and there's a weird-looking green worm with a bow tie, and it's smarter than me.

It keeps watching, with a snarky, Dreamworks grin on its face, his expression practically screaming, "Go on, keep trying. You know you ain't gonna make it because I'm better than you. You're going to BURN."

I scramble and the hellfire rains down on the board, devouring the letters one by one, slowly directing me towards my inevitable end, all whilst I'm being watched, mentally tortured, bombarded with the definitions of words I've never heard before.

"You may take me down, you overgrown gummyworm," I say, using my last vestige of breath, as I chain the word "PAIN", awarding me with 400PTS, the library enveloped in a mass of blazing inferno, soon all to become ashes, "BUT YOU'RE GOING DOWN WITH ME."

But I'm fighting a never-ending battle. That worm is still there, I know it. It's still alive.

And it hungers.

Deluxe!

Bookworm?! Что еще за "Книжный червь"?! Вы о чем? Ах, игра с червяком-зубрилой на обложке... Да, да, рекомендую. Только отстаньте от меня.
__________

Personal rating - 6 out of 10

I had no business to attend to, I was sitting on my ♥♥♥, dreaming, thinking about things... Then I noticed a cranky green worm peeking at me from under his huge glasses like saying "Come on, dude. I am a game known by only 5 people on Steam! Go on - write a review on me! Be like no other!" And so I did. Because it's not just Bookworm! It's Bookworm Deluxe, got it?! Deluxe! Like a condom brand. Easy to remember.

Jokes aside, I spent more than 10 hours playing that game, making words out of colored tiles with letters on them. The longer the word - the bigger the prize. Adding green tile to a word earns more points. If red tile reaches the bottom of the screen, all the library goes to hell and Game Over... Also XP and levels of progress are included. And the most important thing - refreshing your English language and attention skills.

Try it. If you dare!

Good for tuning up word skills and passing the time, it's easy to lose track of how long you've been playing.

I love this game. It's perfect for when you just want to chill with something relaxing and it also challenges your mind and keeps you thinking. It starts off really easy to gain points and gets progressively harder as you move up in levels. I love trying to beat my record of points.

This is not my kind of game, at all, and yet I still recommend it. Why? Because, for a certain group of gamers, this game could easily be a blast. The best comparison I could really make is that it's like a combination of Scrabble and a word search, and if you like both of those things you're almost certain to enjoy this game. Basically, you are given a screen of letters and need to string together letters to form the best words you can, with longer words and the use of rarer letters earning more points. Each time you form a word, the letters you used disappear, leaving the others to collapse down and new letters to come from above to refill the screen. You get bonus points for forming the bonus words or using the special colored tiles to form a word. But, beware, there are also red tiles, and if they reach the bottom without being used, the game is over. Therefore, this is a great game for anyone really into words or needing/wanting some more practice to increase their vocabulary or English skills. There is a lot of really great opportunity here to challenge yourself as well, since the only real limit is what letters you get and what words you know (or can guess). I have to admit, even not being into word games, I did get a small surge of satisfaction each time that I found a high-scoring word, so I'm sure that those who do enjoy such games will really love it. So, yes, I do recommend it, for a very particular set of gamers.

I do recommend this game as in the main it is fun. The music is really annoying however. The most frustrating thing by far is resetting your word if you make a mistake. When things are getting frantic the amount of times I have lost because I have tried a word which was wrong and then ran out of time trying to reset the word back to zero before attempting another word. Perhaps I am doing something wrong but there is always a letter left over which messes everything up. You will know what I mean if you play it. It is a good game for passing time or playing on a laptop.

If you are going to buy any Popcap game, this is the bad boy you want.
I remember playing this when I was little and finding it so much fun, I guess it’s a good game for kids. It tests your knowledge and it’s just a challenge to see what you can come up with.
This game is a real classic in my eyes, I love it, it has no fancy graphics and it isn’t pushing my computer to the best of its ability’s but it’s fun.
The only fault I could find with this game would be that I think, not sure, but think that it is americanised, so it has words I don’t know and doesn’t pick up some words that I do. But it is easily worked around.
It’s a good little puzzle game, and from what Popcap games I have seen so far, it’s one of their best.
Worth a go if you are a puzzle game lover.

For anyone who wants to improve their spelling/vocabulary or just sharpen their word power and wits, this is the game. It is both fun and addictive. I've played this game for many years and never get tired of it. Whether I'm bored, impatient or stressed out, this is the game that takes the edge off. It deceptively simple but keep at it and it just gets more challenging as you go along. My top score is just over 1 million. Beat me if you can.

Dear Bookworm
By: Arabell Canne

Dear Bookworm,

You are looking awfully green today. Are you nauseous or envious? Or perhaps I should use easier words to find and spell, like “sick”. Four letters should keep me from a burning square, right? I know you don’t like three letter words or even worse, contractions, abbreviations, acronyms, proper nouns and profanity. Where did you get that bow tie? It is very stylish, attractive, marvelous, stunning … I hope I don’t sound too wordy. I am trying to expand my vocabulary … and those glasses. The love and hate I have for you is so confusing. I get mad at your tiles but I don’t really want to burn you worm. When you ask me to search for a specific word it frustrating and when you define something I already know its insulting. Also, I know you have something against words more than twelve letters but mathematicians need to study quadrilaterals and veterinarians need a way to express their individuality. I know that I pick on you but I really do like you. You provide endless hours of entertainment. Thank you for killing my time and eating my letter tiles. You get an 8 out of 10.

Much Love
-Arabell

Pre-Release Review
BookWorm is a great game for all ages. Its a great game to keep up your vocabulary why learning new words. It is like a version of boggle were you have to find words to spell from the letters laid out in front of you. The game is great and has alot of class to it. The goal is to make as many words as possible from the letters that you see and the faster you are the better off you'll be. The graphics in the game are simple and fun to look at. This is a great game for kids to learn how to spell words. This is more of an office game while you have time to spare. I highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a mind challenging game. Ive really enjoyed it and i know you will too!
