While it is short, and hard to be worth getting the Compond Bow, the Trails are a VERY WELCOME CHALLENGE! Always keeps you on the edge, and very decent stages of the competition, that is a THRILL to play with friends. DEFINITALLY a THRILLING experience for co-op. ESPECIALLY now that it's part of the Enhanced Edition!

Time trials are the cancer of video games. DO NOT BUY THIS as it will be a waste of your money for NO actual fun or feeling of satisfaction when playing it. Vanilla game is fun, this is NOT. Frustration factor is WAY TOO MUCH. The ammount of little ♥♥♥♥ed things that can cost you an entire run are insane and having to start all over is stupid.

This is a great dlc. All the negative votes are saying this dlc is too hard and unforgiving, this DlC is challanging and will take a few trys but was alot of fun. It deserves much higher reviews. You can play this DLC in singleplayer, i have completed it a few times by myself. I feel all the negative reviews are people who have got too fustrated and not being about to complete the challange. I would 100% recommend, i had alot of fun playing it.

Though this DLC can be 30 minutes or less or more the trailer is right: it gets your blood pumping. If you're the type of gamer who just loves getting that rush of adrenaline then this DLC is for you. And when you complete it you get an OP bow and brutally murder your friends :D

The Bozak Horde is difficult challenge for a new player. But for an player who knows how and when to do its piece of cake.
So for the rewards. The bow you recieve is useless + they added a new non dlc bow. Take this dlc if you like challenges. I personally beat this solo pretty easy!

This DLC is attrocious. There's little else that needs to be said.

1: Its difficulty makes it mandatory to play it in co-op. If you're a single player, even if you have a maxed out character, its sill relentlessly hard.

2: Frustrating as all hell, since you have only 3 lives, and once they're spent, you must restart the whole thing from zero. No checkpoints at all.

3: The rewards are very underwhelming. Basically the blueprint for a compound bow that is somewhat better than the base bow from the main game. And an outfit that is so ridiculous you will NEVER want to use it, its basically a hospital surgeon scrub stained in blood. Yay?

4: The story (or rather, the lack of one) is barebones and pathetic. You suddenly wake up in a stadium turned gladiator maze, where some guy named Bozak will make you run this gauntlet of parkour and combat, submitting you to a very rigorous timer, or else a bomb you have strapped to your ankle will blow up. That's it. You beat the trials, he declares you're the new bozak, cue the fade-to-black. At no point do we get any explanation on how we got there, how the heck did Bozak manage to turn the stadium ruins into that gauntlet (Which requires quite a lot of preparation, not to mention capturing zombies and strapping bombs on them), how did he capture our protagonist, why is he doing this, nada, nothing. The story is that there is no story.

This DLC is garbage. Complete garbage. I think the only DLC in the history of gaming that manages to be worst than this one is the Horse Armor DLC for Oblivion. That should tell you something about quality.

This DLC is much poorly designed in the marvelous main game system.

Totally broken balance for single players, and there are no players around here (in Japan). Tiresome sequence of trials without any few chances saving your progress. You cannot even leave this DLC if you do not know how to return to the main story (from the main menu > play > "f" key to options).

spoilers:
1) you cannot use your own inventory.
2) plagiarism on the character of Bozak after the film series "SAW". And I do hate the film series' kid's tricks.
3) plagiarism after L4D2 scavenge. And playing experience in this DLC is much worse than L4D2 scavenge mode.

A DLC for people who want a challenge
8/10

Good: it's challenging and really put your parkour skill to the test.

Bad: it's hard to find people to co-op with. As a result, some people would attempt the DLC solo and result in a not-so-good experience.

Ugly: The rewards are underwhelming.

What an UNBELIEVABLE LOAD OF BS.
What we have here is a new 'mode' that basically forces you into co-op, with 3 'lives', no savepoints beyond the elevator, and a new weapon conveniently tucked away behind this mode's achievement(s), in a grindy set of challenges...
I have no idea what the devs were thinking, but this is NOT what the community wanted.
It's tedious, a lot of the layout and mapping is REALLY COUNTER-INTUITIVE, the map icons can make things confusing as Hell, and the difficulty when playing solo with anything other than a 100% build is suicidal at best.

And that's ignoring the price of this versus the season pass price, the fact that so far the season pass has been MASSIVELY unimpressive in content (BS weapons that are barely useful, anyone?), the fact that co-op and multiplayer are still a nightmare unless you set it to friends only, etc. etc.
I love the basic game, but the DLC so far has been nothing but an utter disappointment, multiplayer is still a mess, and this new 'addition' really doesn't make things better.

This DLC is not designed for single players, playing co-op is the only way to advance through the trials. Single Players will be wasting their money buying this DLC.

Read what Kotaku had to say.

You're under a timer for 99% of the time the entire way, and the time you are given isn't very much to begin with.

Now this isn't a crybaby review, I love a good zombie fight, just FYI this is not for everyone, and certainly not what I expected. Do yourself a favour and watch the first half of a good walkthrough then decide.

Like what's been said already, this is an odd expansion. On one hand I love Dying Light, so naturally I wanted any DLC, but I wish I had watched a few videos of this first. For one thing, videos wouldn't spoil anything, and most importantly it would show you how this DLC really is.

I have more cons than pros (none to be exact) for this DLC. A big pile of ♥♥♥♥.

- A challenge DLC. How original ...
- Multiplayer based -.-
- ONLY a freaking bow which you can use for 10 min and then get bored of it. Great job.
- Restarts the ENTIRE challenge if you die 3 times. Pure ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. 30-40 min down the drain. Thanks.
- EXTREMLY frustrating

If you are that type of person who gets angry very easy like me, DON'T buy this. You will go berzerk and kill everyone. For a measly bow. How rewarding.

While it is fun it just doesn't feel like what a DLC expansion should, it is trials that if failed you must retry over and over again. no saves or checkpoints, I was extremely excited for DLC and the new area is kind of cool but I feel really let down on my season passes's first DLC, but then again it's just my opinion. I can see the appeal but It doesn't work for me.

*edit

This mode, content, dlc, name it whatever you like is by far, the most frustrating, idiotic piece of garbbage I have ever played.

I have been a gamer for a long time and I have yet to come across a more trolling, frustrating game then the bozak horde. This mode does not take the cake, it takes the whole bakery!

The first time I litteraly wanted to punch my monitor. So if that was what the developers were aiming for they ultimately succeeded in creating the most annoyng game since "insert game here"

FUUUUUU really?!!!

From my experience, this DLC is awful, especially for people who dislike multiplayer. You need to make it through over a dozen different challenges without failing three times. There are no checkpoints so failing means restarting from the beginning with nothing to show for it. It a great way to literally waste 30-45 minutes per try. I would have loved to play around with the bow that this DLC offers, but the only way to get that is to beat the challenges which I know I'm going to be unable to do. Overall, it was a complete and literal waste of time and my respect for this game has dropped.

What a load of cheap ♥♥♥♥. Nothing but a bunch of frustrating time trials that basically forces co-op down your throat. This is not the DLC I was expecting and all for a bow and arrow.

If you were expecting a nice open area to explore with all new quests then like me you'll be sorely disappointed I thought the arena stuff was just going to be an extra not the majority of the content.

Waste of money. ♥♥♥♥♥♥ challenge mode for a prize that isn't worth it, requires co-op to succeed no matter what. My favourite part was when the game didn't spawn enough virals for me to kill for one challenge and I had no choice but to take a failure because of poorly implemented design. I want my money back.

As much as I love Dying Light I cannot in good faith recommend this DLC.

The difficulty isn't my biggest gripe. I may be in the minority saying this but i was comfortable with that as I've played the game enough that at this point I'm actively seeking ways to make the game harder on me. The biggest problem I had with this DLC is how much it feels like a slap to the face.

I'd been anticipating the release of the bow ever since I saw the video showing it in action some months back(I really like the idea of filling zombies with arrows). Now the bow is in the game but the only way to get it short of having someone give you one is to run a series of 20 trials on only 3 lives before resetting. Most of my deaths weren't entirely my fault but me falling victim to inherent issues with the game itself (ledge grabs failing where they normally would succeed, etc). And even when you finally beat it and get the bow, it's extremely underwhelming. Clocking in at a little over 300 damage, and considering that the only way you're probably gonna ever see the end of this DLC is at max level where all your weapons are about 900-1300 non-upgraded, it's just not worth it at all.

Bow aside, if you're just looking for a new challenge I still cannot recommend it. Especially since it's basically a 10 dollar mission. After the first failed 4-5 attempts the whole DLC became muscle memory to me. I would actually zone out for the first 14 or so trials having memorized all the bomb locations and efficient paths and only start paying attention when I got to the last area. Then there's the 3 lives limit. I absolutely hate this. "Three strikes and you're out" is not good game design. It doesn't increase difficulty, it increases stress. Difficulty is measured by how much skill is required to achieve victory. This is just a punishment for failing to do so. it's not hard, it's cruel.

I'd also like to mention how if you don't do any missions after this DLC, the next time you load up your game via the Continue option, you're back at the start of the DLC, with an empty inventory.
