Driver San Francisco is livin it's name. With a good story and good graphic even at the lowest settings!.
Well this game isn't for any 2005 ish computer or leptop but it manage to keep up with my 9 years old leptop.
And I'm getting 115 fps at the menu but sadly 15-20 fps. Sometimes in the trafic and or police chase its droping to 5-8 fps.
Still a good game with good graphic at the lowest setting. I rated this game 8/10. Keep up the good work :D

It pains me to say this, but I cannot recommend this game on PC. It's one of my absolute favorite games of all time, and I've sunk many hours into it on the Xbox 360 version; I can't name another game like it. The sensation of having the entire city at your disposal, taking down enemies by ramming buses into them, getting behind the wheel of a favorite car at the touch of a button, it's all unrivaled and absolutely amazing. It's a mix of just about every one of my favorite racing games all in one wonderfully cheesy 70's-esque package.

However, the PC version has given me far more trouble than it's worth. I successfully played through the story once, then switched it on and found all my progress was gone. My save file was also wiped. Turns out if Uplay can't connect and upload your cloud save whenever it is you shut the game off, it just uploads a blank file and eliminates all your progress. Okay, fine, I started keeping a backup. Then, on my second run, my Xbox One controller's vibration began just going full-tilt and the buttons unresponsive, forcing me to unplug it and close the game. This reoccured very, very often, and if your controller disconnects, it will not re-detect it, forcing you to close the game and restart every time.

Then the audio managed to blow out my headphones. And to add injury to insult, it deleted my save again, this time on the last chapter. This hurts me. I love, love, love this game, but in its current state, it is not workable. I want to recommend it, but only if you have the saintly patience to back up your savegames absolutely constantly and be ready to reboot the game over and over. (Deleting the intro videos helps on this front, at least.)

Unlike other users, I won't compare this to Grand Theft Auto or complain about it not working on a Mac. Instead, here's why you should consider this game despite the mixed reviews.

+The driving is pretty solid with a controller. It's a driving game, don't go using a KB+M.
+The SHIFT system is just plain badass. Losing a race? Just throw a bus at them.
+The story is very cliche, but hell it's fun to notice the gradual mentions.
+Some missions can be really difficult, but the only time I actually ended up mentally handicapped was when I forgot I could use SHIFT. So the difficulty curve is, so far, fair at 5 hours in.
+The game lasts about 9 hours, so it's got some meat to it without dragging on and on. There are a ton of stuff that could take you a solid 20 hours to do though, like stunts and dares.
+The cars look and sound bloody amazing. It's from 2011, but I had to make sure this game would run smoothly! Sure enough it does. Optimized well even for it's age.
+There are a few abilities you can unlock as you play through the game, and a few upgrades if you want to make things interesting.
+The garages are pretty neat, giving you the option to buy multiple garages to increase your income over time. You can buy new cars from lisenced manufacturers. Audi, Nissan, RUF, and Ford to name a few. Take your pick.
+The music is definitely good. Fitting given the atmosphere.

-Barriers. Trying to pass through them is fine and won't actually do any real harm, but you're locked out of areas of the city until you progress. Only takes a couple hours though, but it's still not a good thing.
-The story is locked behind a number of side missions most of the time, even though this is explained in the story early on it still feels like a poor development choice.

Overall I'd say it's a solid choice if you're a Wheelman like Tanner, but don't forget this is a DRIVING game. You won't be hopping out of your car any time soon. Not that it's a bad thing. Being behind the wheel is a much better place anyway.

Once you've tasted the newer, better racing/action games, Driver San Francisco isn't relevant at all. Maybe back in 2011, the game was better received and I know I'm playing this game years after release however, the gameplay is simply not fun enough to keep playing. I'll elaborate in the CONS section and now focus on the positives of DSF.

PROS:
+The visuals are very good for the characters. Cutscenes are well done and almost believable.
+Cars models are well modelled. They almost look life-like and that is impressive for a 2011 game!
+San Francisco city is big and well modeled as well.
+Some users mentioned the game doesn't have a big car selection but I'd say 100 cars is decent enough!
+The SHIFT ability is the game's selling point. This gives you the possibility to "swap" into ANY other car in the road. If the new swapped car has a passenger, they still see you as the original driver and this can lead to humorous dialogues if you drive crazily or carelessly! Basically, SHIFT = TELEPORTER!
+3440 x 1440p and 21:9 support. Game do support that resolution but the screen looks enlarged. Maybe a scalling issue?

CONS:
-In Driver San Francisco, you are stuck in driving cars. You won't ever walk out of the car and do other type of action. A step backwards here!
-Game is plagued by invisible walls, disabling you if you cross those red walls and failing missions. Poor mechanic that requires you to progress further into the story. Basically, this isn't a genuine sandbox game!
-Controls are atrocious, especially for a recommended Keyboard+Mouse scheme. I gave a shot with the Xbox 1 controller and the accelerate RT button doesn't work properly. Thankfully I do have a Xbox 360 controller so I could play this game.
-Biggest gripe is the forced races of the secondary "missions". You HAVE to do them because you can't progress into the strory mode, everything is locked out. And that is a huge boring grinding fest... a shame! And these secondary missions are truly awful. A mindless grinding way for the "upgrade points".
-Poor A.I. Traffic ignores you, pedestrians always in the way and the game seemed scripted to spawn annoying cars or obstacles right in front of you when you least expect it.
(In exemple: When you are a driving a police car and put the siren, traffic doesn't even react to this and drives like @$$es they are... even raming into you. WTF? GTA had this resolved so long ago!)
-Seems to me that 50% of the missions you drive is with a mission-specific car. So you thought racing your way with that sweet new modded car? Forget it! Also, you cannot customize the mission-specific cars.
-TRULY AWFUL soundtrack selection. My ears are still bleeding from the complete noise selection the devs chose on this game. A real pity as Driver used to have good music!
-Story is quite uninspiring and even sounds like a repeat of past Driver games. Always chasing after that Charles Jericho for 4 times now!
-Tanner's original voice actor got replaced. WHY? Used to be Michael Madsen and now replaced by such an unoriginal voice actor, emotionless.

OVERALL:
Clearly, Ubisoft doesn't know how to make good racing games. The Crew was a pathetic attempt at bringing friends together but the DLC overpowered the progression system. Driver series used to be decent, challenging and better thought out but Driver San Francisco undermine pretty much the few PROS this game has.

RECOMMENDATION:
ONLY IF YOU'RE A DIE HARD DRIVER FAN!
Or if you have played all racing games there is and haven't gave this one a shot yet!
For others, skip ahead and play something better like probably any Need for Speed EA games who does it way better than Ubisoft at racing games! (I'm not pro-EA in any way but clearly, they do make better racing games than many other studios!).

Having played nearly ALL of the Driver series since the first one in 1998. I do enjoy these sort of games and here is why I would recommend getting this game if you like driving games in general. Driver San Francisco is probably the best from the bunch that I have played as they have thrown in a lot of vehicles that we can play with or crash with. About 95% of the vehicles in the game are real life that are officially licensed from the brand owners such as Chevrolet, Dodge, GMC, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo etc. However I am somewhat surprised that there is a lack of Honda, Mitsubishi, Subaru and Toyota cars and vehicles as that would have added a lot more variety into the list. But let's not forget that the game does have a total of 140 cars and vehicles in the game. So you may get to drive your favourite car in this game. However on the positive side, you DO get to drive a Lamborghini and the RUF (those are modified Porsche cars) and Pagani Zonda. The car models themselves do kind of match those from Gran Turismo 5 as the handling and physics feel quite realistic to me.

The storyline is quite interesting to me as with some of the missions. It involves using multiple vehicles to complete a scenario but I am not going to ruin it by saying anymore. So you will have to find out by playing the game or by watching a "Let's Play" on YouTube for example. But to round off my review here on a high note. Reflections Studios/Ubisoft Games have done a great job on making this segment of the driver series a very nice detailed and a fun game to play with plenty of challenges to suit most if not all players. Also there is side missions in the game that can be accessed via free roam that you can complete to access even more unlockable goodies to enjoy.

For the price. You do get good value and replay life in this game and also don't forget that this game does pop up in the Steam sales. So if you are into driving games. Then perhaps consider getting this one to add to your video games library.

I have two major warnings for anyone who wants to buy this game:
  • As with apparently every Ubisoft game these days, it installs Uplay on top of steam, meaning you gonna have two app services running when playing. Both Uplay and Steam can be played offline, but either way you gonna have to create a user on Uplay, and the process is harrowing to put it lightly.

  • Don't play with a keyboard. The experience is 2000 times worse, due to how the game handles wheel turns. You see, a single key press to move left or right on a keyboard automatically turns the wheel to it's maximum spin. But for almost every car in the game, a maximum spin causes your car to drift automatically. This means that keyboard users will experience drifting even in the slightest turns, for example when moving from one lane to another on a highway. As a result, playing becomes extremely frustrating and maddening, since you can barely control your car to do the simplest things. Now, this improves a bit as you progress through the chapters and buy better cars, but because the game's various missions occasionally put you in different cars altogether, not to mention the shift mechanic, you will feel like pulling teeth during most of the experience. For your own sake, do NOT play this with a keyboard...
If these warnings are not relevant to you, then I think you'll enjoy the game. It has an excellent car selection, a fun and natural mechanic which allows you to take control of every car you see on the road, an interesting cop dramedy with funny characters, side missions with lots of laughs and plenty of chases/races of all kinds.

Didn't really like the soundtrack. Some tracks stand out... but, most are just annoying. It's an okay soundtrack, but I guess it's subjective.

Also, you can only equip cars you buy inside garages. It's really tedious... You have to shift to a garage, select it to enter the garage menu, select 'cars', scroll down the huge list of car manufacturers, then pick the car which you bought from the entire selection, then exit the garage menu, and then watch a cutscene of your car driving outside... And all of this instead of just having a button to spawn your favorite vehicle? Why...? It could've improved the game so much, being able to do that...
You're probably thinking I'm just whining too much, but you have to understand how contrasted this issue becomes, due to the fact that cars have health bars that don't regenerate or heal ever. Once it's down to zero the car is totaled, and you have to shift all the way back to another garage to do the same thing all over again. Or instead just shift to another car on the road, which isn't as fun to drive as yours.
50% of the missions you drive with a mission-specific car, by the way. So you won't get as many opportunities to race with your own cars as you'd like to. You also can't customize them in any way, beyond getting some random body color when they spawn. Yep.

So that'd be my two cents on this game. I'm giving it a 6/10, brought down because of all of those small things I specified, Uplay, and playing with a keyboard. Personally I think that NFSU2 is the better game, although both have problems. I think if someone combined all of the good elements from both titles, they could potentially create the best racing game ever made. Maybe one day...

Anyway, I can't really recommend this game to everyone, as there are too many issues, but I think racing fans will enjoy it.

I hate to admit it, since I despise UPlay, but Driver: San Fran is a fantastic game! It's about five years old now, but it has aged very well. The gamepad support is fine and the graphics far exceed what I'd typically expect from a game of this age. There are a few quirks, like the lack of a proper chase camera and cars that absolutely can't turn without power-sliding, but what remains is still very enjoyable, indeed.

When playing this game, it's very much evident that Ubi went all-out and spared no expense to create a masterpiece. The UI is extremely well polished, the voice acting is spot-on, the stable of fully licensed vehicles that can be unlocked through gameplay is perhaps the most impressive I have ever seen in a video game, and the in-game radio is loaded up with smash hits with a very appropriate thematic bias towards Motown soul. And the map? It is instantly recognizable as San Fran. Let me tell you, slaloming down Lombard in a Lambo while listening to Aretha wail is really something special (think chase scenes from The Dead Pool).

Overall, this one is a gem and I regret that it took me so long to discover it.

Ciò consiste nell'entrare a piacimento in ogni vettura dell'immensa città, in ogni momento.
Veramente troppo poco, siamo lontani.

Effetti sonori: 9 - tutto ok.
Musica: 7 - decente.
Gameplay: 9 - semplice, facile, e divertente.

Voto complessivo: 9
