About This Game

Men of War: Red Tide is a sequel to the critically acclaimed RTS Men of War. Red Tide introduces a new story driven campaign based on the writings of Soviet scribe Alexander Zorich, it also includes dozens of new or upgraded units and weapons.
Men of War: Red Tide is a stunning mixture of RTS and a third-person action that introduces a new fighting force known for its brutal efficiency during the height of World War II. Played out across more than 20 missions, Men of War: Red Tide allows to take command of the feared "Black Coats," the nickname given to Soviet Marines, an elite combat group specializing in engagements near the shoreline.
The player has direct control of new game units including the Black Coats, tanks, self-propelled guns, armored trains, landing craft, artillery and new enemy emplaced weapons to capture and use. New air support options include fighters, bombers, hydroplanes; cruisers, destroyers and gun boats which provide naval fire support.
Fighting during the Black Sea Campaigns of WWII, history buffs and WWII aficionados will recognize theaters of battle such as Odessa, Sevastopol, Theodosia, Eltingen, Nikolaev and Constanta.

  • 23 missions - Soviet, German, Romanian and Italian forces
  • Six intense historical battles and landing operations during 1941-1945
  • Over 100 different military units: tanks, artillery, armored cars, planes (fighters, bombers, transporters), war ships and boats (cruisers, torpedo boats, gunboats)

Don't gtet me wrong, love the other ones. But this one is just too hard to control. When I play if I tap the camera move button even a little bit it shoots my view across the map.

Some might say its not as good as other Men of War titles. I say, dont believe them! That atmosphere, fighting on a battleifields that are less known to "common folk" that the usual ones like Anzio, Normandy, Kursk. As a lover of WW2 history i just loved to read "fresh" memories after each campaign i completed. That atmosphere and feeling was just so awesome!

Men of War: Red Tide is a sequel the original Men of War. It is a RTS / RTT game that focuses more on strategy and tactics rather than base building. No ♥♥♥♥ sherlock. Men of War: Red Tide could be considered the last "real" Men of War game.
I've already went through more or less half the game. Admittedly I played on Easy.
(What a loser)

A lot of people say that Red Tide is one of the hardest Men of War games ever in the existance of ever. I, quite honestly found it kind of an exaggeration. Maybe. I've played the original Men of War, so I have a leg to stand on I suppose.

People that are new to the Men of War games WILL find this extremely hard and most likely give up on the first mission. I was admittly stumped on the first mission. It's not because I had no idea what to do. It's because there was too much infantry to control. Men of War is basicaly NOTHING like CoH or whatever people compare Men of War nowadays.

A lot of people say that Men of War is realistic. I kind of have to disagree. It's kind of what I call "arcade" realism. It isn't like Arma with bullet fall or Warthunder with highly detailed models with the tiniest thing that can contribute to armour. Everything is downsized, for you know, a game that was technically released in 2006 / 2004 . Armour is somewhat general. The side is the side, the front is front that takes into consideration major variations, (Boxy parts of the front can be pentrated easier than sloped parts.) the engine is the engine, etc. Although you'll be rarely be using tanks, it's good to know if Bestway... Or is it DMC? 1C? Best1CMind, is kind enough to give you armoured support.

Enough of that, let's talk about infantry.
Infantry is basic. They don't have organs or blood loss, they just have a health bar the regens fairly slowly. Bandages can be used to heal.

♥♥♥♥.

I forgot to mention something, I can't shove it anywhere else, so I'll put it here.

Every soldier, tank, artillery, or whatever vehicle exist in the universe, has a inventory with ammo that will be consumed on use. Vehicles both have ammo and fuel that will be consumed. But, the A.I. gets a pass on this and has infinite ammo and fuel. (Don't complain, they had to make those fight scenes somehow.)

On to the other important part now, missions!
You command (Without you actually existing.) soviet marines, or an officer... Or a recon unit? The normal soviet arm-- ♥♥♥♥ IT. SOVIET MARINES, one of the deadlist soldiers of WW2, (Sort of like Spetznaz) you take on seemingly impossible or hopeless tasks and atempt to turn the situation in your favour for the victory of the war.
Missions are either extremely hard, grueling, save scumming, task... Or just a walk in a barbed wired ,mined, explosion filled, stealth park for people who played other "real" Men of War games. These missions is like a combination of micro management Faces of War / Soldiers: Heroes of WW2 sometimes and a really macro management version of Men of War. For example, you can go from a small group of units suriving off of what you have to (too) many units with almost equal amount of expendablity. Despite this, it is possible for most missions to not lose a single soldier or vehicle throughout the entire game.

I'm doing it.

So you can too.

Nothing is impossible, comrade.

Oh yeah, in comparison to the other Men of War games, the only nation you can play as is the Soviet Union, or USSR, or Russia, or... Whatever the ♥♥♥♥ you want to call it. Although, it adds to more (Enemy) nations that haven't been featured in other Men of War games, Romanians and Italians. (Italians partially exist in the original Men of War in the form of a single armoured car, light tank, and destroyer.)

What a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ review. I should go kill myself.

>ordered to attack artillery position with a single squad
>"ok"
>send speedboat with 3 men inside to take it
>kill a few guys
>"this is easy"
>speedboat bursts into flames after taking 1 shot
>"oh no"
>make them swim to the objective
>one is gunned down mercilessly
>down to 2 guys
>knock out artillery crews with grenades
>waves of enemies are sent to take the guns back
>all of them are gunned down by my 2 soldiers
>take control of the guns and turn them towards enemy trenches
>friendly reinforcements arrive to take the town

It can be difficult at times but it can be pretty fun at the same time

I beat the entire game. Do I get an award yet?

In all seriousness. This game is a sort of "sibling" to Men of War, focusing more on the U.S.S.R (The Black Sea Fleet/Seamen respectively.) than the last game. And it's not some sort of quick-cash in that adds maybe 1 or 2 more missions. No no no, it adds many more. And they are (mostly) all hard as ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Even when I replay them. I still reccomend getting Men of War and Men of War: Red Tide over getting something like Company of Heroes 2. Which is basically reccomending two games that are five dollars each, over getting one game that is 40 dollars. And the reason I say this...?

You can't have a tiger blown up by rifle fire in this game.

In all seriousness though. GET THIS GAME AND Men of War. You will not regretti. And have lotsa spaghetti.

This game was hard becase of the units not following my orders half the time. Impossible to anything when they don`t move and walk past or stand next to enemies without shoting. Controlls are horrible and the AI is dreadfull. I do not recommend this at all and do not understanc why everyone recommends this

This game is steadily working it's way to become my all time favorite Men of War game. It is a bit buggy sometimes on missions and it is not uncommon to restart a mission sometimes when things just go completely wrong and you get yourself into a position where you just cant win the mission anymore.

No music during gameplay (who needs it) and on average missions are hard and require a more deeper analysis of the field in order to figure out how to advance and sometimes there just isn't any easy way forward - which in turn makes for a good atmosphere as we are playing as russian infantry here so one can expect things to get icky and sticky. Them bodies just keep piling up it seems. And not just enemies this time.

First couple of missions can be really tough even on Easy so be warned. Other than that it is very much like Faces of War and Men of War as far as game mechanics go. Game also likes to bring in new units outside the map and/or expand the game area once a objective has been reached.

If you are considering MoW series do not start the MoW series with this game. Red Tide is 'advanced class' material so be warned.

edit: completed all missions. This game is indeed the best in the series. Hard and demanding but oh so rewarding.

This is the hardest ♥♥♥♥ing game I've ever played. When you can't beat the third mission on easy there's something wrong. I mean sure four guys vs a gazillion tanks and infantry with mounted guns everywhere shouldn't be possible IRL and I guess the game simulates this pretty well, but... it's a game and it's fun to play as it actually has an intersting, realistic campaign that shows the true colors of the Red Army in contrast to Company of Heroes 2. If you beat this game you're a masochist and you got my respect.

"You have 8 men, now please conquer this entire town full of enemies." -Easy mode

Hardcore strategy with the feel of an action game, plus you can do that cool thing where you can take control of a unit personally.

If you were disappointed by Company of Heroes 2 or just want a difficult WWII RTS then this is for you.

Probably my second favorite Men of War game behind Assault Squad, but is easily the most difficult! Took me forever to finally beat the entire game. This game is based in the Russians marines and their fight in WW2, the missions are not repetitive and fun to play the game is challenging and maybe even hard but after some tries you can pass the missions, maybe even the best single player campaign in Men of War series in my opinion, one fact that let me sad there's no music for menu...WHY??

I just finished the entire game on hard.

Some missions are FAR harder than any other, and require hundreds of loads, which is really painful in a game like this which takes a long time to load.

It was -OK- if you like Men of War. It completely lacks any music and recycles almost everything from the original game.

Find it somewhere cheap and play it on normal/easy.

Best strategy game money can buy! Very hard, even on the easy setting it's hard... I really love how each person you command is different, They each own thier own weapons, ammo, rank and specialty(s). You can tell your men to loot bodys to get ammo, guns, medpacks, ect..Very fun and very interactive. This game will always stand in good light with me. Great job 1C Company!
