Update released for the T-38A Talon

An update for MilViz’s T-38A Talon is now live. If you have automatic Steam updates enabled, this update will be downloaded next time you restart the Steam client.

The change list is as follows:

Removes the non-functional GPS key command (Shift + 3) from the aircraft
Updated manual to reflect the new version.

This update is approx. 2MB

Great FSX BUTif u just want the normal Fs get this one.

In resume: If you want more planes and programs (there are awesome programs that you can take a career, buy planes, transport passengers or cargo with random failures) DON'T EXPECT ANYTHING IN STEAM EDITION. Get the real version instead.

Don't expect to use any other add-on programs for the game
Don't expect to use any other aircraft if not paying on steam. Others won't work! (Like planes form PMDG).
Don't expect to join any other program to multiplayer and ATC. Others won't work! (Like Vatsim).

Its aweful and DOESNT LAUNCH. Dispite all my attempts at reinstalling it, the fine " -console" is either corrupt or missing and so it just shuts down. Its in a word a waste of money and, well, crap. Its really a waste of time and money.

Microsoft flight simulator on steam? Cool right? thats what I thought... I sold my CS:GO skins and purchased the game. Then i completed the 14gb install and started the game. This is where problems began. I noticed that every single loading menu took way too long to load,for example, i completed like the first tutorial mission and then hit the button to exit the menu and laod the mission selector screen. I spent 15 minutes on the black screen of 'Loading' and then proceeded to force shutdown the game and restart it. Controls do feel nice and as a simlator its just as good as the boxed edition, but the loading is horrendous and felt unplayable. I then issued a refund request and returned the game to steam after uninstalling this waste of time. Multiplayer was alright but overhyped, my experience on multiple servers was just 13 year olds talking about the 2016 Presidential election and other random topics. I would recommned buying the boxed version of this game instead.

Because of 911 they had to take out the ability to crash a plane into the buildings. All because some guy said they(the terrorist or saudis) MIGHT have used this game.
Then because the terrorist teams were of Saudi orgin and Saudi pilots from the air force....America then invaded Iraq. Then Colon Powell waved a substance of white powder in glass tube and it was all fine.

What the hell, Microsoft?

Despite the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ optimization, This is a fairly good simulator. It has great missions, and multiplayer, and good aircraft. Not to mention you can download aircraft. I'd give this a rating of 6/10. Optimization has to do a HUGE part of it.
If you like frames, and you don't care about the multiplayer, I'd suggest checking out FS2004. (It's not on Steam, just buy a copy off eBay or something.) FS2004 basically is the same exact thing as FSX. I use FS2004 WAY more than I use FSX. Great frames, more freeware addons, etc.

I have always wanted this game, and finally I got around to it- this game didn't dissapoint.

Pros:

Easy controls
variety of planes
you can fly out of pretty much anywhere
multiplayer

Cons:
Crashes are unrealistic, but hey... this game is 10 years old.

10/10, complete classic, multiplayer, and just hours of fun.

-Get the game from steam sale
-Looks like a nice casual game
-Gets into 737 and takes off from JFK
-Gets gear up and retracts flaps
- Starts Autopilot
-Everything is great
1 Hour later
-Heads toward YYZ
-Gets cleared from tower to land
- Extends flaps and gear is down everything looks good
- Disables Autopilot
- Forgets about auto-Throttle
- Plane can't decend much
- I start panicking and and pulls up
- Plane goes inverted
- Plane crashes into highway

BEST GAME EVER 10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND

I have over 3500 hours flying experience on Microsoft Flight Simulator X, most of it on the old Classic/Boxed edition. Not surprisingly, I recommend it, and it's good to see a new generation of pilots coming through with this Steam edition.

But it's not for everyone. If you want a storyline, either a basic narrative or one that's supplemented with downloadable content, it's not for you. If the words "open-world" and "sandbox" send you running, it's not for you. If you don't want to create your own goals and activities, it's not for you.

But if you like exploring both your own imagination and the 200 million square miles we call "Home", you couldn't wish for better. If you like perfecting your abilities and maybe even developing them into real-world skills, you could do worse than try it out. Or if you just enjoy socializing with other flying enthusiasts, you'll find there's a whole bunch of active communities out there that use Microsoft Flight Simulator X.

Great game, would recommend to anybody that is interested in flying. Reasonably priced for what you get and also the fact that you can get addon scenery, aircraft, and much more for free. My Computer: Dell Inspiron 15R

- I can normally run FSX at 40 fps just fine when I have my laptop plugged in, on a cooling fan and running a second screen. I use the Saitek x52 Pro split joystick set and it works great. I would not recommend FSX on a laptop like mine but if that is all that you have then you can get by with it. If you have an iPad like me they are a great kneeboard that you can use for airport charts.

Really fun game, wouldn't call it a serious sim unless you are playing singleplayer, there are just too many people that mess around on multiplayer.
Otherwise as I said before It is a really fun game.

I have simmed with FSX boxed for a long time now, and I just recently made the switch to SE, and I must say, I really enjoy having multiplayer back without worrying about LAN servers. SE allows you to hop into a lobby of your choice, or even create your own session for simming with friends.
Likes:
MASSIVE MOD COMMUNITY! YOU WILL LOVE FINDING NEW AIRCRAFT TO DOWNLOAD AND FLY!
1000s of FREE AIRCRAFT AVAILABLE!
Slightly optimized for new gen PCs & hardware
Great multiplayer aspect revived via steam servers (versus obsolete Gamespy)
Works with a ton of my joysticks, yokes, and even custom mapped switch panels
Fun with friends: FSX is great alone, but if your looking into SE, you probably want to fly with other pilots around the world! This is the main reason I picked up SE and I am very happy.
Cons:
Some public servers are pretty chaotic & uncontrolled. If you want a true flight experience, you must VATSIM or host your own server and invite your friends. The public servers are still fun!
OVERALL:
If you are reading this, and you enjoy aviation, avionics, ATC, airports, or if you want to be a pilot some day, this is a MUST HAVE! FSX is to pilot enthusiasts as Nascar is to racing fans! :)

TIP: DO NOT PAY FULL PRICE!! FSX GOES ON SALE PRETTY OFTEN; SCOOP IT DURING A SALE FOR >$10!!!

The game itself is satisfactory for the beginners into virtual flight; on the other hand when you start using the expansion packs and other downloadebles from the net that are compatible with this version; it's a whole new world and you're gonna enjot it :)

What can I say it's FSX. I've been flying a boxed copy of FSX since release, and the Steam Edition is an improvement. It's been given some optimizations from DoveTail, but it's still a 32 bit program. So while it does run nicer then the boxed copy, you still have to watch out for the OOM errors. That bring said grab it on sale you wont go wrong.

FSX:SE has been out now for a while so the majority of the payware add ons will work. If you're not upto paying for some quality add ons, there is a huge selection of free add ons.
