I maybe have spent a little time on this game. Being a huge fan helps; hating the Rebel Scum helps more.

I've spent so many hours playing this game. First impressions were pretty mediocre, but once I got into it the pay off was great. Definitely satisfying sweeping the galaxy clean of imperials or rebels in whichever strategy you like.

I'm at a point in my gaming career where I've stoppped caring about graphics as an integral part of a game (if it doesn't need to be to get a point across i.e. a horror game with specific shadowing etc.) so I easily look past the simplicity of Empire at War and just enjoy listening to a podcast or two in the background while I manage and conquer.

Good times.

Ahhh the memories...

I remember this game before it had the expansion, and I remember the funny, glitchy things which as a young kid I did not care about. After the expansion, I remember putting hours into trying to beat the campaign (I was about 10-12 years old), and havinig to reload from the last save on some of the hardest missions ever(many I still remember). I recently bought this game, and, amidst the nostalgia, had tons of fun. My only drawback was I could not get multiplayer to work, and skirmishes get a little boring after a time. Besides a few imbalances (corrouption in galctic conquest, Garm Bel Iblis, etc...) the game is very enjorable. If you have not played it, get it, If you remember playing it, get it. Probably one of the best RTS games I have played.

Star Wars Empire At War Gold is a super fun RTS game. It allows you to take control of either the Empire or the Rebellion (Also a faction called the Zann Consortium in the forces of corruption). They both play uniquely, and differ majorly on tech, the rebellion stealing tech from the empire, and the Empire making their own. You fight for control, sending fleets of starships into battle over planets, before launching seperate ground forces to completely conquer the planet. The gameplay is good, easy to control units and good user interface for anyone just coming into the genre. The Forces of corruption is a good addition to the game, allowing you to corrupt planets as well as take them over, giving you access to lots of nefarious things, even allowing you to enslave certain races, using them for cheap soldiers. The game is very good, and I give it a 8/10.

To this day hands down the greatest Star Wars game ever made. I am sad you can not play online anymore but times change and mod creators are here to keep things alive with changes they have made.

The galactic campagains in this offer a real time strategy experience, but one that can last for hours if not days instead of 40 minutes unlike many other RTSs. Although be warned if someone plays Consortium you are in for a rough time of it!

The fleet units are quite faithful to the rest of the SW lore but you might spot some discrepencies, the Starvipers shouldn't be in production this early, and the Mon Calimari's ships are a little to identical compared to how each should be its own work of art, but other than that.

And then there's Vader's Executor. OH. MY. Ghandi. WHAT.

Star Wars Empire at War combines a great combination of ground and space combat which not only looks great but also plays well.

The game works around the idea of a galactic map with planets that you control. these create a general map that you have to conquer, each planet can change control to whoever conquers it and has two levels of defence that you can have.
Ground defence allows you to have fight in traditional RTS ways where you have to eliminate the hostile forces to capture the planet or stop an invasion force.

Space combat allows you to bring large or small ships into combat using RTS gameplay, this creates great combat and gives you the oportunity to play as you want. there can also be a space station and defences that you can build / destroy making space combat vary in each fight.

the game in general is good fun for anyone who likes RTS games with a unique take on the genre. i find that it is enjoyable and the game has its own fan made expansion which completely overhauls the game and changes the empire and rebels to republic and federation. This allows for an entirely new type of gameplay as the new units have far more weapon spots and units which makes your screen light up with turbo lasers.

the expansion however can run a bit slugish if you go insane and spam battledroids as the game tanks and doesnt run too well.

in general i would say if you like RTS conquest games then give this a shot, its pretty cheap now and the free expansion Republic at War allows for a near whole new game.

Star Wars: Empire at War is definately a piece of gold for the star wars fan.

You can be 3 Factions, The Empire, The Rebels and a third non-canon one called the Zarn Consortium

You have the chance to build any kind of thing that has existed in the Main Trilogy, from the Humble TIE Fighter to the Mighty Death Star, you even get to blow up planets!

The only downside is the age of the game, some people will be turned off by the outdated graphics, specially in the land battles, the space ones look gorgeous tho, and are always enjoyable.

Must buy for the Star Wars/Strategy fans out there!

Im not a real big RTS fan but being a Star Wars Fan i tought i would give this a go !! I remember playing this years back.I think this game has one of the best tutorials i have ever seen in a RTS game hands down.Even thoe this game is old it still holds up to most of the RTS games of today, even thoe like i said not a fan of this genre ;) I think one of the coolest things in this game is the Cinamatic View button during battles.

So if i think this game is real good and im not really into RTS games, i think any RTS fan would love this game 100% Star Wars or not !!

This game is amazing, sure its a bit buggy but the epic battles you can craft and the amount of lasers firing on screen is enough for me, plus the game has a very strong modding community so you will never get bored

This game is a blast. Although ground battles are fun, they are not nearly as awesome as the ones in space. But thats not suprising, becasue who wouldnt want to witness an imperial fleet have a three way (i know what I said, and I meant it) with rebel and consortium fleets, dukeing it out over an isolated hutt astroid station. Doesnt get much more epic then that!

As a fan of Star Wars and RTS games this one really hit the spot.
I actually have more play hours in it than my Steam says as I owned it on disc quite awhile ago. Played through the campaign and a couple Galactic Conquests as both sides.
Love it.
They should make a new one...

One of the few good Star Wars RTS-Games (I only recall Force Commander being okay as well).

If it's on sale, definitly buy if you like Star Wars and RTS games.

I recommend installing MODS, there are quite a few nice ones. My favorite is "Absolute Corruption Mod" - basically better looking models and a lot of new units known from other games or novels. The "Clone Wars"-Mod is also nice, as is "Republic at War".

Can't describe the excess amount of fun I have with this. Best RTS star wars title out, 10/10, probably my most favoured and liked game of all time, the mods are broad, and the one I utilise "Absolute corruption" adds amazing new planets, missions, characters, ships, ground forces and more...amazing game, would buy for its cheap price relative to hours of fun I've ever gotten from this, originally had the disc edition but transitioning online to steam's version is so useful, modding is so basic and the rewards are eternal. Buy this game!!!!!!!! classic.

Ah empire at war, this game is a good one. One of the few space RTS games I have played, possibly the only one I have played that lets you tear ships apart peice by peice. It has a whole mess of awesome starwars stuff, heros, and a pretty fun single player conquest system that supprots mods and can be done in head to head mode.

Some of the awesome things in this:
-heros from all the sagas
-one of em rides a rancour!
-3 major factions with a good sized tech tree
-mods to include up to 6+ factions(thrawns revenge)
-ewok suicide bombers
-admiral ackbar, ITS A TRAP!
-SUPER STAR DESTOYERS WITH PLANET KILLER WEAPONS!!!!
-the motherfukin deathstar(yes it blows up worlds)
- land battles and infastructure(cant take a planet if it has troops on the ground)
-much more as well.

I bought this years ago on disk for 30 bucks, and again on steam for 10, as I type this I see it goes on sale often for less then 10. If you love starwars and want a great rts go buy this.
