Fairly decent game for its series and (probably) the end of the Empress story.
Empress Anna has recovered her palace and is now searching for her people and trying to stop evil forces from destroying the island her people belong to.
The game comes with 3 difficulties, differences being amount of sparkle and hints.
The game has a teleport option, with a few teleporters spread across the map abd you have to collect a specific item to activate them. It does help a great deal as there is quite a lot of backtracking in the game.
The voice acting is really not good, same as the other games. in my opinion the main character is really terrible and sounds like she's really just reading from a script, complete with "where was I in my reading.. ah yes there, now I can complete the sentence" moments in practically everything she says. Some other voices are 'spiced up' to sound more magical or whatever and makes it really hard to hear what they're saying and had there not been subtitles I would have missed part of the dialogue. The standard sound settings also make some voices disappear in sound effects, so I suggest you turn the effects volume down from start.
The 3d animations are mostly really bad, which is sad as the ideas behind most of them are very neat. The still-scenes look much better.
The puzzles are decents, but I guess I've gotten more used to better HO scenes since I played the last two because the ones in this game has items almost disappear in gritty blurryness. This is the one point I was happy this game does not have Steam achievements as I ended up randomly clicking after a while, as well as using the hint button. Random clicking has no penalty as long as you click slowly enough.
I liked the non-HO puzzles better, but you better enjoy the "Find out where in this picture this small circle is from" as this game completele drown in this kind of puzzle, and some circles only look like grey-blue blurr and can be hard to place without the hint button.
It also has a few other nuisances, such as the only way to close the journal is clicking the close button in the corner and not anywhere outside of it and that if you enter a room with a dialogue, but does not do as you're supposed to and leave the room and come back to it later, the dialogue will play again, with no skip option.
I really wish there was more story in this game, outside of the main plotline. The world itself is really cool and has lots of neat details.
Bonus points for game of collecting fairies to feed my pink talking sex-toy so it could unleash its magic.
Overall a fitting game into the series, which is fairly average in terms of plot and puzzles, but pretty good with the world-building. Be aware of shortages in some areas and play only if you played the other two games and want to see the story to its (so far) end. Definitely only buy on sale. Recommended in lack of 'meh' button.
