ABOUT SHADWEN

Shadwen is a stealth-action game where the only rule is to remain unseen. Stay hidden – or the ruthless guards will kill you on sight!

Shadwen, an assassin on a quest to kill the king, has a chance encounter with an orphaned girl, Lily. She follows Shadwen on her dangerous journey, but when the ruthless guards get too close, Shadwen must take action right in front of Lily’s eyes.

Will Shadwen risk the girl’s budding trust by resorting to violence, or try and find another way while keeping her real purpose concealed?

To kill or not to kill – that is the question.

FEATURES
  • MOVE FREELY – Sneak and explore around the dark and gritty medieval province and use the environment to your advantage – use your rope to grapple onto rooftops, silently drop down from ceilings, or veil yourself in the shadows.
  • STAY HIDDEN – Pick your assassinations carefully. Avoid being seen, heard or getting caught indirectly. Suspicious sights and noises will alert the guards – use it to your benefit!
  • TIME IS AN ACCOMPLICE – Time stands still when you are not moving Shadwen, allowing you to stop at any point mid-motion. Rewind time to manipulate your past and present actions!
  • USE PHYSICS – Use physics and a freely attachable rope to drag and topple objects. Make deaths look accidental; let gravity do the grave work.
  • CREATE TRAPS AND HAZARDS – Set up traps and hazards to lure guards towards their untimely demise; discover new ways to eliminate or distract your foes by crafting items into deadly surprises, including poison traps, spike devices, decoy toys and more.
  • TWO CHARACTERS – Embrace the darkness with Shadwen and her abilities to protect Lily and create a safe passage for her.

About This Game

Experience a fairytale world of breathtaking sceneries and face a myriad of physics-based puzzles, wonderful contraptions, dangerous foes and enchanting creatures.

Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power is a platforming game of action, puzzles and adventure, and the sequel to the award winning Trine and Trine 2. Reunite with the familiar heroes - Pontius the Knight, Amadeus the Wizard and Zoya the Thief in an all-new adventure, now for the first time in full 3D!

Playable in single-player or in co-up with up to three players, both locally or online.

Amadeus the Wizard, Pontius the Knight, and Zoya the Thief have slowly come to the conclusion that having their lives commandeered by a powerful magical artifact is not a desirable state of existence on a permanent basis.

The heroes try to return their extraordinary gifts to the Artifact called Trine, and so they meddle with powers beyond their understanding: Trine shatters and a heartless ancient sorcerer escapes. With only a broken artifact to guide them, the heroes must try and repair the damage they've caused... or the damage that might yet be done.

A married wizard and father of triplets, Amadeus can summon mystical boxes and move obstacles with his spells. Perhaps he is not the most skilled or fearsome of wizards, but the heroes rely on Amadeus on all things concerning magic and legends. Amadeus has always liked adventures more in theory rather than in practice, preferring the fame and tales of his deeds to the actual doing of said deeds, which often deprive him of naps and holidays with his family.

The brave protector of the realm with a big heart, Pontius is a champion to anyone in need, regardless of their station. Pontius was knighted by the King himself, and he has a red cape to prove it! He is a frontline hero who is always going headlong first into battle with his trusty shield and sword. In addition to passionately fighting on the side of Goodness and Justice, Pontius has an equal love for good food and drink, and dreams of one day settling down on a simple farm, where he could protect his corner of the world, while growing enormous potatoes and pumpkins. And eat pie.

Clever and elusive, Zoya gets in and out of tricky situations all the time. She brings her bow and arrows to a fight, but she also has a grappling hook that can be useful in various thiev... situations. Zoya appreciates all the adventures she has had with with Trine, due to all the trinkets she's been able to collect on the way, but she is becoming anxious to get back on her own. Being on call for Trine is nowhere near as thrilling as her old life as a purveyor of rare and precious items.

Online and Local Co-op

Up to three players can play online and local co-up. Any mix is possible (for example 2 local, 1 online) and you can switch from singleplayer to multiplayer and vice versa. Play with your Steam friends and explore the secrets together!

The Lost Pages

The ultimate test to your skills, the Lost Pages feature the most incredible contraptions, character-driven design, and ridiculous puzzles. Are you skilled enough to unlock all the Lost Pages?

Soundtrack

Award-winning composer Ari Pulkkinen returns for an amazing fantasy soundtrack!

Fantastic Fantasy

Adventure through breathtakingly beautiful landscapes in an enchanting fairytale world, and for the first time ever explore the Trine world in a full 3D setting, allowing you to go check out all the nooks and crannies that have been so alluring in the past.

Full Language Support for English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, and Brazilian-Portuguese

The game features full language support for English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, and Brazilian-Portuguese (voice + subtitles on/off), and an additional number of languages for subtitles.

A disappointment after the previous games in the series. The extra dimension just added glitches and a frustrating gameplay experience, especially when the camera switches mid run to the 45 deg. angle shots. Mechanics, such as the effects of weight on the pinwheels would not always behave as expected. The puzzles seemed dumbed down to account for the challenge of working in 3D. Co-Op play was less exciting as it did not see as necessary to coordinate together.

Once you get used to the 3D design, it's not too bad. Levels look good, and you're jumping around the levels so much that the trineangles level requirement doesn't phase you.

This is a case where I wish there was a 'Recommend, but hesitant' option.
I will start off with saying that like the other Trine games (for their times) it is a very pretty game.
Unfortunately, the game is extremely short. It took me 5 hours to 100% complete it solo.
The puzzles were fun, the full 3d world was also a very nice addition. I definitely wish that there was just more to this game, I was never bored while playing it.
There are things that would have been nice to see return from Trine 2 (such as skill trees).
The ending felt very... abrupt. If in the future additional chapters are added (as the story aludes to) then my overall opinion will grealy improve.
Maybe a group of friends trying to work 'together' (or against each other) would make it even more enjoyable.
If you got this game in a bundle and are wondering if it is worth redeeming they key: Yes!
If the game is on a super sale and is ~$2-4: Yes!
If the game is full price at 21.99 or 59.99: No!

I think the reason why some people don't like this game is because they liked Trine 2 and expect more of the exact same.

Trine 3 has different gameplay (It's still a "sidescroller" but you can freely run across the ground and not just left and right). It's still puzzles, still a platformer, the same heroes, none of the weird bonus/alt powers. Still lots of fun to play.

But I just finished the main story and it seemed to hint at a continuation.... but where is it?
I hope they make the next part soon.

A shame what happened to this franchise. This is not a finished game. It's playable, it looks beautiful, and once you get used to background and foreground being hardly distinguishable and the camera trying everything to screw you over at any given moment, you'll likely enjoy most of the puzzles. But the plot is only half a story, ending abruptly with no sense of closure after half of your quest. Apparently the devs admitted they didn't have enough money to finish the rest of the game. It's a damn shame.

My recommendation comes with a caveat: we need a Trine 4, which according to current media is a very big "If" right now.

Let's get the bad out of the way; the game is very short, and ends in a cliffhanger. Just about every outlet has discussed this, so I'm not going to re-hash. As far as I'm concerned the complaints about the 'simplification' of the mechanics are unwarranted; I enjoyed my experience from start to finish.

Now for the reasons you should buy it: It's a Trine game, through and through. My GTX 1080 was pushed to the limit at the highest settings, and the visuals don't disappoint. It is a GORGEOUS game. The puzzles are hard enough that I was given pause a few times, but if you're playing co-op it won't stall you for hours if you have players who aren't very good at them; there is always a path forward. The story is very thin, as usual, but that was never a major point for the series. The controls are very tight, the physics top notch, and I even had a few laugh out loud moments because it was genuinely funny.

I will not hesitate to buy Trine 4 if it comes out; if it is acknowledged there will never BE a Trine 4, however, you are better off playing Trine 2 again unless this is on sale for super cheap, due to the above mentioned cliffhanger.

I still find this game as fun as Trine 1 & 2, even though they removed abilities tree. So what? it doesn't matter, it doesn't affect the great adventure Trine games gives you, they made amazing changes with 3D in it instead of only 2D

I see people don't recommend this game due to the fact that they don't like changes.. It takes alittle time to get used to the 3D if you played Trine 1 and 2 before. The game has an amazing story, but as others say, it ends too soon.. Now thanks to all of the haters who loved trine 1 and 2 there probably wont be a Trine 4 in the future, which i think is really sad! Yes, it has some bugs and all, but what game doesn't have bugs? It doesn't affect the game atall. I see reviews where they say you have to collect all "Trineangels" to unlock all chapters, which is not true.

But all in all, its an amazing adventure, no matter if they removed the Abilites tree and made it 3D, its still one of a kind game which i think is amazing! I hope there will be a Trine 4, but it seems not to.

Buy this game if you like theese type of games, you won't regret it atall!
    10/10!

If you liked Trine 1 and 2 don't buy this game.

Trine 1 is a beatuiful puzzle platformer.
Trine 2 is a beautiful puzzle platformer, that even expanded the gameplay.
Trine 3 is nice to look at. Thats it.

They reduced your special abilities (i.e monster levitation, multiple conjured items, etc.)
You have no skill tree. Your limited abilities are unlocked from the start.
You have to collect "Trineangles" to unlock levels.
And worst of all: This game is so easy it took 6 hrs to complete all achievements.

I expected more from the third installment in the franchise. What i got was a lazy cash grab with no replayability, a pseudo "3d" environment where you can't even change the difficulty. Even the story Ends prematurely, hinting at DLC or Trine 4.

The levels feel extremely linear, due to the lack of different abilities.
Coop isn't needed. You can play every level easily on your own.
The "Trinangles" are mostly visible at a first glance, there a very few secrets.

    Characters:
Amadeus: thanks to his smash ability, he is the most OP Character. Kill, climb or solve "puzzles" with him.
Zoya: practically useless, unless the level design forces you to use her.
Pontius: Can kill, glide and dash. The only other useful character besides Amadeus.

If you can get this game for free, give it a shot. Everything above 5€ is just too much.

It pains me to say, i loved the Trine series, but this is just ridiculous.

Edit: I forgot to mention the gamebreaking coop bugs.
"Trineangle" collection get's saved randomly. After one playthrough, where we collected all Trinangles, only the host had them saved. I had to play the level again to collect stuff i already collected.
Sometimes you are invisible until you restart the level. I'm sure i forgot something again, but this should suffice as a warning to potential buyers.

    TL;DR don't buy.

I loved the first two games but I found this game wanting. I think they just tried doing too much with this game and it came out buggy and forgettable, my least favorite of the series.

    Rating: 7/10
    Overview: Pseudo 3D Platformer.

    The Good:

+ Like previous games, the graphics, cinematography and atmosphere is pure visual eye candy

    + easy achievements

+ levels track collectables within each checkpoint so its easy to replay levels and collect what you missed

+ level editor/ steam workshop provides some replay ability

    The Average:

Unlike previous games, this is 3D. It adds some depth to the game but it doesn’t add a whole lot. Its as if the developers wanted to make a full 3D game but were too afraid, so they made the levels extremely linear and easy.

Platforming is a bit trickier now

The previous games had a nice balance between platforming, puzzle solving and combat. This game is focused more on platforming, and a weaker emphasis on puzzle solving and combat.

    The Bad:

-The game is really short, only 7 main levels, and they can easily be completed in 30 minutes with a story that is incomplete. You are looking at a 3-5 hour game depending on skill level.

    - Features are missing from the previous games; No more items to equip your characters, character no longer level up, levels are much easier, less reliant on physics.

    Conclusion:

The trine games are fantastic yet this game is largely forgettable. If the developers do decide to make another game, either make a fully 3-D world or just stick to 2-D. Its not that this is a bad game per se, its just lacking so much content from the previous games. Get it on sale or in a bundle.

The game is nothing like the other 2 :(

My favourite trine was the second one. The goblin menace was a real challenge, and getting all achievements was fun. Of course I played everything in coop with a friend. We waited a long time before playing Trine 3. I already was expecting something not as good as the previous ones. But yeah....the game is not bad, but really, is on a totally different level compared to the first and second Trine.

It's a very difficult choice, because if you really enjoyed the old ones, I am sure you would want to play this. But also, if you play this, you will be quite disappointed. So....it's kind of a lose-lose situation.

It still has a good design and nice graphics, but story is completely absent and personally I would have stuck to the 2.5 D system instead of going to a 3D that is ok to manage but yet messes things up a bit. Combats are weird and all the abilities (pretty sure because of the 3D environment) are limited. No hammer throw, no triple arrows, no planks from the wizard.....up to you if you want to play it. Most likely, after finishing this, you'll feel like going back to Trine 2 and have another round on it. I recommend it because it's a third chapter of a saga I love. But I don't recommend it in the review because simply it doesn't deliver enough (also it is buggy in some places).

The game is made in a way that makes it really annoying to play! The collectibles in the game is not as in the other 2 games and personally I think they should be. I don't recommend this game because it has a really annoying gameplay that just makes you frustrated. I'm sorry but this game is nothing like the others, and that's not a good thing! So do yourself a favor and don't play it.

I know people have been really let down by this game. Let me lead with the fact I've beaten both trines before, and I loved trine 2 a lot. This game, although the worst of all the Trine series, is not a complete waste of time. Yes they have taken out leveling up and gaining powers. Yes you can't build towers of boxes with the mage or form a box, then jump off it in the air. Yes controlling boxes and items and moving them in 3d and trying to manipulate what youre standing on with the box is terrible. Yes the archers arrows can be funky, sometimes not letting you tie things together, sometimes breaking in the middle of pulling the item. Yes the selecting of multiple targets witht he wizard and archery is finnicky and very cluncky and imprecise. Yes the combat is bad and is just hammering attack button. Yes being in 3d means you can't tell where youre jumping or you'll land, leading to many deaths. Yes grabbing on to ledges sometimes doesn't work and isn't precise. Yes the game is short, and ends abruptly for no reason right in the middle of the story with no conclusion because the studio ran out of money.

BUT navigating around the levels in 3D can sometimes be fun. The levels are big, long, absolutely beautiful. They are varied. Some of the platforming can be fun when its not frustrating. The physics are excellent. There is the same cheeky sense of humor. All in all they should have probably stuck to 2d because of how much worse all the characters and their powers are, and how finnicky many of the systems are. But its still an ok game. Definitely not worth full price.

    7/10.

This is 1/3 of a game. Literally, it just ends after 1/3 of your quest is done, no plot threads resolved, the villain still at large, a cliffhanger blatantly left there for you to buy the sequel, which is doubtful they'll ever even make due to this game's bad reception. It's an insult to the franchise and it's fans. Do not give Frozenbyte the satisfaction of seeing your money for this unfinished kick in the nuts.
