What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“ShellShock Live has been community driven from the beginning. Early Access gives us the opportunity to build the game while receiving feedback from players to ensure that SSL grows to fulfill its potential.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to keep the game in Early Access until all bugs are squashed and all planned features have been implemented and tested. We estimate an early 2017 release, but because ShellShock Live will grow and evolve throughout development, we can't be sure of the exact timing.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version will evolve into the Full Version with consistent updates containing new features and fixes. Even after release, we will continue to update the game regularly with fresh content and features based on community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“ShellShock Live is already a fully functional game jam-packed with content. There are currently over 200 weapons, 100 maps, and 80 single-player missions. There are probably a few stubborn bugs here and there but we'll iron those out as Early Access progresses. There are also several planned features that we haven't had a chance to build yet.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will likely stay the same upon release, but may change slightly if significant new features and content give more value than we had expected. We're dedicated to keeping the price low and the game accessible to everyone.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is huge. We encourage you to get involved on our forum (http://shellshockliveforums.com/) and our subreddit (http://www.reddit.com/r/shellshocklive) as well as here on Steam!”

About This Game

ShellShock Live is a strategic online multiplayer artillery game currently in active development by kChamp Games.

Fight Alongside your Friends (Or blow them up... we won't judge!)

Take part in action-packed 8-Player team and free-for all battles. Tactical gameplay is essential to victory, while numerous distinct tanks, weapons, items, maps, and play styles make every match unique.

Way Too Many Weapons

It's a bit ridiculous. Unlock, upgrade, and master over 200 unique power-packed weapons, from the intimidating 'Seagull' to the ever-powerful 'Mega-Nuke'. The best part is that we're building and adding more daily.

Loads of Modes

Armored carnage must get old after a while, right? Wrong. Unique game modes keep things fresh and give you the opportunity to demolish tanks in a multitude of ways.

Become the Best There Ever Was

Earn XP to level up and become king of the battlefield. Play through 100 unique ranks, each with their own rewards and unlocks. Global leaderboards and rankings keep things spicy.

Upgrade Everything

And when we say everything, we mean everything. Upgrade your tank. Upgrade your skills. Upgrade your items. Upgrade your arsenal. All 200+ of the game's weapons can be upgraded to more powerful versions.

Nature Doesn't Stand a Chance

Fully destructible terrain creates a dynamically changing battlefield. Earthquakes and other natural disasters keep you on your toes (just like in real life!)

(Very) Active Development

We've been cranking out ShellShock Live updates with new features and awesome community suggestions almost daily. Check out the Announcements section for full release notes, or join the community on the Forums.

Non-Evil Developers

In-game content is earned by playing, not paying. No microtransactions, no premium version, no bull. Once you own the game, you own everything.

If you liked Scorched Earth back in the 90's you will have a blast playing Shellshock live.

Hold off until release if you can't stomach occasional crashes, a clunky interface, and broken gamepad support while it's in early access.

This multiplay game is so similar to a pocket tank game me and my friends used to play in Informatics class at highschool. Such a good ol' days when we're so sneaky playing local co-op behind teachers. Dang it, time really flies :(

First, some background:
Played the shellshock live series since the first back in highschool. Made the switch from 2 to steam awhile back; I'm level 70ish in this installment (I dont really keep track anymore since level doesnt mean much after you've maxed out damage and traction...)

Take my advice, don't waste your money on this game. If you do buy this game, kChamp's gonna be all, "Well, I have your money. I really don't care what happens now." His coding skills are garbage when it comes to games outside of flash. The ONLY reason this game is still early acces after being out for well over a year now is that he simply doesn't care. He is inactive on the forums and any attempt at contacting him will result in you getting banned from the forums or blocked on steam. (I HEARD he was moving on to work on another game a few months ago, even though this game is still early access. Really shows how much time he put into this, eh?)

Why just recently I discovered that he's gone and censored all curse words period... But the option for the profanity filter is still there. The game crashes half the players on the servers regularly (as in, every couple of hours regularly); whether you're in a game or just sitting in the lobby, the game will crash you out to the previouse menu from wherever you were before. I've been in games where there'll be a small lagspike and then 3-4 players in the game will dc all at once. Sometimes I'm one of those players.

For the sake of hooking more suckerscustomers he occasionally releases new weapons. Some of them are half-decent, and some of them are blatant reskins of older weapons. For example, the bow&arrow weapon may as well be a sniper that does DoT instead of outright base damage (which doesn't really matter anyways given it sticks in you. It does slightly more damage at upgraded levels and takes slightly longer to fire than a sniper, but is still basically a sniper).

There is also the issue with players cheating by using either an aim program or a real-world ruler (yes, a ruler), making it virtually impossible for them to miss. Programs at least provide some evidence that the player is cheating, and the flaw with rulers is that most players only calculate the end point and not the path and arc the shot takes. Wind is also a problem for most ruler users but I've read posts on the forums by people who claim to use rulers and say it's just an extra step to figure in wind... All things considered though, the game isn't moderated enough(if at all) to actually catch and punish cheaters, so you may as well go play tf2.

Backing off from my ranting now, If you are a returning shellshock live player making the jump from an older version be warned, the firing and angle mechanics are different from older games. The same angles and power levels (save for the 45deg angle rule) no longer apply here. If you do buy this game I highly recommend going to the firing range or the singleplayer missions and getting a feel for the new mechanics. Also, there is no such link between accounts to transfer experience, etc. over from a previous game as with ssl1 to ssl2. There is also no buyable content like prestige or weapon packs in this game (via real-world money anyways; you can buy individual weapons, backgrounds, songs, etc. in the shop with Gears, which can be picked up in-game or won via the first win roulette)

ShellShock Live

Positives:
You can upgrade your weapons.
You can kick all those people who are higher level then you, but still lose because you suck.
You can shoot KFC.
You can shoot nearly impossible shoots and flip out when you connect a shot.
GEARZ!!!
You shoot animals too. (We are cruel humans.)
Achievements, just so you can feel like you accomplished something for playing 5 games.

Negatives:
Rage when you miss the sniper or arrow shot by 1 pixel.
Playing with people 50 levels higher then you, and get utterly REKT.
Not get any gears or 1 gear from your daily win roulette.
Raging at some of the most BS Single Player missions. (*COUGH COUGH*CARNIVAL TOSS*COUGH COUGH*)

My Rating: 420/69 You should play.
Do I Recommend: YES! Because you can ruin your "friendship" with that annoying friend of yours.

This game is literally so much "funner" if you learn to aim well, upgrade your tank and weapons, and play the game well overall. The only skill you need in the game is to aim and power properly WITHOUT A RULER HACK!!! I would literally reccomend this to anyone even if their not a gamer because this game is so addicting and fun that you can instantly like it after one or a few matchs. My finaly thought on this game - amazing and keep adding updates for new upgrades, maps, weapons, gamemodes, and just basically anything
