About The Talos Principle

The Talos Principle is a first-person puzzle game in the tradition of philosophical science fiction. Made by Croteam, the creators of Serious Sam, and written by Tom Jubert (FTL, The Swapper) and Jonas Kyratzes (The Sea Will Claim Everything).

As if awakening from a deep sleep, you find yourself in a strange, contradictory world of ancient ruins and advanced technology. What is your purpose And what are you going to do about it?

Sigils of Elohim is a free mini-game prelude to Croteam’s upcoming first-person puzzler The Talos Principle. Actually it's Tetris ...
And if you solve the puzzles you get some weird in-game rewards like QR-Codes for the other game.

A fun and occasionally surprisingly difficult puzzle game which apparently gives the player in-game unlockables for The Talos Principle. If you don't want to play it for the unlockables, play it solely for entertainment and for some chilling brain exercise.

Four out of five Gnaars are agreeing with the fact that it's Android (portable, whatever) version can be a life saver during boring lectures. If you are seeking some occasional, yet still challenging (not to mention free!) ways of entertainment, you really should play it.

It's small, it's free, what's stopping you? Do it!

Fun little puzzle game where you have to fill in a given square or rectangular area exactly with a given set of differently shaped blocks (think tetris pieces) for each puzzle, at whatever speed you wish. Add in some great atmospheric music and you've got a decent free mini-game.

On the minus side there was no tutorial for people who haven't played this kind of game or puzzle before, and the restart button was bugged so it would exit the game after pressing the restart puzzle button a few times.

Honestly the puzzle concept is nothing new (it's like a couple different kinds of puzzle blocks I had as a kid) but it's implemented well for a computer and the music is quite good. I finished the whole game in one sitting in about 2 and a quarter hours. There were a couple frustrating puzzles (for some reason the worst for me was by far the first orange puzzle) but if you don't worry about getting through the game and just take the few hardest puzzles as a chance to do a bit more strategic thinking than just spamming different combinations, you'll be fine. If you really like this kind of puzzle I'd recommend finding a physical puzzle game set like this (there are a few out there), as this type of puzzling is generally more fun and rewarding with your hands than a mouse.

Besides Tetris, the other thing that came into my mind when I first tried this game was the Navi Customizer in the MegaMan Battle Network series, which I think was only used in its 3rd installment. :)

This game has a great atomosphere, as the music is very soothing and calming. It is a little short, though. However, as a free test for the Talos Principle, it does a fine job.

Sigils of Elohim? Well, I can't say there isn't anything wrong with this game for me.
It's basically just a mini-game that grants you QR-Code Rewards after each set of puzzles you have completed, that you can use for the upcoming game Croteam is releasing called "The Talos Principle".
I personally love puzzles and this game couldn't have done it better. In some puzzles I'll tell myself, "What am I even doing" or "What did I do wrong?" as it really challenges your mind. Along with great puzzles to exercise your brain, this game also has great yet short music loops.
Overall, I recommend this to anyone, because once you try it out you won't even know how much time has passed until you finished the first set of puzzles with all your heavy thinking. Also, it is free ;)

Looks great, plays great, sounds great. An excellent execution of a simple idea.

So why the bad review then?

Well, it just doesn't work as a puzzle game. As of this review I'm 17 puzzles in, and I don't feel like there is a cohesive strategy to this game. There's no way to gauge if you're on the right track with a puzzle, or way off base, and as a result, all my "puzzle-solving" is simply trial and error.

Brute forcing your way to victory doesn't make a good puzzle game. Sorry.

Sigils of Elohim is a puzzle game based on the upcoming "Talos Principle" game by Croteam which engages users to think to the best of their problem solving abilities.
You're given a number of shapes to work with and an overall spectrum to insert them in, just like a puzzle. In fact, Sigils of Elohim is basically like a physical puzzle that you place items in to make fit.

Is Sigils of Elohim better than a physical puzzle? The short answer; yes.
The long answer? Sigils of Elohim is all that you could ever want a puzzle to be. It's simple, easy, and at the same time challenging beyond belief. Best of all; It's free.

Sigils of Elohim takes an approach like a typical iOS/Android title (as it's also free to play for those platforms) and works well as a PC game as it engages simple fun into a very complex situation. Making all the pieces fit the puzzle box may look easy but you're taken for a wild ride once you've tried every possible solution that you feel your brain can handle, and still can't manage to solve it. The only limitation is your mind, and your imagination.

You can also use codes in this game to get promo items for "The Talos Principle" coming soon.

A FREE puzzle mini-game where you fit shapes together to form them to a rectangular grid. It's extremely calming to play and awards you with codes to unlock things in the game "The Talos Principle."

Relaxing, and, depending on your brain power, possibly quickly challenging puzzles that are nevertheless fun to do.

You arrange Tetris shapes into a pre-defined rectangle. That's all you do, but for me it's got this "just one more" effect. I would guess it may well do the same for others.

When you have only the last piece left that fits into the gap, a timer appears, but I assume that's it, no actual pressure while you play, and no time limit that I saw so far. (I like that a lot.)

I'm definitely going back to this. It reminds me of one of the things in a test I once did to determine my abilities. (Back then I would probably have breezed through. These days, at over 40, not so much. Maybe it'll jog my gray cells back into shape. :) )

The music is actually soothing and unintrusive. (I'm one of those people that tend to turn music in games off first thing because it annoys me, not so here.)

No option to turn sounds off or change to windowed mode that I saw.

I'll probably not look at The Talos Principle, I just can't play first person. But this is a neat idea, and I thank the developers for supplying a nice free puzzle game.
