About This Game

Wild Frontera is a top-down action shooter set in a western-fantasy world

You are a lonesome gunslinger, that will have to get rid of hordes of enemies and defeat spectacular bosses in order to escape to the frontier.

Armed with a rusty six-shooter that you can swap very quickly for new weapons, for a fistfull of dollars looted while playing the game.

Ultra fast single-action revolvers.
Long-range rifles with impressive damage.
Or, if subtlety is not your forte, devastating shotguns : deadly in close quarter combat but leaving you with a very small margin of error.

Fun, nervous and difficult, Wild Frontera offers non stop action, worthy of the best western movies, where every detail is a nod to the spaghetti genre

You will encounter stereotypical villains, outlaws, wild bloodthirsty animals and more...

You'll travel across grasslands, the darkest forests, fields of bones, deserts, a gold mine and towns in order to escape this crazy country and discover why you are now the most wanted bandito in the wild west.

Features

  • Play solo or online co-op up to 4 players
  • 8 stages with 17 boss fights
  • Mouse / keyboard and gamepad twin-stick support
  • Procedurally generated weapons
  • Online leaderboards for single player runs
  • Challenging gameplay with fast respawn checkpoint system

Twin stick shooter? I DARE you to play the only F'ing "twin stick shooter" that I had to change from gamepad to mouse and keyboard. Impossible with the gamepad. This is no twin stick shooter by any traditional means.

They want you to be so deadly accurate with the aiming. Bullets will zip by enemies with less than a millimeter between them but if there is a trap on the ground, better be a mile away from the thing or you're dead. Guy throws a bomb and you're just outside the circle of damage? Dead. Devs, at least be consistant with the BS.

Bombs: few and far between, if some bs happens like your guys gun seems to jam 50 times in a row or you just happened to be within a mile of a trap, you just lost them all and they will not reappear. Doenst really matter, they dont do much damage. You only get three at a time and never go where you want them to anyways.

I quit this game after I finally saved enough money (game is very stingy with money) and bought a good revolver. Next shop, I go to click exit and just happened to hit the wrong button and bought the worst gun in the game. No buy backs, no getting back the gun I worked hard to save for. Yeah, I suppose I should have been paying attention to where I was clicking, but anyone (and im sure im not the only one) could make that mistake with the half- ♥♥♥♥♥ design.

Bottom line: I've certainly played worse, but to say this is a twin stick shooter combined with poor level design gets a thumbs down for me. Other thumb is up my butt.

-The aiming is sluggish.
-You have 3 lives and are thrown into places with tons of powerful enemies making you die all the time and having to start from the begining.
-Can get stuck behind barriers making you have to restart things again
-Killed by things you can't see
-So condenced spaces makes the dodge button pointless
-Bosses are stupidly hard

This game cheats. While you are still trying to learn how to play, it places some weird red particle effect in your escape route, completely eliminating your chance to escape.

The aiming on this game is game is really bad it is without a doubt one of the worst implimentations of a twin stick shooter i have ever played while using a 360 controller.
Graphics are nice and the sound is ok.
Some fun may be had but only get it in a sale.
I would skip it though it left me cold after a few hours.

Set loose in the wild west as a gunslinger out for revenge, traveling towards the safety of the frontier while saving damsels in distress, looting gold and killing as many bad guys as possible. How cliche.. but FUN!

Equipped with a basic pistol you slowly work through the levels collecting loot for purchasing and upgrading of weapons along with boosting base attribute points. Weapons included a range of pistols, rifles and shotguns that all had procedurally generated stats. Levels are generally segmented into arenas, clearing each area reopened invisible barriers allowing further progression until eventually facing mini-boss fights. Each boss used alternate weapons, attack patterns and insults.

Comedy wise it's quite good, bit of a shame there was no voice-work. With a decent little story it really would have added to the overall immersion but the soundtrack and artstyle are very spaghetti western and do a wonderful job on their own. Control wise both kb+mouse and gamepad was suitable and responsive, while all the keyboard controls were able to be remapped

With co-op support, decent price point and tight twin-stick western shooter action, can easily give Wild Frontera the big thumbs up. Did not have a chance to try co-op but I'm sure that would only be more enjoyable. Cheers folks. :)

Wild Frontera offers some incredibly fun gameplay and is a solid Western shooter, unapologetically cliché and a non-stop chaotic adventure. While it's a little on the short side and could benefit from some voice acting, fans of top-down shooters and games with a Wild West setting are in for a treat.

This would be a great Twin Stick Shooter if they had of put some effort into tweeking the sensitivity for the joysticks... or if they even had of put it in the options menu for the user to config...

If you dont mind using the Keyboard and Mouse then this makes for a great game.... but again making a twin stick shooter that is better with a mouse ?

I still have to recommend this however because what ever you use to play it is still a challenging game and looks good as well.

Can't recommend this one I'm afraid. I liked the graphic style and it was close to being good, but it failed on a few fronts. Finished the game in 2 hours, and it spent most of that 2 hours annoying me.

- Most deaths feel due to bad design rather than something I should have seen
- No pause function
- The night levels have really low contrast, so you can't see anything
- Took me 5 stages to realise there was a dodge button
- The guns feel sluggish
- Confined spaces make it hard to avoid getting cornered
- Frequently killed by things I couldn't see

I'm really on the fence about this one. It has good audio and visuals, some good arena fights, and a decent array of weapons to keep things interesting. Unfortunatelythe loose gamepad controls that turn it from challenging to frustrating, and generally ruin an otherwise good game. Using the mouse and keyboard make the controls much tighter, but my I prefer using twin sticks to control a twin stick shooter.

Maybe a couple updates will fix the issues I have with it, but until then I can't really recommend it unless you prefer the mouse/keyboard controls for this type of game.

Edit: clarifying the control issues are with gamepads, not keyboard/mouse.

Nice action game with some nice scenery and good humor. The western theme is a welcome change from the clasical and rehashed heroic fantasy.
A bit short, but the higher levels of difficulty are a good challenge.

Fun game. Challenging, with good graphics and audio. It's like Gunsmoke for the NES on steroids.
