I was initially upset for the subscription stuff they had going on with WTFast. Then I saw the reviews and got even more turned off.
By going thru the comments, mostly negative, I noticed that a lot of people who were complaining were slight fanatics about ping and lag. For example a 40ms not being improved much, and the like.
In my case, I live in the middle east so my lag is generally around the 200ms mark. That being said, I've found the improvement with WTFast to be substantial. I am not getting 40ms but I am getting better response time and even doing significantly better in games.
What I'm trying to say is, this works great for people who actually have lag problems. This is not however, something that will make you have 0ms when you already have a great below 50ms.
If you're like me, and are wondering whether it ACTUALLY works for high ping problems. Then by all means, get this app. It might be a small investment, but you will definately feel a difference!

Downside: I wish the application would have more games with preloaded configs. Doing it manually is fine, but can be tricky for some people.

I have WTFast included in my router (ASUS RT-AC88U) and it works like a champ, sure it will not work for many players if you have a good connection, but I live in Chile and play World Of Tanks in US server(East) and my ping was reduced from 220ms to 140-150ms, I have been tested a lot playing with my router disabling and enabling the app(router) and works most of the time, specially when the traffic growth in the night. Very pleaced with my subscription which is really cheap, you can give a try but I recommend you to try only if your ISP is POS like mine in my country

I used WTFast ONCE in the past many years ago but am still on their mailing list. Received an email saying that there were "a ton of negative reviews that are blatant lies and pure trolling" which from the reviews I've read so far (bear in mind I only read the most helpful reviews) seem to be reviews based on actual problems with the software and NOT trolling. The reason I write this review is because of what it says next.

"It would be extremely helpful if you can leave a positive review about your experience using WTFast", "This will help us to counter the trolls".

"In exchange, we will give you a free month of WTFast premium time!"
"All you have to do is leave a positive review on our Steam store page, and then link your review in an e-mail"
"If you leave a really impressive review, we will give out 10x 3 months premium time to the 10 best reviews"

TL;DR: They are blatantly trying to buy positive reviews because (from the reviews I've read) their software doesn't work well. Don't support these terribly unethical devs.

EDIT: The devs have released an annoucement talking about this and have removed the incentive for posting positive reviews.

BEWARE OF POSITIVE REVIEWS; THEY MAY HAVE BEEN "BOUGHT" BY WTFAST

no results/10

DISCLAIMER:
I've used WTFast prior to it being added to Steam; the 3 hours on record do not reflect my full experience or time with WTFast.

WTFast is so ineffective I wasn't even going to bother writing a review; that is, until I received an email from the CEO of WTFast, Rob Bartlett, asking me to help them in an attempt to "Quiet the Trolls On Steam!" by posting a positive review.

Obviously, Mr. Bartlett thought it would be completely legitimate to offer a free month of WTFast premium time for my glowing review with a chance to get not one, but THREE whole months of free premium time if my review was amongst the 10 best reviews posted.

That's a really shady proposition and one that I won't be willing to take a part of; for those of you wanting to see the email from Rob Bartlett, CEO of WTFast, here it comes:

We Need Your Help to Quiet the Trolls On Steam!
(& Get Free Premium WTFast Time)

Now we are on Steam, which is awesome, but there are also a TON of trolls on Steam leaving negative reviews; it is very frustrating. We know WTFast isn't perfect and it can be always improved; some of the negative reviews are legit and we are using the feedback to help improve WTFast. However, there are a ton of negative reviews that are blatant lies and pure trolling.

It would be extremely helpful if you can leave a positive review about your experience using WTFast. Simply say which game you were playing, and the results you got with WTFast. This will help us to counter the trolls.

In exchange, we will give you a free month of WTFast premium time!

All you have to do is leave a positive review on our Steam store page, and then link your review in an e-mail to steam@wtfast.com - that's it!

If you leave a really impressive review, we will give out 10x 3 months premium time to the 10 best reviews (to be decided over the next month).

Here is the WTFast Steam store:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/315880/

Thanks for your support, it is because of you that we are the best game accelerator in the world! We will continue to push our tech and make really cool stuff that we know you are going to love.

Have fun!

Here's a screenshot of the same email:

I'll let you guys decide whether or not WTFast is worth a positive review.

Per my personal experience I found that it lowered my ping by 3-5 25% of the time; the other 75% of the time I was showing higher pings of 10-20 (the game I was playing was FFXIV: ARR).

Again, I wouldn't have even bothered leaving a review but the email I received from the company convinced me to do it.

Before going deeper into describing why this doesn't make miracles,
I'd like to emphasize that this software is basically a proxy as it obfuscates your native IP. Some players are getting banned from some games for using this software, so inform yourself if your game has such ban policies.
Aside from that did you know they were bribing people for positive reviews? However turns out those people unfortunately won't get any rewards.
I guess you could say their plan just backfired. Good luck with the PR department.

Judging by the reviews, unless you're from australia and you want to play final fantasy then this seems useless, which doesn't surprise me that much. I'm an IT student and I can say that the advertisement is well crafted for the people who don't know how computer networks work.
The quote that shocked me the most is claiming that packets (internet data) is sent through "detours, bad routing and congested traffic" which is precisely the opposite of how networks are optimized to avoid. Sure exceptions can happen but so can on their "private network" which is just as vulnerable as your ISP routing since the international cables or sattelites are the same. Their attempt for manually routing your traffic for their own servers could help but so could otherwise as stated by quite a few people on the reviews. This is basically a proxy, however you don't use to avoid blocked websites. This whole concept of "GPN (TM lmao)" smells really fishy but since there are a few people who say it helped them I guess you could give a try with a free account. I'd just like to point out that even though this tries to reduce some problems that could occur, it can't change the fact that physical distance will always exist and that your ISP can have high traffic sometimes. Most online games nowadays have servers on each continent, so make sure you're playing on the best one for you.

For possible FAQ read the comments as it might have already been answered. Incase you feel my article is still unreasonable or/and you feel the need to rant, feel free to let it out in the comments. Fear not for your comments will not be deleted whatsoever. Have a nice day, happy gaming.

- I have reported your program.

Not only did you release an email to try and fabricate your product reviews you also insulted the community.

How dare you call the community trolls for expressing their concerns about your product. Ref. http://i.imgur.com/affjgla.png

Review:
--------------------------
Long but detailed!
--------------------------

I've had a horrible time with wtfast in the past. Looks like nothing has changed.

A little light on what i've just said:
- Many, many years ago I tried WTFast. Twice. Didn't go well. First time with Wolrd of Warcraft. Second with Tribes Ascend. On a seperate third occasion I tried to play on a France server. My latency was a steady "550" when my normal connectiont yielded 400.

- Seeking support I was given the "Results differ user to user" speech and that "The service is improving over time" Both times the "Premium service" was bought had let me down.

- I ventured to the forums for help with my problems and got no support. Absolutely nothing. I tried emails and they also fell on deaf ears.

- After all this I found out about green light. I expressed my concerns and the WTFast rep said once again "It's getting better over time" and I should try messing with the programs settings like ports. To which I replied "I can only do that on premium right?" and I was told "That's right." and was offered some free premium time to try it out. All i had to do was contact their support. THIS FAILED.

- I went to contact support. But, you can't contact support unless you're a premium member. All that free users had access too was a "FAQ page" with a few common questions/answers. At this point the forums were "down for maintenance" as they had been for some time. Feb 2014 they were down. July 2014 they were still down.

- The rep replied "we'll have the forums online soon."

- For curiosities sake I checked in Feb 2015. Guess what! They were still down.

This leads to today. It's March 2015. The forums have been removed after years of maintenace and replaced with a reddit feed. Annndd i'm terrified to even try the program. Look at these reviews?! VAC bans?! That's not really wtfast's fault.
Still, the concerns I had in the past remain. I would not use this program.

Although it probably won't stay up for long (maybe). Here's a link to my discussions with WTFast: http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/267048561/45350245082123658/

Sorry for spellings errors, it's 2am and bed time. Ugh!

Thanks for reading!

Want to get banned from your favorite online games? Want pings that resemble those of dial-up or cellular connections? Look no further, WTFast has it all!

EDIT 2: welp, this is hardly surprising: http://i.imgur.com/IFeqSFF.png

EDIT:
Okay it seems some people, including the developer (with that level of reading comprehension, I'm not surprised by the performance of this application), have had trouble deciphering my three sentence review, so let's try this:

I never claimed VAC bans, neither in my (completely fact based) review, nor in my comments.

Just to clarify it one more time:
I DID NOT GET VAC BANNED. I DO NOT PLAY GAMES THAT UTILIZE VAC. AS SUCH THE POSSIBILITY OF ME BEING VAC BANNED IS AT MOST, THEORETICAL.

However: After using WTFast I have been locked out of at least two accounts: My Battle.net account, that I'm currently in the process of restoring access to, and my Hi-Rez account, which I already sorted out with Hi-Rez support.
Of course I'm unable to get actual log data from Blizzard or Hi-Rez to proof without a shadow of a doubt that it was WTFast that caused my account access to be restricted, but it's the only variable that's changed in my usage pattern, and I've never had issues with either account before.

As for my other claim: I'm yet to experience *ANY* actualy benefit from using WTFast. In all the games I tried my latency was equal or worse than connecting directly, both over fiber broadband and LTE connection.

I stand by my review: based on my experience, I definitely would NOT recommend WTFast to anyone.

I hope this clears things up, if after reading this you're unclear on whether or not I was VAC banned, I wasn't. :weed:

I only run this product 5 minutes to write a bad review.

this company is using the email you make an account with as a mailing list to buy good reviews from you.
two really bad things in my opinion.

this product sounds like snake oil anyway adding steps never made anything faster.

I would guess the few people that see a benefit are close to a server.
that way you will always have some that say it will work.

@valve , this makes you look bad.

Used it for League, it lowered my ping by about 20, and then I had ping spikes all game long.
Used it for Civ 5, I tried to invite a friend to my game, it actually invited my friend to join WTFast. My friend would have had to install it to play with me, so I left Civ 5, closed WTFast, and had to re-open the game.
God knows what would happen if I used it for any other game.

-Inconsistant.
-It crashed. Multiple times.
-When it crashes, the actual game connection crashes. So I couldn't re-connect to the game, got reported for afk.
