I say "NO" to this game not because of the game play, but because of its stupid character store.... I paid for this game and I have right to get the full version of it, atleast for avengers. if you want me to pay and give me 3 characters out of all the possible ones your game is offering to play with, well then ♥♥♥♥ you ... For different story modes i have to pay ? you don't even give me a full avenger pack ? no hulk , Captain America or hawkeye ? stop this greedy business. you take away the whole fun of gaming by these things, make a full version of the game and make it more expensive but at least people would know if they pay for the game once they don't need to pay $5 , $10 or 20 to open up a character or a game mode .... I would be more than happy if you would mark your game as $200 product than asking me to pay it $5 by 5$
really disappointing , DO NOT GET THIS GAME

Edit : for some reasons people do not understand it .... I'm not even saying to get the whole game , I don't even care about Disney .... but the Avenger characters? HUlK ? Hawkeye? C.America?

here is the difference I found :

Free version:
$25-Avengers playset, Black Widow Character, Iron Man Character

Steam Version
$50 - Avengers playset, Black Widow Character, Iron Man Character, Thor Character, 2 Toy Box Games

Excellent Graphics, Great Story Lines, Wonderful Voice Acting - Smooth and Fun..
However, I was disappointed to find that the 'free' characters expire in three days.. and you have to purchase them to use them.. So, while I bought the game at a price it's really designed to get me to buy more.. Hulk is $5.99 - Why do they do that?.. it's SIX DOLLARS!.. So, you buy four characters.. Twenty four Bucks!...

Ya Really gotta like spending money to purchase this game..

They could have also told me that 'before' I purchased it.. but everything in the sales pitch leads you to believe you'll have several 'hero' figures to play with... and no mention of continued sales to support this title.. I think that's not fair...

Tried to join my friend to co-op, deleted my characters progression & levels, and i couldn't even join him. This $60 Pack only includes 3 people. It's a joke. Don't buy this pack, play it for free via the Disney 2.0 website.

It's a good game ... if you're rich
I paid 27 dollars and all it brings is 3 characters, 3, plus another 3 with LIMITED time (24 hours) ...
6 dollars for every ♥♥♥♥ing character, 16 of Marvel and 42 of Disney

or if you prefer, you can buy all the old Disney characters, it's only 103 dollars, and no, it doesn't bring his play sets ...
I don't know if an update or something will put more stuff (surely would be very expensive)

definitely, don't spend 20 or 40 dollars on this, no matter if you like Disney or Marvel

Worse than free-to-pay, it's pay-to-pay. You pay for the game (and no small sum being $24.99), then you have to pay to get additional characters. There's also "sparks" you can buy to unlock certain things. More money... If I could get a refund for this garbage I would. This kind of greed is ruining the gaming industry. I don't even want to play or buy anything anymore. Worse yet, to do this in a kids game. Talk about unethical manipulation. Greedy scumbags. I wish I had known all of this going in. DO NOT PURCHASE unless you enjoy being nickle-and-dimed to death and disappointing your kids once you've had enough.

Pro:
- Feels very polished, nice graphics and the audio is top notch
Cons:
- NO LOCAL MULTIPLAYER
- even if you have 2 steam accounts on 2 pc you still can only play toybox mode in multiplayer, not the storyline in playset mode
- you only get 3 Characters, be prepared to dish out 60-80$ more to have all characters
- can't switch resolution to higher then 1080p, i am even stuck with lower res and cant change it

RIP OFF. Stay away. Maybe I am new to this, but charging MORE money to use the players, is , well a RIP OFF. Wish I could return this. Not cool. I'll be way more careful next time, and I'll never purchase a Disney game again. Forget it.

I bought this for my 2 kids on my sons account and just wanted to add my warning to others. i bought this game thinking that it would have the all the same features as the console version for big picture play on the TV minus the action figures. I was very wrong! there is NO LOCAL CO-OP play! That might not be an issue for you but it was the primary feature on this purchase. I only paid half price for it but still feel ripped off! This is a first for Steam offered Games that i would ever consider a refund! glad i didn't time this with christmas.

If you are over 7 years old, you won't enjoy this.

Yes it does have a creative "build this, build that" system but it is extremely hard and time consuming to do and you can't achieve much without paying for it.

Went in with fairly low expectations, actually been very pleasantly surprised by just how good the game aspect of this all is.

Reminds me a lot of the lego series of games with character traits etc.
All that said, the packs are incredibly expensive and the PC version of 2.0 is rather limited in play sets currently with only 3 available (but lots of characters individually).

1- i bought the game but theres a bug when i go to the avengers playset, it shows "demo" and then i need to keep opening the playset again and again until it finally shows "load game", disney please fix this.

2- you buy the game to get 1 playset and 3 characters, even those aren't all the character from 1 ♥♥♥♥ing playset you need to buy hulk, hawkeye and others separately.

3- if you want all the content of the game you will probably spend at least 200 dollars, totally not worth it

This game is fun but for three reasons I would not buy this version of it.
1. Despite having a fairly good gaming PC and this being a fairly simple game the controller lag is terrible.
2. Micro-transactions aren't that micro, in fact the figurines that you can buy for other versions of the game cost the same as the in game purchases in the PC version. Less if you go to the right place or don't mind second hand.
3. LA♥♥♥♥♥ Switching characters takes forever, in other versions pop one figure off put another on and poff there ther are. In this version open the menu, select your character and atch as the game spends ages showing you spiny gold as it changes, plus side to this is Thors ranged move still seems to work after you switch him out so the gold starts spitting hammers... I found it slightly funny.

If you like Disney and Marvel Characters AND if you really like them so can pay some money for each of them, you may enjoy this sandbox world :)

But if you do not prefer DLC-like items, just forgot this game :P

Highly underrated, victim of people taking it at face value and giving it ♥♥♥♥ for being a Disney title. All these negative reviews seem to be from people who had no idea that the game was F2P and that this was a starter pack, it is unfair that this game has a mixed rating just because a few dumbasses didn't even know what the game was.

The combat for all the marvel characters is extremely fun, like damn. They all play like the best of their individual games. Spider-man was so fun it reminded me of the old days with the Tobey Macgquire Spider-man games and the N64/PS1 Spider-man game. Iron Man was well done and plays like you would expect, Hulk like the old movie games, just amazing job.

The devs also have a fantastic track record. They made the original 3 Tak and the Power of Juju games, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, and so much more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avalanche_Software#Games_developed

Ninja Theory (DmC, Heavenly Sword) also had helped develop the combat.

As for the Sandbox mode, it's really well done too. You can make custom levels with placed health pickups and enemy wave generation, objectives, races, etc.

There's also a player housing where you can place a ton of objects and build new rooms with items from your favorite disney movies and comics (Iron Man's suit, the scare door from monsters inc, Infinity Gauntlet, Tesseract, etc.)

• If you understand the value of money, then this game is not for you.
• If you think this product is about the Marvel Super Hero story gameplay, then this game is not for you.
• If you think this is an open sandbox with every tool already at your disposal to build whatever you want, then this game is not for you.

This product is a pseudo game builder that is intended for older children or young adults.
Yes, there is a pre-built Avengers (or Spider-man, or Guardians) game, but it's really just there as a means to an end... you are playing or paying to unlock new ways to theme the game you will build, or to fast-track access to a wide variety of models and features to add to what you build.

THE CONS:
The price is hard to justify, but once you turn that portion of your brain off (which I did when TF2 introduced micro transactions) you learn to let it slide.
The custom Exteriors & INteriors you build have a strong tendency to become corrupt... items disappearing (including floors!), INterior rooms becoming misaligned and closed off, props sinking into the floor... This is the biggest complaint I have. It can become terribly frustrating to work on something for a long time to have it ruined on load... in some cases irreversibly

THE PROS:
I have had a great time building things with my kids. I love seeing them learn about logic connections between characters & props and watching them develop their own gameplay. I love the stylization & combination of the Disney properties... it's lighthearted, funny, and makes for a good time.

I'm sure there are other game builders out there that are cheaper... but this is the one I bought... My kids and I like it; and we'll continue to play.

This is my favorite game of this genre. I absolutly recomend this game. If u like Marvel and Disney (like me) you will love this game. It's like a minecraft with incredible battles and your favorite heroes/characters. Music is fantastic, we are talking about Disney of course.
The first time I played I was sleepy but I could not stop playing. Not everything you buy with real money, you can retrieve items, characters and buildings just by playing and collecting sparks (game currency). The daily challenge is a way to motivate you to buy heroes, because you can use all to grind points.
So I gonna play, see you all in Disney Infinity!

INTRO
There's a lot of mixed reviews but still a lot of unanswered questions. I am going to try to review the game and explain at least well enough to help you decide if you should buy this or not. Keep in mind this is MY opinion on the game, it might not necessarily be the same as everyone else!

Differences between "Free" Version and Steam Version
I'll start by informing you that the pack Steam is selling, is also available on the Disney Infinity website. You can also download the game for free on the same website.
Although the game is supposedly Free to Play, the basic version of the game doesn't offer you that much, presenting itself more as a demo. You have access to 3 of the many characters that rotate each 5 days, you can play demos of the Play Sets (these are like open world story modes) and you have limited access to toy box (it's kinda like a creative mode). I recommend you download and play the game for free through the Disney Infinity website before you buy any pack.

By buying one of the starter packs (in this case, the Marvel Super Heroes one) you unlock:
- The Avengers play set (basically it's an open world story mode)
- 3 permanent characters (Thor, Black Widow, Iron Man)
- Full access to toy box 2.0 (creative mode where you can create your own maps/levels, share them with friends, download other people's maps, race your friends, create/customize your own house, etc. In my opinion, this is where the game really shines)
- Two toy box games (these are kinda like game modes. Eg: tower defense game)

PROS & CONS
I'm going to balance the pros and cons based on the version Steam is selling. Some of these are very subjective and they are based on my own experience of the game.

PROS:
+ Huge possibilities - Through the Toy Box mode, the game can truly be "infinite"! Create your own maps and levels, or download maps from the community! (Remember how Little Big Planet did it? Close enough!)
+ Characters - Great cast, both from "classic" Disney and Marvel.
+ VERY fun! - Personal opinion, of course. But I had a really good time playing this game! (Try the free version to see if you have fun too! If not, then it's probably not for you.)

CONS:
x Too expensive - and I don't mean just the Marvel Super Heroes pack. Even with this pack you only get to play with 3 of the Avengers. This means no Hulk, no Captain America, no Hawkeye, no Falcon and of course none of the other characters associated with them, like Loki for example. You can buy these characters on the website, they're cheaper than their physical versions (that can also be bought, but all you really will use is the code that comes with it. It's nice if you like to collect figures though). So basically, you have a bunch of characters you want to play with, but you have to pay for them. And that's not all! You want new story modes? You can play the demo, but for the full version you have to buy the corresponding Play Set pack (for example, Guardians of the Galaxy). You want new Toy Box games? (Not the ones you can download for free, the "official" ones) Well, that's also gonna cost you. Pretty much everything "extra" in this game is not only paid, but it's also kinda expensive.

CONCLUSION
Disney Infinity 2.0 is a good game overall, in my opinion (7/10 for the story modes, 8/10 for creation modes). It will definitely give you that "greedy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s" vibe, but even with the content of one pack, you can already have lots of fun with it!
Once again, i recommend you try the free version of the game first because it really can show you the game's potential before you buy it.

Quick overview for those wondering what exactly this version of Disney Infinity 2.0 is:
1. This is the full version of the game, no "toybox only" version or the likes we saw before.
2. What you get with this starter set is three figures (Thor, Black Widow and Iron-man) and the Avengers play-set (essentially an open-world 5-hours long story mode) plus a collection of free-to-try characters that rotate at certain dates. You also get two toy box minigames:
one is a tower-defense styled game and the other is a roguelike styled game (and also includes randomly generated floors).
3. There are no direct uses for physical figures. To compensate, digital figures are cheaper and physical figures come with download-codes for unlocking them.
4. There is pretty much zero graphics customization available beyond different resolutions,
luckily, the game is fairly lightweight for those with mid-range rigs.
5. There are some bugs to look out for at this time.
You have to wait a couple of seconds after getting to the main menu to choose your play-set.
If you don't, the game won't recognize that you own the play-sets and instead ask if you want to play the demo. And lastly, some actions during the menus, like choosing your support characters, are currently impossible to do without the aid of a mouse

I would not recommend this game. After taking the time to set up a Disney Account the game would not connect to the network. I tried several times without success.

My 6 year old twins LOVE this game, for that matter, I LOVE it too and I'm 45! With the added bonus of Steam's "Big Picture", I can push it to our 55' screen TV, just have to tweak the resolution a bit and it runs smooth!
