Game Update 172848 Now Live - 04/07/2016

Update Information

Hey friends!

A new release has arrived! This is primarily a batch of bugfixes and small improvements across a variety of areas in the game, as well as some modding updates. Enjoy!

Changes
  • Increased War Saddle attack bonus from 15 to 16.
  • Beefalo get a stomach cramp if you feed them bad food.
  • Magiluminescence can now be refueled with Nightmare Fuel.
  • Updates to worldgen data that affect worldgen mods. As well, modded game modes can now specify a level type. Please see this thread for details.
  • Worldgenoverride.lua format has changed a bit. It should be fully backwards compatible, but for more info read this thread.
  • Players with their Steam UI language set to other languages now are prompted if they would like to view translation mods for their language.
  • Autumn night colour cube adjusted to retain some brighter reds.

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed various HUD scaling and positioning bugs.
  • Fixed bug where sanity ambient sound could not be heard by clients.
  • Fixed bug with rain ambient sounds when walking in and out of tree cover.
  • Fixed bug where Pig Men were never refusing food from Players.
  • Fixed missing snow symbols in Shadow Manipulator animations.
  • Fixed emote and shock effects layering and positions for standing and mounted animations.
  • Beefalo play the correct death animation if you kill them via food.
  • Beefalo orneriness actually increases while attacking now.
  • Magiluminescence light can now be seen by all clients.
  • Crafting tabs will now always indicated with a blue highlight if you have a structure built but not placed yet.
  • Fixed bug where torch fx were getting culled too soon.

Don't Starve Together leaving Early Access!



Hello folks!

It’s finally time to announce that we are going out of Early Access. Our official launch day is April 21, just 2 weeks away!

As we discussed in our last update in December, we are finally at content parity with the base game. Maxwell is on his way, the mandrake is in, caves are hostable without jumping through fiery hoops -- we now feel the game is ready for the general public and we’re ready to tell everyone.

This has been our longest Early Access yet (and we’ve done 3 full games and 2 expansions through early access). Both integrating Reign of Giants and Caves were undertakings, and we really appreciate the patience you’ve had with us. Thank you!
 

Through the Ages

Many moons ago, we discussed launching Through the Ages, and it got waylaid by getting to content parity. We felt strongly that getting to parity at our quality standard was the most important priority, and it took much longer than expected. We’re finally here, and we are now actively working on new content. The team is breathing a sigh of relief that we get to build brand new content again.

I’m going to leave Ipsquiggle to talk about Through the Ages as it evolves, but the first step of it is coming to at Launch: we’re putting in small variations to the basic biomes so that every generation feels a bit different, and these will transition over time as you play through the seasons.

As a refresher, the focus of TTA is the evolution of your world over a longer period of time, and more variation between worlds. This will take time to develop, and we will keep you in the loop both in beta branches and through our Rhymes With Play twitch stream, and of course right here in the forums. I’d say this is going to take about 6 months to develop, but uh, I’ve been off before.

And that’s a (Early Access) wrap!

Thank you all so much for joining us on this Early Access journey. It’s always an adventure to evolve a game with the players, and we have a ton of fun doing so. For Don’t Starve Together, launch is just signalling that we’ve achieved that first step of bringing Don’t Starve to be a full-fledged multiplayer experience.

We get that there’s still a lot more to develop -- from longer play sessions, to better modding tools, to improving the state of PvP and exploring the lore -- there’s always more to do than we have hands, but thankfully we’re here for the long haul, as long as you are, too.

F.A.Q.

What about Shipwrecked for DST?

We don’t have any concrete plans right now. Shipwrecked was built without DST in mind, and we’re going to need to evaluate how much is needed if we were going to do this. We would all love to go sailing with our friends!

What about PS4?

It's in the works! Console development often takes longer than one would hope, but the good news is that we’ve been continually merging in the changes from PC, and the game is coming along well. We'll update you the moment we have more info.

Been alive for a good number, just about to hit winter. Me and my friend had everything stocked up; tons of bunnies in the chests, two ice boxes filled with food from our farms and drying racks, two crockpots just for those nights that you needed really filling food, two themal stones, enough clothing to keep warmth for a decent distance away from base camp.

Had a wall built with three or so beefalo corralled in so that we could get manure and beefalo wool during the night. Honestly, we had this entire thing down set, winter wasn't going to beat us.

He said he was going to the bathroom and left me to tend to the fire to keep us through the night. Naturally, I didn't have any problem with that- surely we were set for a night.

And then my character heard something in the distance, something that was getting closer increasingly faster. Thinking it was just a wolf, I grabbed my spear and armor, wolves weren't anything to worry about.

Except the ground shook the closer it came, rattling every item on the map until this amalgamation of horror came onto the screen; giant antlers protruded out from above a single wide eye, every exhale this creature took gathered in a fog from it's mouth hole, every single stomp from a gigantic hoof sent rows of jagged ice along the ground like piston.

When my friend came back from the bathroom, everything was gone. He died instantly, unable to move or defend himself from the Deerclops, a sad ghost who could only haunt my already dwindling sanity through the duration of the very short fight. The Deerclops knew how to get me too, chasing me around my own camp until the fire inevitably went out, unable to throw anything into the fire for fear that the behemoth creature would kill me instantly just as he did my defenseless friend. Blind now in the darkness, all I could do was run around some more in a desperate attempt to find my fire pit before Charlie bore down on me, snuffling out the last vestiges of health I had before it was all over.

What happened?! My friend exclaimed when he came back, incredulous that this much could happen in a span of a few spare minutes, the monochromatic view on his screen the same as the utter failure that was on my own.

Indeed, my friend, what happened?

The game itself has got its reputation

如果和同地区基友开开小服玩那是相当欢乐,10/10
If you only play with a few local friends it would be very funny. 10/10 in this part

然而公共多人服务器蛋疼的很,主要原因:太多必须的资源是不可再生的,早期版本的燧石如果你进的晚了,你走遍卡拉迪亚大陆都找不到。石子?你还想找石子?种地狂魔表示种田种不了不能忍。。
However the public servers are muuuuuuuch worse. Main reason : lots of necessary resources are not reproduceable. For instance, flints and stones in early versions. When you get in the serve afterwards, it's almost impossible to play it.

很多一次性资源烧了就烧了,一个Griefer进来整个服全废了,杀牛烧基地烧猪人村的啥都见过
Once a griefer come in the serve, the serve would face a massive catastrophe. He would burn the big houses, the base, kill the buffalos and dig rabbit holes, burn everyone elses' hard work into ashes easily.

新人在冬天或者夏天进服基本必死。然后新手一死,survival服务器马上就炸了,我理解一个人死降所有人san值是为了让大家有羁绊,但是很多新人一进服到处乱转,死了也不说话,所有人都找不到他,大家san值一起疯狂的掉,这使得很多吃san值的角色根本没法用(机器人,图书管理员)
If you come in the serve in winter/summer, you are a dead wilson. Once a player dead it would not be a good situation for anyone else in the survival serves. I know the aim of sanity loss for death is to tied up all the members, but there always be someone likes to play alone and once he/she's dead, no one could find him and would suffer a long time.(Usually I quit in this circumstances.) It also cause many characters who have got low sanity rarely seen in the serve, like WX78 and librarian.

这造成服务器的新人友好度低,因为新人很大程度上基本上和破坏者Griefer没什么差别.
At last most serves are not welcome the new players and give them little help, cuz unexperienced new players have small differences with griefers.

我很喜欢这游戏,希望能在多人服务器的可持续性上多一些改进。这样才能“一起繁荣”.
I love this game very much and I hope in the near future the game would improve in sustainable issues in order to Thrive Together.

"ughhhh" says both..

*runs to the beefalos, hides with bush hat, watches hounds die*

...and we successfully survive one more day.

I looooooove playing this game with my boyfriend! :D It's so much fun. He bought this game for us and can't thank him enough for it. Thank you thank you jaanu <3

so yeah...keep on survivin! buy buy buy!
