Small Post Holiday Patch! (Version 1.16S)

Hello All!

Just getting back from the holidays and tossed up a couple quick fixes.

- Fixed an issue with the Against All Odds achievement not triggering in a specific setting.

- Corrected an issue where illegal file name characters in a guild name would prevent the game from saving. It will now strip illegal characters when creating the file name.

We should have some new stuff in the testing build in the next week or so, but just wanted to toss these quick corrections out there for you all!

It's A Wipe! Patch 1.15S!

Hello All!

This patch is mainly to address an issue where certain users with non-English characters in their Windows profile name were unable to save the game. There are also some minor spelling corrections and a small change in tank setup.

Here are the detailed notes for 1.15S:

- Configurable Save Game Path -

If you experience consistent problems saving the game, you can now configure the save games to a specific path. You will need to open the local game files and go into the Common directory. Open commonConfig.xml in a text editor and add the line (with the actual directory instead of the XXXX):
<SavePath>xxxx</SavePath>

*Important notes: Do not use a closing slash, and all slashes are forward slashes. For example: <SavePath>C:/Temp</SavePath>
Would be a valid entry.

If the game saves for you normally, we don't recommend trying to switch to using a different setting.

- Tanks With No Targets -

In the raid role setup if you have a character assigned as a tank, but give them no targets, they will now switch to be DPS.

- Me No Type Good -

Fixed a few minor typos in item descriptions.

That's it for now! Happy Holidays! And, the next update will likely be after Christmas :)

About This Game

A game of fantasy guild management! In It's A Wipe! you assume the role of a guild leader within a fantasy game world. You must recruit other players, lead them to victory against increasingly difficult odds, and make sure that your group remains happy enough to stick with you!

The game is done in a style reminiscent of old school role playing games. While the 'game' within It's A Wipe! is supposed to represent an on-line game world, this is really a single player game. The game play is a mix of strategy, in that you need to figure out an effective plan to beat the encounters, and management, in that you need to balance the various needs and desires of your team of players.

While the game does revolve around trying to win battles to progress, it's not your typical RPG combat. As the leader, you do not directly control your group. You set-up an initial plan, but your group members may decide to go off and do their own thing! You can shout a command at them each turn to try to keep them in line, and do your best to keep them happy with items and by paying attention to their needs.

System Requirements

    Minimum:
    • OS: Windows XP or newer
    • Processor: Anything that should run windows should run this
    • Memory: 2 GB RAM
    • Graphics: Any OpenGL Compatible card
    • Hard Drive: 200 MB available space
    • Sound Card: Any OpenAL Compatible Card
    • Additional Notes: The game is designed to be fairly light weight. It should run on almost any system.

I would like to see a better graphics engine to support this game. The current one works but I feel I should be playing it on Facebook or an app on my Kindle. As many have already stated, if you have been in a hardcore progressive guild in any MMO this game is very similar in offering the complex problems of keeping people happy to "raid" with you. ( The whole GM simulator concept is great!) I have kicked 3 or so for fear they would bring down my guild and in the end they have all got pissy and left anyways. Dont buy this game for the graphics, you will be disappointed. Buy this game if you have "been there done that" in MMOs and tried to keep a guild progressing and have hit these various speed bumps that the game offers you.

I saw this game on sale, and thought "What the heck, I'll go for it." I had an hour before I had to leave for work, so I thought I'd give it a go. Over an hour later, I casually looked at the clock and grabbed my coat and RAN out the door, racing in traffic to get to work on time before I was late. Barely made it with a few seconds to spare. I'm normally a guy who shows up early just because better safe than sorry.

So I would say this game is pretty spot on. Think of a group of raiders, in any game you could play. World of Warcraft, Ever Quest, Final Fantasy Online - just to name a few. Then, take that group, and think of them as real people (we all know that you picture some guy playing a chick character just to stare at pixel booty all day) - Not to say they aren't, but the perception of most people is to look at who they are, and assume everyone else is a robot or just some random nobody.

This game is full of comedy - Everything from "Killalot talks about his political views" to a person "Afking in the middle of combat to check his email" - And will remind you of what really happens. I love when I tell a tank to take over agro, and the tank (who is better geared and more able to do so) cannot pull agro off the first tank. I love when a mage just happens for wander into creature range and gets attacked wildly. I love when the healers forget to heal because they think a tank is good, and start to dps, letting the poor tank die because the fight required a focused heal at specific times. Just like in real MMOs.

This game is easily one of the more addictive games, and as my first day playing, it has already caused me to come close to being late to work AND caused me to rush home just to try to see how far I can make it after the fact.

I really like the game so far. It's been interesting to get into the mindset of a kind of manegement position for these "raids" rather than being able to control anybody's actions directly. This game has so far been full of funny moments (when a healer alt tabs right before finishing a big heal is great).

I have a couple of critisisms though.

Switching tanks mid-fight seems so difficult as to not even be worth the effort. One of my warriors has one extra piece of gear over my secondary tank and that seems to be enough for him to take aggro on every creature even if he isn't attacking it.

Only being able to make one command in a turn can get really brutal when things go wrong (if more than one player decides to switch roles, for example). It would be nice to be able to do more in a given turn even if it was only sometimes.

I'd like to see more flavor in the combat log, more classes, more raid abilaties, more everything I guess. I'm excited to see if this game continues to grow after release.

This game is more than worth the price of entry and I will be spending a lot more time with it in the future.

This game shows exactly what its like playing in a hardcore raiding World of Warcraft guild, just without fighting for a raid slot. Or the the dramatics. Or the guy blasting his horrible soundtrack in vent. Or the guy asking to post DPS charts after every fight. Or all the males hitting on the one and only semi attractive female player. Or the hardcore raiding World of Warcraft guild. Or the World of Warcraft.

11/10.

It's A Wipe is worth the money for the nostalgia factor, but most of the game feels relatively spartan in features or gameplay. Generally, the game consists of managing a sitcom-version of a guild raiding party in an indirect fashion with breaks in between; additional characters or other amusing features that one think to find in a game about managing a guild are absent.

Further, the game is quickly over -- there seems to be only 7-8 raids -- and some of the mechanics really need some work, particularly infighting over loot. This can make the game frustrating and the game itself seems to have relatively little replayability; which is odd given that the overall concept of the game, if developed, could provide for a fascinating guild management game.

The problem with that is that the game not developed sufficiently; it is, as stated, feature light.

With that said, it's five dollars and I had trouble not liking it. For that price you get what you might expect. I would tepidly recommend the game and hope the developer fleshes out the features of it.

Pros:
-Interesting concept.
-Nostalgia.
-Humor is good.
-Good framework for a game; seems easily developed.

Cons:
-Relatively thin in gameplay depth; feature light.
-Sometimes frustrating.
-Sometimes boring in some fights; cannot manage one's own character.
-The UI is really very ugly.

Fun game for the price. Battles require thought after the early dungeons are out of the way, and keeping everyone happy about loot is a bit of a challenge. Your raid's strength grows noticeably over time, and some of the character actions can be amusingly nostalgic if you've ever raided in an MMO (like someone going link dead, or a mage deciding to tank). MMO experience can help you get a handle on strategy quickly, but I don't think it's a requirement to enjoy the game.

The character quirks don't impact the gameplay too much, so luck isn't a huge factor. Fights boil down to managing the raid strategy (like DPS, healing, and tanking priorities) and figuring out boss patterns. I'm impressed by how well the game simulates the raid management experience ("WHY DID YOU DRINK THAT POTION INSTEAD OF HEALING THE TANK?!?") without getting bogged down in micromanagement. Fights can drag on at times, but hey, they're raids. They do that.

It would be great if characters had more personality, or if raid groups could be bigger, or if character abilities were more varied. For the price, though, those aren't complaints - just wishes for a DLC/sequel someday.

Ragequit

- The closest thing to the MMORPG "you know what it is"
- You will fight Orcs, evil dwarfs, and trolls who somewhat had better gear than the whole civilized world!
- Healer why you suddenly want to DPS?
- Dammit, why the main tank need to answer the door?
- Can you take care of your cats when raiding?
- Why its high time to argue politics?
- Why this piece of gear never drops?
- And when it drops why it never drops for me?
- Fed up Ragequit.

If you have enjoyed an MMORPG in the past then this will probably bring back some memories, lighthearted nostalgia and quite humorous to see ranged DPS trying to tank and members pets assume command of their keyboard.

I'm loving this game. It reminds me of what it's like to slot people for a raid including the need for an excel spreadsheet lol. But the best thing is that you have no one whining at you over Vent.

Awesome game. Well worth the money if not more. The game throws curveballs at you that you need to react to in the planning stages and can make the experience more interesting, the weighing of morale and loot drops to manage your party size, as well as distribution of said loot brings a new dynamic that I find interesting. Will definitely be recommending this game to my friends.

For £3.99 this game is a steal. I task you to find something else to do for only £3.99 that will keep you busy for hours.

You can't even buy a pint for that for christ sakes.

While I've only really just started playing the game I'm blown away by all the features and immensly fun gameplay, despite my rogues squabaling over gear! Sure its not going for any graphical awards, but its quirky and reminicent of an age of Pc gaming when it was at its finest.

I've played WoW and messed around with other MMO's but never really had to time or commitment to put into actually raiding with other people, this game gives me a taster of this experience with none of the hasle. Despite what other people may say I think the game does have replayabilty, not only because of the increasing difficulties but also because there are several ways and raid composits that the player can employ to defeat raids.

I sincerly hope the developers of this wonderful game continue to produce new content, including other members to recruit and new raids to explore. I will certainly be keeping my eyes peeled, and I hope others will be too in supporting the game.

I have but one quivel with the game, and that is the text font and the lack of guidance in the tutorial - that being said I got to grips with it easy enough, I just think it could do with a little more highlighting the things that are happening or forcing you to use some of the many raid commands to change tactics or healing targets during a raid.

Right, now I'm going to go see if i can stop Medic from spouting his political views whilst I'm raiding!

If you used to do raiding in MMORPG's (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing games) then you may enjoy this game.

You assume the role as a guild leader and make plans on how to deal with bosses that you encounter, but it isn't as easy as that. You can make plans on how you want to deal with the boss that turn, but your tank might tab out to read his email or your healer might decide he wants to tank.

A varity of things can happen while your raiding and you also have to keep your raiders happy else they will leave you to join another guild including with any loot you happen to have gave them in past runs.

Overall it is a great game for it's price but I'd recommend playing it while watching a movie or playing another game as it is fairly slow and your raiders are doing all the work you just give them the command on what to do.

At first I took this game as a tongue-in-cheek poke at the classic MMORPGs. After playing it for a few weeks - this is what I have to say about it.

1) It has its own style and character. Crappy Graphics. Cheesy Music. Wouldn't change a thing!
2) The raids actually feel like raids - you have to figure out their mechanics and set up your team accordingly.
3) The raid members whine, stand in the fire, goof off, and go link dead ... so real to form
4) This game is a substantial nod to a very popular Level 0-60 MMORPG. Not mentioning any names :)

For the game's price - I would classify it in the "High Value" category and I would highly recommend it to anyone that has ever done a raid in the older MMORPGs.

Exellent background game.

As an active game, it's a wipe is like a real mmorpg raid, its fun to do one raid once or twice after that its on farm status and then you get bored with it, but you have to do it anyway to be strong enough to advance.

This is where play in window comes along, you can do lot of things on background, play browser games, watch movies so on, and just click orders for next turn time to time and let your raiders do the fight.

Is it worth it ? With that price yes, the game is unique experience but its not a piece of art, you won't play it over and over just either bit or once trough.
