Double Action Boogaloo v 1.2.2

I love these rhyming version names.

That's correct! Double Action has received another slew of bugfixes and balances, changes and enhancements.

Punters will notice some additions to the scoreboard, as well as upgrades to spectator mode. Bots can now mantle and climb in some spots, and the hitmarkers for incoming fire will now dynamically scale with game resolution, making for a clearer impact on larger screens.

Our more experienced superfallers will notice that "WORTH IT!!" is now doled out less liberally, making for more intense and rewarding skybattles.

Additionally, gameplay has been tightened and bugs squashed, and the votekick system has received a tweakin. You can view the changelist here

As usual, if you're making maps be sure to show us what you've got! Now get in there and RRRRRRUMBLE!

Double Action: Boogaloo v1.2.1.2

Hello fellow Double-Actionists!

Just a tiny update concerning mostly the non-Windows users.

  • Linux users no longer crash when entering observer mode (already released on 2016-06-18)
  • The Mac build is now up-to-date and thus compatible with the servers again (thanks rezidue)

Btw, if someone knows how to build the Mac port on Linux, please share, as that would make updating the Mac build a loooot easier :)

About This Game

Double Action is a free stylish multiplayer game about diving, flipping, and sliding your way into action movie mayhem.

What's Double Action Like?

Imagine doing a backflip off some dude's face, then diving through a window, gold-plated pistols firing in slow motion. There's an explosion behind you and somebody's stolen your briefcase full of money.

Is that enough action for you? Multiply it by two for Double Action.

So, it's like a Micheal Bay movie?

Don't talk to me.

So, it's like a Freddie Wong movie?

Hell yeah! Now you're talking!

Are there weapons? I like weapons.

Yes. Yes you do.

  • The Sentinel 9* - A 9mm pistol
  • The Stallion .45* - A .45 caliber pistol
  • The Undertaker - A 9mm sub-machine gun
  • The Mac Daddy - A .45 caliber sub-machine gun
  • The Persuader - A combat shotgun
  • The Vindicator - A fully-automatic rifle
  • The Black Magic - A burst-fire rifle
  • Your Fists - They pack a mean punch
  • The High Explosive Grenade - For when all else fails

* Pistols also available in dual wield style.

This all sounds very stylish!

Style is good; we like style. Choose a style skill for specialized action:

  • Marksman - Improved gun handling and extra firearms damage
  • Athlete - Faster speed and better stunts
  • Bouncer - Deal more damage when brawling
  • Reflexes - Super-slow-motion and bullet time
  • Nitrophiliac - Extra grenades, more explosions

What's the objective?

Double Action is a no-holds-barred battle royale interspersed with objectives to survive checkpoints, capture the briefcase full of money, and hunt down the wanted criminal.

How much does it cost?

Don't be ridiculous, it wouldn't be very stylish if we charged you. Double Action is free, just download and play!

I drop through glass skylight and roll out of the fall, shooting at the other man in the room. He fires back so I slide around a corner, then flip off of the wall, coming back at him as he follows me around the corner. I dive off of the roof and he dives after me, we both fire madly on the way down, I activate slow motion and finish him off, moments later slamming into the ground, dying instantly. My final though before hitting the ground: "That was awesome".
This game is awesome, diving and sliding around madly shooting everyone haphazardly, not worrying about your death count, only your style. It's perfect for some casual fun, and it's amazing how quickly you'll find yourself pulling off insane cinematic stunts. You actually feel skilled and it's a total blast. If you want to sprint around with friends and create the most insane, adrenaline-fueled moments possible, this is the game for you.

pros:
> you're practically in an action movie
> no p2w, actually, there are no microtransactions to begin with
> amazing gameplay
> nice selection of balanced weaponry (some that you can go akimbo with)
cons:
> small playerbase
but you can change that, can't you? go ahead, play it. It's completly free.

I think this game is lots of fun and a hilariously good time! It would easily sell for a few bucks, but the creators awesomely give it away for FREE! While it may sometimes be difficult to find a match with strangers, I just picked a random room to jump into that was fairly populated, and I had a great time.

The "stunt" mechanics in the game are the key point, and make the game very fun to play, despite any minor problems the game may have.

I would highly recommend this game to anyone who's looking for some multiplayer fun at a great (free) price. If you've got friends that are down to join you in this game, I can only imagine that it gets exponentially better. Personally, I still had a great time playing with strangers. The only problem is that your ability to find a match may be limited by the small size of the community, but honestly I got past that within just a few minutes.

If the cinematic trailer provided above didn't convince you to get the game (cinematic trailers are my pet peeve, tbh) check out my brief gameplay video to get a better idea of what fun this game is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yeo06P4teg0

This game is certainly an oddity. A Woo style atmosphere in the Source Engine where you combat other players (or bots) in run down cityscapes and temples. The combat, while very basic, is fluid and a lot of fun. You can use pistols, SMGs, a shotgun (yeah, only one), rifles, and your fists to dominate the compition. There's also little random events that keep the matches fresh. My major complaint with this game is the dodging or wallrunning (whatever you call it, parkour I guess?). It in no way ruins the experience, but I just can't get the hang of it. Fun game though, would definitely recommend this one, even if it was $5-$10 (did I mention it's free?).
