Version 1.3.6. - Network connectivity check

Greetings,

Version 1.3.6. is now available.

In online battle mode, when you create a game, it will throw a warning if it detects that you are not reachable from outside as a host (but it will let you create the game anyway).

When you join a game, it will throw a warning if it detects that the host is not reachable from outside (but it will attempt to join anyway).

As a reminder, for the host to be joinable from outside, the UDP and TCP ports 15127-15129 must be open for both upload and download. This depends on the UPnP router configuration, and, in some cases, on the internet service provider.

Such issues appear on most games that use peer-to-peer online multiplayer - not just this one. The alternative would be to replace the peer-to-peer system with a server-managed system, but this would be too costly on our side (in terms of both implementation and server resource usage).

For information about opening the ports on your router, please refer to this website:
http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm

Cheers.

Pros:
-Nice graphics
-Finally a bomberman clone on steam
-5 player battle
-Difficult campaign (kinda frustrating though :P)

Cons:
-Controller stick moves a cursor in the menu instead of cycling menu items
-Navigating the menu with 4 controllers during a party is annoying (they all work!)
-Movements of the robots look a bit jerky

Still recommend the game though, it's a good clone and I hope that Sanuk Games will continue improving the minor "issues".

While the game doesn't re-invent the wheel. It offers a solid experience that will make fans of a similar game, very happy.
I just wish that the Online mode worked. As I feel that is where the heart and soul of this title lies.
Playing it with friends.

I made a video review to show off some of the features and gameplay of this game!

**Updated review! Had some initial control problems and wrote a review based on that - the developer added me as a friend on Steam and quickly solved the problem! I'm really impressed!

Now that the problem is solved, I can easily say - AWESOME GAME!! If you grew up with Bomberman (or Dynablaster) like I did, then you will absolutely love this game. All the same frantic multiplayer you know and love, with a solid campaign too. Polished off with sweet artwork and some cool extras!

Highly recommended.

It is an O.k. game. It is basically an snes bomberman.. say bomberman 4. At the time of this writing not sure if online play is working properly and as for as local goes there are only 5 map types. all seem to have teh same basic brick pattern, but it does add certain features for each round liek teleport or direction arrows that the bombs will travel in. I hadn't tried all 5 world types so maybe there is a bit of a different feature. I recommend it because its the only legal way to play a bomberman game unless you own a working title for a console or one of the older versions that Hudson soft had on pc. Once they get the online proper if its ont working right already; that will make the difference.

Miss Bomberman? Get this game!

This is a simple, well done tribute to the classic bomberman games.

The 'story' mode in this game is challenging to say the least, enemies can avoid bombs, shoot you and break blocks to name a few. There are also environmental hazards to deal with to make things interesting. Both normal levels and bosses have had me rage quit because of how difficult it can be (I'm also terrible so it's not down to bad game design) but I was soon opening the game back up to try again.

But for the reason I personally bought it for, multiplayer, it's a great game to just chill out to with a bunch of friends on skype or such like, trash talk them all before screwing up and trapping yourself with your own bomb, classic fun!

If you want a low cost bomberman experience you can waste time on and/or play with friends, get this game, you can go one day without a Maccy meal.

Finally a bomberman clone for the PC I have been waiting over 10 years after Atomic Bomberman which was multiplayer only. This is a fine upgrade, It doesn't try anything radical new but there is no need to the old concept still works fine. Campaign mode is actually quiet hard and you really have to grind your teeth in this one. On the other hand skirmish AI is pretty dump though. Mostly kills itself pretty quickly. For the price definitely a worth buy.

Are you a fan of Bomberman ? Then you will probably like this game as well !
You don't know Bomberman ? Then you have to try Bombing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s if you are a fan of arcade games !
Warning : it can get pretty hard, especially against the bosses if you don't have a very good dexterity, and as there are no difficulty choice, prepare yourself to die several times.

Genre - Puzzle/Action Blow 'em up
This is not Bomberman, but it plays like Bomberman and an ancient game called Penguin Towers on the C64 (Google it), You have standard battle modes, where you blow up the other players. There is also a single player adventure mode, where you blow up tricky monsters and bosses, which actually seems quite fun. There are various power ups to collect like the throwing glove etc. My favourite version of Bomberman was on the Sega Saturn and this isn't as good as that, but it is better than some of the Bombeman games out there and for a fair price.

Bombing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s is a pretty funny game. It definitely shines in the multiplayer department, but the solo play is decent as well, albeit pretty hard and sometimes frustrating.
The game reminds me a lot of the good old bomberman, that I used to play good 20 years ago. You drop bombs left and right, and try to demolish all other creatures on screen, while trying not to blow yourself up - easier said than done! You place the bomb exactly where you stand, so it's pretty easy to trap yourself. The bombs don't really indicate, when they are gonna explode, so you have to rely on your inner timer about that. I think in the original bomberman the bombs were changing colors or blinking to help you see, when things are gonna go boom - this could definitely be a positive change for Bombing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s.
The game has quite a few upgrades for your character, or for your bombs - some are mutually exclusive - for example you can't have piercing bombs and bombs with a timer at the same time. Once you start getting a lot of upgrades, downgrades will start to appear to make stuff more interesting. I have not seen an upgrade time out on the screen, but they do get destroyed by bombs or creatures walking over them. The upgrade drop is random and can be somewhat frustrating, if you keep getting not the ones you "need"/ want, in order to achieve 3 stars for the level.
The controls are ok, it would be a plus if I get to rebind them. You can use either a keyboard, keyboard + mouse or a gamepad. My universal gamepad was working just fine, so I used that.
There are quite a few different enemies to blow up and the bosses in adventure mode are pretty challenging as well. The music is solid and I even found it pretty good at times - it's electronic spinoff of classical pieces. The voice acting is pretty witty and well done.
I would like to praise the multiplayer connection options - you can pick from LAN / WAN and even direct IP - always nice to see! Since I think multiplayer is the game's strong suit, I would love to see a 2- and / or 4-pack bundles available for purchase.
TL:DR you can watch me blow stuff up, myself included, in my overview video here :

This game is amazing and i'm happy i got it. I do wish there was some sort of random online play though, maybe even with ranking, or unlocking skins, a function like that would make this game huge because there's skill involved. VERY easy to get into, very hard to master. Not to mention frantic fun! That said, the online play is old school, have to set up server etc, too much of a hassle nowadays. A quick "online play" function would rock!

(+) Love the concept of playing the old Bomberman
(+) Use my controller to play
(+) Soundtrack = addictive :)
(-) Multiplayer/wan/lan "Which is the BIGGEST drawback".

(Why??)

I have bought this game for 3 other guys in our group, with the intention to play ONLINE.(multiplayer).
Since the start we haven't been able to play either LAN/WAN.
Latest update (should solve alot of issues). Still no joy.
Been giving this game quite the time and chances to improve through some updates.

Buy now ? NO. Why ? Simple, no multiplayer games/servers whatsoever.
Unless you want to play Singleplayer with OP end-bosses, feel free to spend your hard earned bucks on this game.

[Update] Ports are forwarded and reachable. Used different probing tools to show they are reachable. [/update]
