What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Isomer is currently under heavy alpha development. We are continuing to release regular updates to add new features and expand on existing content already present.

Any reported bugs we will work to actively fix as well as adjusting gameplay balance, features and content to improve Isomer over time.

We love hearing your feedback on our forums and actively seek to incorporate changes and new features into upcoming builds so come and get involved with the development of Isomer!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“A few months, enough time to polish and balance all of the mechanics and add all the features we originally planned.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Fundamentally it will be very similar to how the alpha is now. Where it will differ is in the level of graphical polish, number of features and overall feel.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current build is mature, stable and has all the core gameplay mechanics in place. Over time each will get more attention and incremental improvements as we look to reach 1.0”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We are offering Isomer at a reduced price during our Early Access phase to allow as many people as possible to contribute to the development of the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback and suggestions are extremely important to us. We are making the game we always wanted to play, but we want the community to enjoy playing it as much as we do. We actively seek to incorporate feedback and suggestions quickly into upcoming builds.”

Game could be very nice and worth recommendation but it seems to be abondoned.

To top it off, the Dev does not find time to respond to players questions but he has time for deleting our posts from Steam forums.

AVOID THIS GAME AND THIS DEVELOPER.

________
Impression prior the game was abondoned:

After countless hours spent already in this game prior it got on Steam (still alpha yet delivering more then enough fun) i have to say- GREAT JOB!

This game allows you to take control over your enemy from the UFO/X-COM series ;) , in real time!

+ take real time control (pausing is allowed) over your pillaging alien army
+ mine, build, grind resources & xp, explore, defend, conquer and kill them all (the pitiful human scum)!
+ look at the clock every now and then to think how much time can pass in so little time :)
+ witness/take part in ;) the game development of a cool game with the Dev who really listens to his playerbase

-/+ i`d still love to have the possibility of using turn based fight system
-/+ graphic, personally i like it but some ppl are all for full 3d. Their loss :)
-/+ despite the obvious similarities to ufo/xcom the game plays more like gnomoria or towns

A great concept for a game with loads of potential that has, sadly, been completely abandoned by its developer before being finished. So unless you want to spend your money on an abandoned, unfinished project then give it a pass.

It's a real shame, too, because this game could have been great with more work & polish, but sadly that will never happen now.

While what is there is quite enjoyable and held a lot of promise, it does indeed appear that the developer has abandoned the game.
My suggestion to anyone thinking of purchasing is don't!

The game has been apparently abandoned by it's developer at what still feels like a very early stage of development, hence my playtime. I was hoping it would eventually develop into at least a good game, if not a great one, sadly it looks like it won't be the case.

Isomer is an interesting mixture of surivial and basebuilding gameplay from games such as Dwarf Fortress combined with combat and exploration elements inspired by the Xcom series. The overall premise can be summed as reverse Xcom, you play as an alien force stumbling upon an already habited planet yet seeking to colonize never the less. Starting off with your humble dropship and ten workers, it is your job to survive and thrive in an hostile world. Overall in its inital steam release status, I'd say that Isomer is a very promising game. Currently I feel as though the foundations for a great base building and exploration are present though the content may be too barebones for some. So far I've noticed four diffrent unit classes, a wide array of generated structures for the player to explore and various different building blocks for the player to use. However the selection of middle and late game structures don't seem to be implemented. For example you can build your base to the extent of its layout with lights and lifts to different floors, but there are no doors present in the game nor any sizeable modules and things to fill up these rooms apart from soils to contain reasources.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but this game really scratches an itch for me. It's an interesting blend of old school X-Com, Minecraft, and a little bit of tower defense thrown in for good measure. I find it hard to put down as there is a continual "in a few more seconds my next step in the grand plan will come to fruition". It's definitely still being polished but there is a lot here to like already. I've easily gotten my money's worth already, and am still discovering things each time I play.
