I don't play Telltale games, but i was shocked at how great Back to the Future was. The graphics give away its age, but the storyline is exciting and is amazingly entertaining.

Really nice and a well made game, brings me back to past when i was a kid
and when i wanted to play a game and here it is :)

This game is everything what fans of these movies wanted sequel to be and this game
apart from other telltale games i've played really wants you to use the items you found around

- 5 Episodes of really nice gameplay
- Awesome voice acting
- Edna is a annoying
- Worth of money

Buy it if you are a really big ♥♥♥ of this title, my suggestion is to wait for the game to go on sale :)

"Back to the Future" all-time fan here.

This game is as good as the movies: it's split into 2hrs or so long, 5 Episodes.
The new story begins at Twin Pines Mall, soon after Doc's sent Einstein into the future and then continues by a logical thread over the following episodes.

"Back to the Future: The Game" is quite a simple point and click adventure but that's its strong point, in my opinion: quests are pretty damn logic, no weird stuff to be done and an easy inventory mechanism (no need to combine items).
There's also a very well done in-game hint system which gives you advices and suggestions before actually telling you what to do next, so you won't get spoiled too fast and will have some time to try and figure out the "problem" yourself (yeah, I used it a couple of times).

Put that together with a solid story line, cute graphics and never boring characters and you get "Back to the Future Part IV".

A phenomenal adventure game that not only features great puzzles, but is driven by a funny, heatwarming story and incredible acting. It's the best sequel that Back to the Future has ever managed to produce, and made me genuinely care about the original movie even more.

I really like the movie Back to the Future. I really like point and click games. I really wanted to make it through at least ONE episode of this game, but I couldn't do it. Even after multiple tries, I just couldn't do it.

*Bad/slow movement controls
*Tedious tasks
*Slow/boring storyline
*Unskippable cutscenes that play over and over again

Really, I don't remember having fun while playing this game. Big disappointment.

Back to the Future: The Game is the Back to the Future Part IV we never got. The story is pretty much what you'd expect from a BTTF film: the Doc got himself trapped in the past, and it's up to Marty to rescue him. Sure, some might say that's a rehash of the third film, but it's much, much more than that, as the story quickly takes some interesting twists, and Marty must make sure he's able to return to the Hill Valley he remembers.

The game features great voicework thanks to Christopher Lloyd returning as Doc, and A.J. Locascio doing a fantastic work as Marty, due to Michael J. Fox being unable to perform. Even then, Michael J. Fox has a nice cameo in the final chapter, and it's great to have the original time travellers in the same place again.

As far as the gameplay goes, it's a somewhat simple point-and-click adventure. It's not as complex as Telltale's later games, like The Walking Dead, as this game isn't heavily focused on choice; and, to be honest, it's good that it doesn't, considering the nature of the story, you don't want to add branching storylines on top of messing up the timestream. Even then, it's good some nice puzzles, some which may have you scratching your head if you're not used to playing games in this genre. However, the game is good enough to provide hints in case you become stuck. Still, I'd place a greater emphasis on the story when recommending this game, as I consider that to be the best part of it.

About the story, while some people might have found it a bit confusing (and I don't blame them, that always happens when time travel is involved), I must say I really enjoyed it. It really feels like BTTF4, and I guess that's only natural, considering that Bob Gale (who wrote the films) contributed in the writing of this game.

Well, I don't know what more to say. If you're a big fan of BTTF (like me) then go ahead and try out this game, it's great!

Well, I don't quite know what to say. The game feels like "Back to the Future" all over again, focused on 1931 as the origin of the time problems, switching through various incarnations of 1986 until the timeline is fixed... in a way. As a bonus, this time around we get to meet young Emmet Brown as well.

The game itself could use a few improvements, like merging the 5 parts into just one game or at least sharing the settings between the parts, but the story is pretty much top, and I liked the voice acting too. And heck, the ending... if you liked the movies, the ending is just heavy. If you didn't like the movies then you probably shouldn't play this at all.

It's hard to deny that Back to the Future games have had a sordid history. When the best game based on the series up until now was a Grand Theft Auto: Vice City mod, it doesn't speak very well of the efforts that came before it. Still, with Telltale's new effort, the series finds what might be its first good commercial adaptation. With excellent use of the movies running jokes, themes, and soundscape, and Telltale's clever writing and puzzle-crafting, Back to the Future manages to be the first commercial Back to the Future video game worth the name.

Taking place shortly after Back to the Future part 3, in the wake of Doc Brown leaving Hill Valley, the game opens with Marty McFly and his father preparing Doc's possessions for an estate sale. However, when the time-traveling DeLorean returns to 1986, empty save for a cassette recorder, a lady's shoe, and Doc Brown's dog, it's up to you, as Marty, to uncover where and when Doc is, what kind of trouble he's in, and how to rescue him.

The games dialogue is pitch-perfect, with Christopher Lloyd reprising his role as Doc Brown, and AJ LoCascio stepping into Martys role with an uncanny interpretation of the character that I could barely distinguish from Michael J. Fox. Telltales writing is spot on, hitting many of the movie series running jokes, while being more than clever in its own right. Whether it's a soup-delivering do-gooder announcing that she has to run food to the asylum because the inmates are just crazy for it, or Doc Brown warning that eating at the soup kitchen will cause permanent damage to Martys digestive system in the same panicked tones he uses to refer to the destruction of time itself, the writing is spot on, and the dialogue is delivered expertly.

The games graphics are charming; with a cartoonish bent that pervades the game. The character designs fit their roles in the game, and while the differences in the level of caricature can be momentarily alarming, as the comparison between Marty and Doc Browns proportions took me aback when I first noticed them, the interpretation works better, and the characters have more life and expression to them than a more realistic approach would have. Meanwhile, the music draws its cues from the films, with numerous familiar themes coming back around, and fans of the movies scores will find a lot to recognize and enjoy.

The gameplay itself is a relatively simple adventure game. The puzzles are all either dialogue-based or involve using items straight from the inventory with little combination or other elaborate inventory tricks to be found. A robust help system will ease players who can't boggle through the solutions through the game, though the puzzles are straightforward enough that veteran players might not find much to challenge them. Still, the focus is on the story rather than the puzzles, and they manage to succeed brilliantly, especially with a surprisingly tense set of puzzles at the very end.

Telltale Games' legions of fans have every reason to fall in love with it, because it's a cross between the developer's trademark point-and-click gameplay and the excellent story of the Back to the Future series. Telltale managed to make me feel eight years old again. It may not be time travel, but it could be the closest you can get without a flux capacitor.

I have only just finished Episode 5 and I can tell you now, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. The makers have done a superb job at getting everything spot on, the story, the voice acting, the animation, all of it. It really did live up to it's potential, it was like seeing the fourth installment of the Back to the Future. I have nothing negative to say about it other than it gets slightly buggy at times but that doesn't effect the gameplay. I recommend you get this game if you are BTTF fan, I assure you that it was well worth the money (although one of my friends gifted it to me)

I heard a lot of praise for this game, and I was surprised it turned out so well. The story is great, it's the closest thing we'll get to Back to the Future 4. The gameplay is very similar to games such as Sam & Max season 1 through 3. However, after a long time since released, there are still some bugs left. A few times the dialogue voice over was missing, and a few objects loaded a bit too late.
The game has a lot of puzzles, since is one of Telltale Games older series, most of them are good, but there were a few odd one, activated by a cutscene that I needed to start.
I would recommend you play this only if you saw the movies, since there are a lot of references, and key moments, that make this game so great.

As much as I love Back To the Future and Telltale Games I can't believe it took me so long to find out about this game. The developers captured the feel of the movies perfectly. I love the little throwbacks to the films scattered throughout the game. You can tell there was a lot of love for the source material behind the development of this game. Playing it I feel like I'm watching a fourth installment in such a perfect franchise.

If you are a fan of BTTF and have played other Telltale Games and have enjoyed them, then this is a no brainer. I have played through all 3 seasons of Telltale's Sam & Max games, so BTTF: The Game felt like familiar territory. So far, I have completed the first 2 episodes of this point-and-click adventure series, and I have enjoyed them. The story is well written, picking up where the movie triology left off, and feels like it fits quite naturally with the movie story line. The plotline is very much in line with the movies, where time travel inadvertently, and disastrously, messes up the time line, which then needs fixing. This time, Marty and Doc need to visit Prohibition-era Hill Valley to fix history. The voice acting is pretty good and the actor portraying Marty does a pretty good Michael J. Fox impression.

Now on to my gripes...the puzzles are very sensical but they are almost too easy; at times it's almost spelled out for you what you need to do. So far I haven't needed to use the game's built in hint system. Next, the navigation in the game's quasi-3D environments is frustrating. Getting Marty to negotiate his way around the scenery is clunky. This game has the same annoying navigation that was introduced in the last season of the Sam and Max games.

Other than those 2 gripes, these games are enjoyable for BTTF fans who want more stories with the characters they love and who, are interested in exploring more lore about Hill Valley, the McFlys, and the Tannens. Oh, we also get to see Doc when he was much younger.

From the first moment I started the game and that familiar overture started to play, my heart jumped with excitement and I was ten years old again seeing Back to the Future for the first time.

Each episode is a fantastic trip into the time-travel exploits of Marty McFly and Doc Brown, adding more background to the trilogy and taking root as the perfect fourth installment.

While the graphic-style is a little on the goofy side, it somehow works ... and soon you are engaged within the universe.

I cannot recommend this game enough, especially to any fan of the films.

Top notch ...

Back to the Future: The Game is quite possibly the best movie-based game ever made. If you are at all a fan of the films, you will definitely enjoy this title.

The story picks up after Part III, where Doc Brown has disappeared, and when his DeLorean appears out of nowhere, you must take control of Marty McFly and travel through time to find Doc and prevent the destruction of the space-time continuum. As the story really is this game’s main selling point, I won’t spoil it for you – find out what happens as you play through. At one point Bob Gale, the producer for the films, stated that the game’s story can be essentially considered Back to the Future Part IV.

The gameplay is highly reminiscent of the old LucasArts SCUMM adventure games such as The Secret of Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion, with the only major difference being that you control Marty directly with the WASD keys and not by clicking where you want him to go. To progress, you interact with characters to learn new information, and pick up and use items in appropriate places to complete goals. Those goals are visible in your inventory, and if you get stuck, you can ask for up to 3 optional hints (depending on the puzzle you are on).

The game is divided into 5 episodes, and each one is a separate game that must be downloaded individually. This is fine, but just a heads-up - your play records won’t be combined.

You can save at any time you’d like – IF YOU AREN’T DOING A PUZZLE. If you are in an action sequence of any sort, or doing a multi-step puzzle, you cannot save until it has been completed. This is a slight flaw in that it sometimes forces you to play for extended periods of time if you don’t want to scrap what you’ve been working on.

Each episode will take you 2 to 4 hours to complete, and the game in total will clock in at around 15 hours. It’s a very fun adventure and a surprisingly thoughtful story. The difficulty level isn’t too high, and you won’t be forced to go to the Internet for a walkthrough more than 2 or 3 times if you’re familiar with point-and-click games and have good lateral thinking skills. Unfortunately, the replay value here is very low, simply due to the type of game Back to the Future is. Once you’ve completed the game, there really isn’t a point to going back and playing through it a second time, because it will just be the same story over again. But for a single play-through, it’s a lot of fun.

In conclusion, I would highly recommend Back to the Future: The Game to anyone who is a fan of the films (or the LucasArts games) and is looking for another story featuring the characters they know and love. It’s a true BTTF adventure from start to finish =)

Hello

A great value for anyone that loves classic 80s movies.

Telltale Games, as developer, looks to have made most of the right choices, when it comes to making this 5 episodic game.

Great story line that is very true to the source material.
Good graphics that capture the characters in a familiar way.
Great sound, even though the theme song might be overused the rest has a “wow” effect.
Good and simple game play that makes it fun to solve the puzzles.
Many choices for replay value.

Best regards
Tycoon

The game has a great script and the voice acting is really good. The animations for facial expressions are done surprisingly well. My only complaints are the save points seem few and far between and some of the puzzles are quite elaborate. The hint system though is quite good and I only had to resort to using game guides on the net about 3 times. The 5th part to the game is great. If you like this type of game I would pick this up.
