Howdy.

If you're considering buying the Necromancer Lilith for Gauntlet, let me give you this breakdown of her from what I have played so far.

LMB - Her basic attack has a weird blind spot. She hits enemies directly in front of her and summons a sweeping attack a bit ahead, enemies in that blind spot can more forward and hit you due to the slowness of her primary attack.

RMB - Her power attack will kill powerful enemies on a fairly direct hit, but has a splash attack that will at least stagger enemies. This is the bread-and-butter of her abilities once you start to use her special/space ability.

Shift - Her shadow walk skill that lets her pass through and damage enemies is a fine skill, very similar to the elf dodge-roll except it also damage enemies and helps to charge her soul meter. A nice escape tool that isn't as survivable as the dodge-roll, attempting to pass through huge walls of enemies will get you hit with a short delay at the end.

Space - Her ability to summon skeletons is her de-facto special ability that sets her apart from the other heroes. She has five ticks on her special bar, and a further five that increase the power of her summoned undead minions if you can completely fill it out. Failing to completely fill it 100% results in weak summons while the others can hold their own. Testing on Catacombs 3 Unfair Difficulty (with the two mummy and one skeleton summoning stones on the right-side passage) she is able to, with some patience, force her way into the area and damage the stones and eventually get a victory in this room, did it with one death.

On the all in all, without a lot of masteries or large amounts of practice, I put her above the Warrior and Elf, but just behind the Valkyrie in terms of OP. She is nowhere near the WIzard levels of OP, but she can, in multiplayer, turn the tides of battle quite well.

Lilith brings a handful of abilities to the fray, each one building her little power up bar allowing her abilities to do more damage and raise minions to fight for her.
- A side-swipe attack for weaker foes and small mobs. Note that the attack is like a pole arm so enemies directly in front of you won’t be affected, but five or more can be swiped from a distance.
- A strong attack, summoning a lumberjack troll just long enough to pound the ground. Great against summoning stones but tricky against monsters that move a lot especially in higher difficulties.
- Ghost Walking – my personal favorite. An escape when you get surrounded and also a way to build your soul bar. Not high in damage but useful nonetheless.
- Summon a skeleton. Brings minion from the underworld to your aide for a short time. They are just as fragile as enemy skeletons but you can summon five at a time and the only limit to how many you can have is as high as your graphics card will allow. Warning: Lag will happen.

I master the Necromancer. And she's overpower.

Ability:

1) Each enemy you kill, you take a soul to fill the (double) bar.
First bar filled (5-6 souls): minions with swords
Second bar filled (10-12 souls): minions with axe - more damage

Minions/skeletons are:
- a temporary shield, especially with summon towers
- attack and damage a lot (especially those with axe)
- they follow enemies
- they attract enemies, allowing precious moments to all players

2) Normal attack - She hits enemies directly in front of her with two skeletons that sweep left and right alternately.
Medium ranged, slow but good attack, but if an enemy manages to get very close and entering into the scope, sometimes the attack gets no time to reject it, giving it time to hit. So be careful.

3) Heavy Skeleton Slam - A skeleton came out from an underground coffin and hits forward with a big hammer, hitting a circular area that has in the center the point of (instakill) maximum damage.

4) The ghost walk provides to the necromancer a great escape, damages and slows enemies when it passes through. But also makes she vulnerable in the moment at the end of the move animation.

Only negative: the minions have a color often very similar to the enemies, this can be confusing.
They should change it to purple, a color that characterizes the necromancer.

A GREAT character, especially in coop with a melee char, like warrior or valkirie.

If you like Gauntlet, i suggested absolutely to try her.

I like the new character. It's easy to play, but takes time to perfect. Solo the colusseum if you want to learn how to use the character. As for her abilities, they complement each other well. The weak side swipe ability moves monsters back to the ideal range to hammer them into the ground. The hammer is extremely powerful when you line it up right, but it takes time to get good with it. The skellies are decent tanks, but they aren't programmed to try and avoid anything. They get 1 shot from a lot of mechanics. I think this character is worth the $5 they're charging.

Love it. As others have mentioned, there is learning curve because her attacks will skip over enemies right in front of you, but this is mitigated somewhat by the fact that she can teleport, which helps getting to a proper spot. So, what you end up doing is getting in a few quick jabs in order to summon skeletons, and depend more on your skeletons to fight for you. A plus is that the more enemies are on screen, the more opportunities there are to summon skeletons, making for some epic battles. I find this style of play quite fun, and a nice departure from what I think of being "Gauntlet". Certaintly not some pay-to-win OP character, but I like that. If the play-style sounds fun, go for it.

There's nothing technically wrong with Lilith. She plays well for what she has and brings a lot to a party. That said, the only reason I bought this was to support Arrowhead. I knew I wouldn't like her. Aside from her Ghostwalk, I find Lilith's magic to be comical rather than dark or morbid as it should have been. She suffers from the "necromancy = skeletons" stereotype which is rather shocking, considering that Arrowhead is responsible for Magicka, a game with such excellent magic and a dynamic spellcasting experience beyond all others. When I think "necromancy", a giant skeleton materializing from thin air, dropping a megaton hammer upon thine enemies, is not what comes to mind.

Actually, a debate could be made that Lilith does not fit in with the other classes. She can flood the screen with minions and be in very little danger. All you need do is Ghostwalk among the outskirts of a horde, surround it with minions, and support them as necessary. Basically, her output is much greater than her input. This goes against the fast-paced action and challenging experiences that are core to this Gauntlet and are present in the other classes.

In closing, if you like summoners you'll more than likely enjoy Lilith. If you ask me, three magics based on skeletons is two too many. She should have had more options to play with as does Merlin, or at least a better variety of spells that are as interesting and practical as Merlin's.

Awesome character addon. Adds new depths of play to an already great arcade game. Feels like a balance of the Wizard and Warrior. The ranged attacks are awesome and I like that the heavy attack doesn't leave you completely exposed. I died a lot until I got used to her special. Summoning monsters is awesome and in a big fight you can find yourself continuously summoning skeletons which means an an endless army of minions! Her phase attack is instant like the Wizard phaseshift or the Elf dodge but leaves her quite vulnerable when she comes out so make sure you have a good exit strategy because she doesn't take damage well compared to the other characters (I would say even worse than the Wizard).

Lilith the Necromancer is a great addition to Gauntlet. A easy to learn, hard to Master addition to the game. She immediatly finds a nice fit between Melee and mage without being overpowered. Her range is slightly further than the Warrior and Valkaryie, but it's slow and has a number of blind spots. Enemies can creep past and damage you. But, killing enemies allows you to summon minions to do battle on your behalf. These minions and a good set up can hold the enemy back for quite a while and give a good push. (There have been more than a few occassions in unfair difficulty where I was the sole survivor. I kept going by backing off, and summoning minions to create a wall and building enough kills to ressurect my allies.)

Lilith, as stated earlier is easy to learn and hard to master. You have to learn the pros and cons of her playstyle. Don't stop using the character, keep trying different things. Lilith's not a pushing character, but is more about a solid sustainability. Lilith is easy to sustain, and can keep fighting for a while, even drawing attention from enemies.

If you're looking for a new character to add some more to the game, then get Lilith.

Lilith is very fun to play, There's nothing quite like striking down your foes from behind your wall of skeleton-minions and "ghostwalking" away when thing get too hot to handle. :)

Imho its really worth it. If u like the game, the necromancer fits u. The playstyle is different to the others and at first easy to handle. I'm still not that good in managing with the "dead" spot right in front of u, where with the primary and secondary attack no damage is dealt and u are very vulnerable. But the ghostly dash-away, the looong range of the secondary and the skeletons are great abilities and very mighty, if u master them.
A huge skeleton and orc army in front of u, moving to attack?
5sec later u stand in the place with dozens of skeletonwarriors and the last enemies dying^^.

Though i really hope, there will me more DLCs of this quality in the future - not with new chars, but with new areas. The recycled arena-levels are not THAT exciting over all.
So long.

Recommended, it's well put out and FUN to play. It seems pretty powerful too so far, or at least it does a decent job at dealing with the mobs of enemies.

i would not reccomend anyone ever buy this DLC, very very boring class to play, all you do is spam X and summon minions, it gets old quickly.

Horrible class. Terrible attack animation/range. If anything gets in front of your face, which it will, you'll get ♥♥♥♥ed like a little ♥♥♥♥♥. It doesn't help that you visually lose your character insanely easy among the countless enemies and summons (that offer nothing in the way of preventing enemies from getting close to you). So enjoy those parts of the game where you can't back yourself into a safe corner with your pretty long range, because as soon as something gets past you'll have to pray for luck and dash somewhere else, hoping you don't get ♥♥♥♥ing instagibbed the second you finish dashing.

Five dollars wasted, would not recommend.

The DLC may be a bit pricey, but in my opinion it's very worth it. The Necromancer class is fun and different than the others. She is very powerful in the right hands, but is also soft as the end product of grass when digested by the cow. If you're not always on your feet you will get eaten, a lot.

Absolutely love her attitude though, she is a very good option for coop in the harder difficulties.
