Terrible, just terrible, all you is find ffing keys that have no discription, all you do is open doors to hopefully find more keys to open more doors, there is no story, I keep missing all the "scary" that is suppose to happen.
If this is at all representative of the actual game...well then its freaking horrible

I have to say, i had high expecations for this demo. sadly, upon playing i realised that they were not realistic. The main thing that bugged me about this demo was the poor gameplay, it was almost like i was watching a poorly made stop-motion animation. That being said, the graphics were okay and there is room for development. If the designers would have fixed this in the game when it came out then I would definitely recommend, however it seems that no such thing happened. This demo is a good example of wasted potential in my opinion.

Despite all the negative reviews I've read about this game I thought it looked really neat, and since there was a free demo I thought "why not?" och tried for myself. The comments on finding keys and opening doors are very true which might become really tedious in the long run. I really liked the atmosphere though, sound design is great! The setting of the game with a large, desolate house out in the woods really appeals to me too. I probably won't buy the whole game at full price but certainly will if it shows up in a sale.

The Lighting in the game is terrible, there are several jump scares but you will often miss them because its so dark you cant see hardly anything.

I've just played the demo and I think this game has potential.

• The story portion of the game currently is extremely weak and could use greater clarification, detailing and enhancing.

• The graphics are mediocre, I get the feel of Source Engine as I walk around, speaking of walking, it’s annoying there isn’t a toggle to run/walk, I found myself holding shift down the entire time.

• The Sound is great! Really good job on setting the tone.

• Playability, I found very quickly my mind had changed the games goal of Find a clue to "Key Hunter!" You find yourself randomly going to rooms to see if they're locked or not, and if not, to check for a key to open another locked door, to check for a key to open another locked door, to check for a key to unlock another locked... you get the picture.

As you explore the rooms there isn’t a lot to do, there is nothing to interact with other than lighting candles or flicking a light switch. This to me made the fictional history of the building very 2D, thin and made the building lack character. I didn’t feel like I was learning anything as i progressed, I didn’t feel like the buildings history was collectively building. Some times as you leave a room, or enter an adjoining room you hear something move in the other room, when going back to can encounter paranormal activity such as stacked books / furniture. This was kind of neat, but can be easily missed.

• How to die, I found my character getting scared looking out a window, I think I saw a bird hit the glass once, and then something moving in the grass, ether way nothing touched me, yet my health was going down. I was confused as to what was going on until I decided to step away.

• Conclusion. I think this game has a cool concept that currently is under developed. I'd like to see the building more interactive and alive. I'd like a stronger back story and a stronger story line to follow, I'd like to learn or know who the enemy is and why they are tormented and finally I'd like to see the graphics taken up a notch because this is no better than Garry's Mod.

A lot of potential here!
Amazing atmosphere, really feels like a proper scary old house. Well placed creeks, and rustling in the bushes outside really add a lot to the expirence.

Walking needs to be fixed. He moves too slowly for the ammount of footsteps being produced, either walking needs to be sped up, or the sounds need to have slightly more time between them. Additionaly the head bob effect and footstep sounds are not in snyc. Not saying its game breaking, but it its somthing that would be fairly easy to do and add somthing to immersion.
Running however seems to be fine.

The first key isnt even hidden lol might as well not even lock the gate.

I really enjoyed the game though and can't wait to see whats to come!

Most times my characters freaked out, I had no idea why, and the rest of the time, it was not anything worth fussing over. A sudden flash of light (felt really random), candles being blowed out.

Graphically, it does not shine at all, it looks really outdated. That itself would not be a deal breaker, but details like lights only being visible when you are close enough really breaks immersion. It's not like a ghost turns the light off when you step away and turns it back on when you get closer, it just seems that even on high settings, the engine can't handle lights being visible from a long distance.

It does not help that the demo does not give you anything else to search for than keys. They don't want to give out too much of the scenario in the demo, I get it, but it means that all you are left with are cheap scares and graphics older than the house.

The few attempts at spooky events I got really felt weak. Like textbook horror event awkwardly implemented. Take footsteps for example: in Eternal Darkness, it was implemented in order to give you the impression that someone else was wandering around the mansion, you would hear them from above, places you could not immediately reach and yet very close. In this game though? What you heard were faraway footsteps on your floor, as if you were to expect someone to show up from the main hall or the corridor ahead of you. You don't feel threatened because the footsteps are so far away, and since you can quickly make sure that there is not actually anything, next time you hear it, you just brush it off.

TL;DR: weak engine, awkardly implemented cheap scares, non-immersive environment.

Ok for a demo... I felt like the rustling in the woods was a little overdone. It had some nice jumpscares, but nothing that hasn't been done before. However, the reason I wouldn't recommend this game (at the moment) is due to the horrible optimization. My GTX 770 and FX-8350 couldn't keep above 30fps, and this isn't graphically demanding at all. I'd wait for better optimization before downloading. With that being said, I still do feel like this game has potential to have a great story, as long as the dev(s) don't go overboard on the jumpscares and stop paying attention to the atmosphere.

I'm expecting this game to be quite a bit more terrifying when it's complete but it's not bad so, I'd give the demo 7/10.
