Fantastic hack & slash game with great graphics (for 2011 of course), good storyline and highly advanced co-op play. Just play with friends, and you get a lot of fun.

Although the graphics are a bit outdated, and most of the world textures are of low quality due to the game actually being a console port - the combat is very addictive and fun. The "bleached" out color palette can easily be changed by using sweetFX. The game is stable, didn't crash a single time and works very smooth on maxed out details. I absolutely recommend it!

Too bad most of the map pins can't be accessed and are there just for lore info. But still - you'll get 10-15h from it by just playing through the normal mode. Throw in a couple of friends and you're in for a bundle of fun ^^

It's a good game for fans os The Lord of the Rings. With it you can travel to some places you've always wanted to. It does have some issues while playing by yourself (the companions AI is weak) but with friends it's really cool. So, if you want to know something more about the The Lord of the Rings/ The Hobbit and kill some orcs that's the game for you!

War in the North is a great hack'n slash RPG. The gameplay gets a bit repetitive and grindy, but the story (set in the LOTR universe) is fun and believable. Amazing performance for its graphics. Overall pretty good, can get insanely difficult at times though.

Just started playing throught this with two friends, it's ♥♥♥♥ing awesome.

1. You each have a different role and different gear associated with it
- Champion: Straight up heavy DPS, uses big two handed axes and maces, he can also use 2 handed swords with one hand.
- Ranger: Agile DPS, can dual wield swords/maces/hammers and can use greatswords.
- Lore-Master: Healing and procective magic, she can also use her staff as a melee weapon when needed.

2. ♥♥♥♥ING LOOT IS AWESOME. Each of you get your own seperate loot that covers all 3 classes, so you'll need to take breaks every now and then to give eachother the items for their class and vice versa.

3. Combat is kinda like Dragon Age on a console. You know, the hack and slashy ♥♥♥♥. But it's extremely satisfying for all classes.

The overall feel for the game is kinda like an MMO and Borderlands mixed together, it's really well made and is up to standards even 3 (nearly 4) years later.

If you've got an odd number of friends that you regularly play games with (like myself), I would definitely recommend this to you!

9.5/10

This is an ok game. Very interesting to see another side of the LotR universe, but it gets pretty bland honestly. But the reason I can't recommend it is simply because if you own a Radeon card, be prepared for much frustration. The game is so unoptimized for these cards that it becomes practically unplayable. Two whole chapters require workarounds just to make the game playable. If you don't heed this warning and try the game anyways, be prepared for a lot of crashing, blue screen and every other error under the sun.

An okay game but very limited in what you can do,or where you can go and ridiculously hard at times. You also can continue on after finishing the game by starting again on a higher difficulty level, but everything is the same and itgets boring after awhile, not recomended!

Game crashes over and over again after several hours of gamplay. It is a known bug with ATI video cards and will never be fixed. Buyer beware.

If your are playing this as a single player it might work, however if you are interested in playing this with a friend or two, abandon ♥♥♥♥. Theres plenty of working co-op games out there and this is not one of them.

Here is some of the problems you will face if you try to play this game in co-op:

The game features its own voice chat function which works so poorly that you will not be able to understand a single word because of the bad sound quality. THERE IS ALSO NO WAY TO DISABLE IT. I had to download a virtual adio cable program just so I could actually chat with a friend using another program while playing.

If you were lucky enough to get into another players game, buckle up for strange crashes, disconnects when visiting windows and a good spike in your blood pressure every time you try to give an item to your friend. It will most likely vanish into thin air.

Getting used to the menus will take longer than I ever put into this game since they are made for a controller. There is mouse support but much of it is just nonsense.

I will have to say that the game supports alt + f4 so escaping its horrors is quick and easy.

Wow... just wow
It could be a great game, but why it have to be so an instable one. Sometimes it frozen so much that even the task manager couldn't kill it, had to restart.
And the fancy idea of forcing the low quality mic during the game. Because why not the cavern scenes have echoing effect? Who would like if you cannot understand a dman thing what the others said.

While this game eyes great, it does have a lot of potential. However, various things deny that potential. 5 second knockdowns, your companions blocking your way, no flinching upon being hit resulting in just dropping dead, litte logic within the story line and to much a linear way to play.

Also, having to choose a single class and the game forcing you to play that class till the end of the game, since all the fancy equipment you gave to your AI companions will be gone when you select them. Making sure that once you change, you've got no way to match the equipment to that level, unless you buy yourself the equipment, which is only possible after you've reached Rivendell.

All in all, if the devs payed some more time upon developing the game, it would've been recommendable and enjoyable. Now it's just a frustrating experience I must add. So, if you're looking for a decent Lord of the Rings slasher, I'd suggest playing the games made 10 years ago, or the somewhat newer Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor.

If you enjoy the LOTR story, you will enjoy this game. I have yet to complete it, but I hear it is short. I will update my review once I complete the game.
