About This Game

TERA is at the forefront of a new breed of MMO. With True Action Combat - aim, dodge, and time your attacks for intense and rewarding tactical combat. Add the deep social experience of a MMO to best-in-class action combat mechanics for a unique blend of both genres. Play now for free!

Experience an action MMO that goes beyond "point and click!" In TERA, it's your skill, position, timing, and aim that determine the outcome of combat—not how quickly you cycle through targets with the Tab key. If you prefer to lie down on your couch while playing games (we do!), you'll be happy to hear that TERA also offers controller support.

Team up with friends to take down Big Ass Monsters or put your combat skills to the test against other players in one of the many PvP battlegrounds TERA offers.

Customize your choice of seven character races and nine classes with unique battle styles. Fight thousands of monsters throughout a variety of landscapes, and embark on thousands of quests in a game world rich in history and lore.

In a truly free-to-play experience. TERA imposes no artificial cap on classes, zones, or what you can do, or how good you can be - all of the content in the game can be experienced without paying a single penny. To support the continued development of TERA, we offer account services and cosmetic items - costumes, accessories, weapon skins, mounts, and more. We heard players on Steam really like hats...

Whether you fight as part of a guild or join an alliance, being part of TERA's vibrant community means that there is always someone to share your journey with.

Tera is a pretty sweet game, unlike most mmo games this is very quick paced action mmo, ive grown bored of slow paced mmo games where ya cast a spell or ability over and over again and just stand their taking the beating. in this game your always running around, jumping and dodging while quickly executing your spells/skills. im still pretty early in the game, hopefully it will keep me addicted for a good while.

There is something wrong with this game, it makes my system unstable to the point of nearly crashing when it starts running.

Honestly I want to love this game I really do but I can't. First off it is a grindfest which I can handle since the combat is fun as hell but that is really the only good part of this game to me. Classes are genderlocked well the new ones anyway which sucks. questing is boring as hell. Oh did i mention how the new classes are better then the old ones normaly? So unless you want to play a female stripper or a loli do not touch this game.

It's like the developers of this game is trying to make this game as unappealing as possible to anyone who's not into loli's.

I have quit playing Tera and most MMO's but since my experience with this game and its developers/support was quite interesting, I feel that many others may want to hear about it. I just can't do MMO's, my self esteem demands I take my suck elsewhere, I only quit because I can't tank as a warrior.

It's definitely a fun game with a big RolePlay and raid community, but it has very standard (grinding, RNGesus, quests) aspects that do not make it shine.

Like I stated before it has excellent RP and dedicated player groups, but I am here to tell you what makes it different.

Tera has a business model revolving around optional purchases, where nothing is 100% unobtainable through f2p. I approve of this (games cost money guys) and am glad that nothing is game breaking (mainly cosmetics and consumables).

Wait every MMO does that? OMGE WTF maaan

Of course, but I have a tale to tell. One that might set this developer ahead of others who make similar products in this cash money MMO world.

For reasons I will decline to share, I faced the daunting task of needing a refund for 3rd party purchases made through Steam. If you do not know how Steam handles 3rd party payments made with steam wallet funds it can be summed up as "Not my problem". However error occured and I contacted the developer (through a ticket on their support site) about needing a reversal of funds. There was (possibly still) a banner above the "create a support ticked" stating basically that there was a major backlog and support may take a month to reach. After filing all of that information through the dev I chose to get into contact with Steam support (as the purchase was made with their apps wallet) because if the support team at Tera actually took a month I would most likely never get the cash back. And since it was Steam unless I wanted to lose my account and all my games, chargeback (purchase was in error, and I don't use this as a first resort, only after getting in contact and exhausting all my options with a seller) is not an option.

This is the good part, when Steams mighty centurions of mechanically destructive auto support decided what needed to be done was the locking of all my most recent (even months old!) game purchases, the locking of trading and market, topped with the fact that they didn't even answer my tickets questions and addressed everything OTHER than my problem with nuclear force.

After ~4 days of waiting eventually I got a real boy (assuming blame for such a stupid combination of actions only could be placed on automation) and after 3 messages (over a few hours on the final day) Steam saves the day and unlocks my games, that were seperated by over 30 days of time from the addition and error in wallet funds. All in all Steam made my days a lot harder and solved absolutely nothing. Effectively wasting 4 days, Steam had maximized my saltiness.

But wait! There's good news! I soon received a response from the Tera Support team apologizing for the error/troubles I had, accompanied with a confirmation of all my funds being returned directly to my Steam wallet! After thanking them and writing a ****in' awesome review through the "How did I do" standard linky, I proceeded to review what I had learned.

Steam likes to put out fires with earthquakes, and call it 'gud'
(Addressing my very plain and well made ticket with completely unreasonable big brother seizure/locking of seperately purchased games)
Steam managed to confuse me so much I actually had to seek help
(I understand a 'naw bruh, no can do' but locking my games and not even reading my ticket??)
Tera's support not only exceeded expectations, but managed to return all funds without having their day(s) ****ed by Steam.
(I am in the same TZ as Steam's main HQ and they were harder to reach than the edge of the universe riding a snail)

The big picture? This game is cool as heck, nice people and fun gameplay (controller support?!?!?!?!) coupled with reasonable devs and functioning support.

Since I can still manage to use Steam today even with my clinical salt poisoning and permanent dumbfounded expression, I will share this tale and hope someone will see this and decide to try it. It's ****in' free and the developers and support really deserve the cash from those cosmetics. If you ever want to try a game with fun combat mechanics and a good group of people try Tera. The devs work really hard and provide better support than a 1.5 billion dollar corporation (who managed to forget the word 'no' and immediately go WW3 on my ***).

TL;DR Life is pain, Tera is fun and the devs are more than amazing, even when you forget the terribly low bar some games set for developers.

I used to like it years ago but now it's below the line of fun? As soon as I seen it put onto steam I had to play it again. It feels like another game ruined with updates as soon as I hopped in. There is class restrictions which I hate so very much and mostly because it forces me to play as like a sexualized little girl or just a girl for any of the new classes which I mean I am a guy so it's kinda annoying mostly because I was expecting to be able to play as one when I hop into a MMORPG. So all in all if you haven't played it before it will still be fun though the change seems to have even messed that up but if you have played before and are now just wanting to play again after a year or more just don't lol I mean like you will be dissapointed.

A wonderful, beautifully rendered game, that as far as I've played, doesn't have any game-breaking bugs. Servers are up when you need them, and updates happen reasonably often.
However, as much as I feel that gender and race-locked classes are absolutely idiotic, the classes are worth playing a race/gender you don't like.
However, due to aforementioned idiotic gender and race locking some of my favorite classes, I won't play it anymore, unless I'm playing with friends. All personal preference aside, it's definitely something I would recommend to someone who isn't like me, and can get over gender and race locked classes.
7/10
10/10 without Gender and Race-locked classes.

Great game and all but endgame is BORING as F***K, I only recommend this game IF you are new and have fast download speed at this game will take HOURS or even DAYS to download or just wont download at all and if you're a returning player and havnt experienced anything post-ninja release. other wise than that then i wouldnt recomend it. 1.) Tera is sadly dieing 2.) Tera is FULL of elits(meaning everyone is basically max level and fully geared) 3.) Goodluck getting into a max level dungeon cuz if your not geared properly expect to get kicked out immedietly. 4.) there's just barely any new players so expect to see some areas and some cities/towns to be pratically empty. so yes, i recommend only if your a new player or re-turning player POST-NINJA realease.

As much as I love Tera, I have stopped playing it due to mostly being unable to enjoy the newer content.

Every new class is female exclusive, and the female only Elin race have TWO exclusive classes while no male has a single one.

You can only enjoy the new classes if you want to play as lolicon jailbait.

I'm done. No more of this repetitive grindfest of an MMO. Leveling from level 1-65 was decent fun, but everything falls miserably apart at endgame.

You simply can't run most of the level 65 dungeons without running the dungeon before it dozens and dozens of times to get the sheer number of materials needed to create/upgrade gear. Even if you are so skilled that you can handle every endgame dungeon wearing entry level 65 gear, no party will take you because of your gear. So, you can either get used to doing the same dungeon many, many times, or swipe that credit card to speed up the gearing process. The loot-distribution system is horrible, with anyone being allowed to roll for any piece of gear, even if it's not for their class. A boss may drop gear for your class, but then some prick who isn't even playing that class could roll higher than you and swipe it. The game encourages this too; there's no consequence for taking gear you can't wear, there's only the benefit of being able to dismantle it for materials. Still, once you finally do get all the gear pieces you need, you're in for a whole new hell that you'll have no choice but to endure. Enter TERA's enchanting system...

To call TERA's enchanting system terrible would be underselling its horridness. It's a heavily RNG based system that wasted a lot of my time and caused immense suffering and frustration. When you get what you need to upgrade your gear, it will go up to +1 (if you succeed). After that, the materials needed are almost doubled. It continues to double until you're at +14 and need a crazy amount of gold to upgrade to the final level of +15. What makes all this truly awful is that any enchantment attempt can fail. The chances lower each time you succeed, until they ultimately reach abysmally low levels. You'll constantly hear people in Velika crying about how their gear failed to upgrade dozens of times. I promise you, there are few feelings more empty than spending dozens of hours farming the gold you need to upgrade your gear, and then watching all of it disappear in a failed upgrade attempt.

PvP is the same sad story as the rest of the game; it's extremely gear reliant and requires intense grinding to compete. If you don't do this, players who have been playing for much longer than you and have fully upgraded PvP gear will ruin you effortlessly, laughing the whole time. There's an equalized battleground, and I think it's a lot of fun. However, it really does become a chore when you need to grind this around 100 times in order to get the materials to craft passable PvP gear. There's a decent amount of PvP content, but most of it will be inaccessible to you if you do not grind to acquire and upgrade good PvP gear. Rest assured that PvP really is not fun when you're getting steamrolled because your opponents are repeatedly insta-killing you.

The amount of grinding this game forces you to do in the end-game is what ultimately drove me to quit. Levels 1-64 were fun because there was constant progression. The endgame replaces all of that with grinding and insane RNG where all the odds are stacked against you. My personal recommendation is to stay far away from this game unless you have no problem with grinding your trousers off. I almost wish this game was filled with even more repitition and RNG than it already has. Maybe then I would have reached the epiphany that I wasn't having fun sooner than I did.

I like the game because of the Story and Dungeons, the BAMS are also really fun to fight, The community is trash at times, but the people I have met are very nice and supportive, while the other half of the community is very salty and rude. I love the game because it is fairly easy to solo, but. I do not play from the STEAM launcher anymore. I find it easier to use the offical launcher, I have over 2000 hours played outside of the steam launcher, I have been playing the game for 4 years, I know this review won't be very helpful, but what I am saying is that the game is really fun and if you go to the right servers Highwatch for example. You will find some really nice people that are supportive like my friends, (I have over 100 friends in TERA because I have socialized with many people) The game is really fun, please do try it out and join the highwatch server if you are interested in trying out a new MMO | w o )/ Bye everyone!!

A lot of people complain about the gender lock for the new exclusive classes, but that doesn't mean TERA is a bad game, still one of the best MMORPGs out there.

I used to play this game a lot back in 2013, I recently came back to the game and tried to play it again. It sucked, that was some serious anime ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t with some oversexualised 12 years old girls. Beside the game hasn't aged well at all.

Overall, I found TERA to be a bombastic mix of bleeding edge graphics and blazing gameplay in an enormous persistent world. I cannot express how much the change to action combat has enriched an already competent MMORPG.

For an MMO that you can truely play for free, it is amazing. Although it has great players, good dungeons, and a variety of classes to choose from, some of those classes have restrictions. It is understandable that a class will have a race restriction, but it is quite odd for their to be a gender restriction. Enable to be a brawler class in the game, you must be a human female in order to play. Even though the game is sexual in itself, it does not bother me at all. MMO's usually have the good ol' "girl wearing a skimpy outfit" and this game really uses that to it's full power. All in all, a great game to shave off some hours in your life. Though using a proffesional PC would be advised, as it has only tiny lags for my computer but it doesn't mind me at all, it's only because I push the graphics and there is a lot going on in the hack n slash like fighting.
