About This Game

Description

In Grow Home you play as BUD (Botanical Utility Droid), a robot on a mission to save his home planet by harvesting the seeds of a giant alien plant. On his quest BUD will discover a beautiful world of floating islands that are home to some rather strange plants and animals.
Grow the giant plant and use your unique climbing abilities to reach ever higher ground, but be careful…one wrong move and it’s a long way down!

Key Features

Climbing: Procedural animation allows you to move BUD's hands independently, creating a unique and unrestricted climbing experience.

Growing: Guide and ride the giant alien plant as you create your own pathways in the sky. Everything you grow can be climbed on. Use it as a bridge, a safety net, or simply as a tool for artistic expression.

Exploration: Explore every nook and cranny of the alien world as you hunt and collect crystals that can enhance BUD's abilities. It’s a physical playground and many of the alien plants have unusual properties that can help you on your quest.

I was wondering why this game had so many negative reviews. It seemed everyone said that climbing is tedious and movement is poor. I took that as a challenge to see how fast I could get to the top.
7 min and 34 seconds is how long it took me to climb from the very bottom to the flower on top(I fell a couple times). It takes 1 min 20 seconds to fall to the ground. Just figured I should say climbing isn't hard at all and does not take forever.
Tips:
You just have to use the bouncy leaves and mushrooms to get up faster. To land you pretty much have to grab something. The jetpack is not really meant for you to fly around, it is meant to be used to stabilize and slow down your speed. Also I would suggest NOT using a controller despite the game saying it's better with a controller.

There were a couple glitches with this game though. Whenever I load the game it is just black and white with no textures. I figured out how to fix that one though just by going into settings and resetting the graphics settings. Also my right arm just decided to stop working once so I had to restart the game. Nothing that was really a big issue.

But I finally got a game with a set style, mood, and unique gameplay mechanics.

Now I'm going to go back to throwing sheep off cliffs and drowning chickens.

I know the second game came out today, but I only just got this one so I decided to write a review of how I like it so far. It's very addictive and fun with a unique style of graphics and controls.

However, after playing for half an hour, I over shot a check point and ended up dying. I had to climb all the way to the top again which took another 15 minutes from the last spot I had reached. I just got finished getting back up to the check point and decided to quit the game there for the day.

Thigs that could be improved:
If check points were closer together I would love the game more, but even so the game is adorable and fun.

I recomend the game to anyone who likes games with a kind of rag doll phisics, who are good with using controllers (there is also an option for keyboard), and anyone who can handle not rage quiting from dying...repeatedly. I love the game and will probably play it to the end.

Really cute hidden gem, definitely worth the price if you want a few hours of relaxing platforming with some beautiful scenery. On top of all that the game doesn't have Uplay!

"The game has pretty good reviews, but the game looks so... underdeveloped." - Me, 5 seconds before I hit, "Add To Cart".

I'm not sure why I bought it, to be honest.

Grow Home isn't your average game... but then again, neither was Undertale.

When I dropped in as B.U.D. , I didn't know what to expect. Adventure game instincts kicked in and I I just ran around climbing on random objects, pulling these crystals out of the ground, collecting stuff. Completionist urges overwhelmed me easily. I had to go touch everything, no stone unturned. After a good half-hour or so, I took a breather, got a bottle of water and then I sat there. I looked around, and just took the whole game in.

Growing home is therapeutic. One ride after the other, zipping around in the air with flowers, jumping on newly sprouted leaves that send you soaring into the air... you are the cause of this beautiful world coming to life. The game no longer felt like a compulsion to collect everything.

I recommend this game to everyone, of all ages.
So do yourself a favor, and Grow Home.

i love this game. It is a bit of a chore in the first 20mins or so but once you get high into the sky it gets so fun sailing around with flowers and discovering new creatures.

The best way to describe Grow Home would probably be a minimalist collectathon, akin to the games abundant during the fifth generation of consoles, with a big focus on maneuverability. BUD's clunky, yet flexible controls mix with the design of the world to create an engaging experience. Every move you make feels important, especially as you climb higher and higher, as one miscalculated jump or grab can pretty much cut your exploration short. You navigate islands, both bound to land and floating in the sky, finding food for a giant plant as it slowly spirals upwards towards your ship. Along the way, you search huge landmarks for crystal shards to gain new abilities, as well as scanning wildlife to gain better knowledge of the planet. If you enjoy calmly paced yet charming games full of discovery and precarious platforming, you'll probably love Grow Home.

Its a Fun Little Game With small ammounts of glitches but its a fun game to play through and as ive grown a little bored of this game as i do for all games it was fun to go on this ride with B.U.D and M.O.M (P.S.M.O.M is very encouraging and i thought highly of this Character)
