抢先体验有何好处?

“Sky Nations has been iterative game from it's initial release on other platforms. Developed by lone developer Ben Johnson it has been hugely beneficial to have community input and experiment with mechanics and change them based on feedback. Early Access fits this perfectly and will help to make Sky Nations a better game when it releases it's complete state!”

这款游戏的抢先体验时期将持续多久?

“Sky Nations will hopefully be leaving Early Access in Q4 2014 as a more completed and rounded experience.”

计划中的完整版本和抢先体验版本到底有多少不同?

“The full version will be a combination of all the updates during Early Access.

Features planned for the finished game are:
  • Capturable Sectors for Nations. Which can defend your ships and creations.
  • More player and ship weapons of various different types.
  • More island types with creatures and mechanics based around them.
  • Manufacturable ships and other perks for Nations.
  • Music that adapts to what is happening to the player.
  • A sound overhaul to many of the current placeholder sound effects.
  • Further access to server functionality in the Modding API.

抢先体验版本的现状如何?

“Sky Nations has a lot of the base mechanics available to play that will make up the finished game. However this is still a game in development. There is still quite a lot of content based on these mechanics to come and a lot of community driven bug testing too reach a stable build and balanced builds.”

在抢先体验期间和结束之后,游戏价格会有所不同吗?

“Sky Nations will likely rise in price when the game is more complete and has more content, however those who purchase the game now will receive these updates for free up to the game's completion.”

在开发过程中,你们是如何计划让玩家社区参与进来的?

“Since Sky Nations receives iterative updates every couple of weeks community feedback is super important to both balancing and improving the game. Since it's first public release the community has helped find bugs and suggest features and changes that have improved the game significantly.”

Free Multiplayer Demo and New Player Experience

Update 0.84 is out, if you're wondering why this update is out a week ahead of the usual update schedule it's because it coincides with the Steam demo launch. Which will be out today at 9pm GMT roughly. It also revises a lot of the demo player limitations and new player experience when first starting Sky Nations.

New Demo
Demo's out!

The demo has been revised considerably for it's Steam launch. A few of the more nuisance limitations such as not being able to set respawn points have been removed. Don't worry you can still play with other players who own the game on the Community servers as before. The new limitations consist of the following:

  • Demo players cannot enter a system claimed by a Nation they are not part of.
  • Demo players can only login to the Community Servers and play with people who own the game. Not player servers.
  • Demo players cannot create Nations. However you can join them.
  • Demo players cannot create items with Item Kits
  • Demo players cannot change their player skin.
  • Demo players receive the same updates as people who have bought the game.
  • There is no time limit on demo accounts.
Depending on feedback these limitations may be altered in the future. Easier access via Steam and these new revisions will hopefully bring more players to try out Sky Nations and give the existing playerbase a much needed boost. Which brings us to the next change.

Better New Player Experience
To make Sky Nations a bit more welcoming to new players a simple hints system has been added to help curb the learning curve. The hints appear when you login to any server and can be simply toggled off in the Options menu for veteran players. These hints will run you through the basics of crafting, ship building, tools, controls and navigation. You can also move back and fourth through them at your own leisure using the < and > keys.

To bolster this the Guides in the in-game Knowledge Base(B key by default) have also been expanded to cover more topics and have also been updated to reflect changes since they were written.

There is also a short video on making your first ship. Which I hope to make more of when I have more time to do so.

Gameplay Changes
This update also includes many changes to various mechanics. The major ones are:
  • Ship Production time for Ship Constructors has drastically been reduced. Very large expensive ships such take upward to about 18 minutes.
  • Holding a block in your hand that emits light when placed will now emit light in your hands.
  • Escape Bubbles from Escape Drives no longer kill players. However you will not be teleported with the ship if it is recalled.
  • Atomic Waste now has 20hp.
  • Community Servers now show as green in the server list. You can also now see the server version for post 0.8 servers.
For the full change log check below.

Updating
If you own the game on Steam the client will be automatically updated, those who own it outside of Steam the game will be updated when you run the launcher. For server hosts you can download the new server files here.

Make sure you backup your server files before updating. To update close your server with /shutdown in-game. Then just copy the new files over your existing ones and then restart the server.

Scheduled Downtime
The Sky Nations web server will be down for roughly 45 minutes while our host performs maintenance. You won't be able to login to the game during this time. However if you're already in a server you will be able to say so until you log out. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. Unfortunately we don't have any control over this matter.

The downtime will be at: Friday, 24th October 2014 at 09:00 UTC+2

Change log
Changes
  • Added a hints system that will popup when you enter the game to help new players learn the game. You can disable these via the options menu.
  • Added more guides to the in-game Knowledge base.
  • Production time for large ships is now much shorter. Time is calculated as: time in minutes = (Ship Value * 3) / 60000. With a minimum of one minute for production time.
  • Demo players can now use spawn points.
  • Demo now shares Steam cloud save so your settings will transfer across from demo to full game.
  • Ships with demo players onboard cannot enter Nation Claims that demo players are not a member of.
  • The server lobby now shows server versions.
  • When you have a lantern selected it will now emit light from the player.
  • Dispersion Generators now start the moment they’re set down rather than waiting for 20 minute tick. This fixes them not turning on instantly when entering a system.
  • Blue Guide Blocks(blue blocks from manufacture) are now removed from a chunk on loading.
  • Nations save after many more actions to make sure they are correctly kept up to date.
  • Added support for a Steam Demo in Steam Build.
  • Changed Ship Manufacture to cancel and remove blue blocks if the production fails due to Energy loss or similar circumstances.
  • Bullets now break glass wedge blocks too.
  • Escape bubbles no longer vaporize players.
  • Atomic Waste now only has 20hp vs previous default 100.
  • Flares now emit a big light using snazzy deferred rendering.
  • Magmasites are now only attracted to ships with 5000 or higher current energy.
  • Nerfed Magmasite splash damage to 60 from 100.
  • Above all else Magmasites now covert flares.
  • You can now whisper players with spaces in their names by replacing the spaces with ‘_’ for example: “/w cool_dude_masterchef_xxx I heard you like cooking”
  • Energy Relays now have a correct price.
  • Community servers now shown in green to make them easier to identify for players.
  • Added join Steam group button.
  • Added purchase button for Steam demo.
  • Added some protection vs malicious clients spamming packet data.
  • Added more verbose logging for errors when receiving packets that may cause a crash.
Fixes
  • Fixed a server crash from plans allowing invalid plan names.
  • Fixed manufacture economy exploit where Unrefined copper was worth 140 but copper was 40. Unrefined copper is now 80(Unrefined Copper = x2 Copper).
  • Fixed another manufacture economy exploit where sand was worth more than glass.
  • Fixed Scan nodes sometimes being duped into wrong positions when scanning.
  • Fixed a server crash from energy relays.
  • Fixed packet errors from Lidgren.Network packet recycling causing network traffic to stop between a single client and server.
  • Fixed a packet sending crash.
  • Fixed Scanning Nodes so they can’t scan Gates, Beacons, Merch Cat or any other special ship.
  • Fixed a server crash caused by Cannon Balls.
  • Fixed Radar blip rendering for new Deferred Renderer.
  • Fixed Mallet not appearing in other players hand correctly.
  • Fixed Demo accounts being able to use Skins so they cannot.
  • Corrected leaving message for clients in server console.
  • Fixed Nations disbanding after server crashes.
  • Fixed flares being seen in all systems and not being correctly depth rendered.
  • Fixed climbing ladders not using key bindings.
  • Fixed an exploit where opening chat would make jetpack thrust infinitely.
  • Fixed last block not dropping an item on a ship/land chunk.
  • Fixed incorrect normal angles for lighting on characters.
  • Fixed time format causing a crash for Greek players on viewing debug info(hopefully!).
  • Fixed a bug where mass generators would show you incorrect status.
  • Fixed a client crash.
  • Fixed Power Display missing description.
  • Hopefully fixed player ghosts.

Update 0.8 - Ship Manufacture and Many Lights!

Update 0.8 is uploaded and available! This update brings 2 main features to Sky Nations. The first is being able to create plans and duplicate your ships and the second is a whole new rendering pipeline as well as the usual fixes and suggestions.

Ship Manufacture
Ship Manufacture in Sky Nations is quite simple. First of all you need a plan of your ship. You can get this by crafting 8 Scan Nodes. Placing these in a large cube shape, with each Scan Node at a corner with a space in the middle big enough to fit your ship in. This will allow you to scan the ship. Scan Nodes do require power, so make sure you have an energy relay hooked up to the particular node you're accessing them from. When you go to scan your ship(by right clicking the Node) you have a choice to save it to your Personal plans. These are only accessible by you or save it to your Nation(if you're in one). Nation Plans are accessible to anyone in the same Nation.

Once you've got a plan of your ship. You'll need a Ship Constructor, this can be crafted with 4 Steel and 1 Burntout Core. Simply place it down and hook it up with an Energy Relay and you're ready to manufacture your ship. One thing to remember is you need enough space above the block for the ship to fit! The cost of producing a ship is based on the sum of the materials it was made of. These are the same prices Merchant cat goes by. You do not need to match the materials that you used to make it. However you need to match the ship's value. To do this you'll need to place a crate or crates adjacent to the Constructor and fill them with materials to make up this value, this should be materials you no longer want as they'll be used(destroyed) during the ship's construction. Depending on the value of the ship it will take varying amount of time to complete. If power runs out it will pause so make sure your constructor is adequately powered. If you leave the System while construction is going on and it becomes unloaded the construction will fail. So bare that in mind. Another important note is that plans do not contain the contents of blocks. For example the contents of your Crates or Mass Generators are not recreated.

Deferred Renderer
On to the second big change. Deferred Rendering! One of problems that's being biting away at me for awhile is that we could only have 16 lights effecting one object at once. This meant the game had to grab the nearest 16 lights to an object and nearest to you then do it's best to prioritise them. Unfortunately a chunk(32x32x32 blocks) whether it be a ship or a piece of land is an object. So you'd find when you had a lot of lights in a small area many would shut on and off depending on how they're prioritised and you'd get sharp edges like this:

This is no good! This is where converting SN to use a Deferred Renderer comes in. Without getting too much into the technical side this basically means we can do lighting as post process and have a whole lot of lights effecting everything in screen space without the limiting factors we had previously. These lights also look much nicer than they ever have before.

This was a bit of monolithic task to change basically how every game object is rendered but I think it was definitely worth it. I also took the time to adjust and upgrade a lot of the existing graphical effects in Sky Nations such as Bloom which now dynamically adjusts to day and night to prevent it whiting out during the day! I've added experimental dynamic shadows and a new sun and moon too!

The server files are already available via the download page. The client will be automatically updated via Steam or the Launcher.

For a full list of changes to SN checkout the the news post. It doesn't quite fit in the Steam Announcements!

Sky Nations Multiplayer Demo

If you'd like to try being a bandit of the Sky before purchasing Sky Nations a demo is now available on Steam. You can even play with your friends in multiplayer! Check it out here.

关于这款游戏

Set in a world where the planets surface is no longer habitable. Sky Nations takes place above the clouds where large airships are the only means of travel. Join up with your friends and build a ship to explore and do battle with players you meet a long the way or the various creatures inhabiting the skies.

Sky Nations is centred around multiplayer cooperative and versus play in a voxel sandbox. Using blocks players can build, destroy and take with harsh but fair mechanics based around freedom for player vs player. There aren't invisible barriers stopping you from destroying blocks or rules against attacking other players. The skies are tough and you need to be tough to survive them!

  • Build ships - As a completely multiplayer orientated experience you are free to roam, interact with and build on the ship as it’s piloted by another player. As well as design custom ships for custom jobs such as mining.
  • Crafting - Create unique items for your ship such as radars, generators and cannons!
  • PVP - Whether it's with your ships using cannons, lasers and more or with shotguns as invade enemy bases and form boarding parties players are free to attack or group up with others they may encounter in their travels.
  • Create Nations - Organize your friends to dominate the map and hold key resource points.
  • Modding Support - Textures can be reskinned and the game server comes with a Mod API allowing you to write custom scripts in C#. Which will be expanded with updates.
  • Buildable Wearable Items - Craft items out of blocks to wear and stand out of from other players and use as bartering items.
  • Persistent Player Servers - Host your own servers or join other players servers with ease. Each a unique world generated the first time it is started.

Please Note: Sky Nations is Early Access and still in development. That means that not all the content is finished and many things are place holders or subject to change. There will be bugs! However through the community of players we can get these bugs found and fixed as well as use your suggestions to help balance and improve the game.

In Sky Nations you are dropped into a world made up of many systems, each system consists of biomes above the ocean below. You must build a ship and set out into the world and...Do whatever you want to do...

Become a trader, mining with sophisticated vessels with lasers and trading your materials to the NPC traders or other players and their nations. Form your own nation, building a home system with missle defences and hangers to keep all your ships safe. Become a pirate and raid and scrap other peoples ship for loot and cash. Lots of possibilities.

Great fun even though its still in Alpha, many of the main features you would look for are present. The open PvP system adds alot of tension, the design for ship components means you will ideally have to cooperate and form a crew to be formidable which is cool. The biomes are unique and huge and the movement for ships is very smooth and clean unlike what I expected.

Considering what the game has goign for it, it's a great start. Airships, bases, housing, etc...

However. the game's community Ruins a lot of that. Initial spawn areas are littered with incomplete ships left by people who don't bother to read the hints/tutorials. If you're good enough to get a ship going though, don't fly too close, 'cause griefers and trolls will literally steal your ship out from under you by breaking the block you're standing on and letting you fall to your doom while they try to make off with your ship. Luckily you don't lose inventory on death, so that's a little bit of frustration mitigation.
Nations (guilds, essentially) eem to be led by folks who are so leery of potential trolls and griefers being brought in, that most team up requests go ignored. I asked the same person 3 times, and got no response, while they explained to another person who'd asked once they they weren't 'allowed' to let just anyone in.

Gameplay is simple enough, being indeed similar to minecraft, despite the "this is not a minecraft clone" arguments. And no, it's not a minecraft clone, but more of an offshoot of minecraft. It's still rough, and has tons of potential. but i'm holding off until the player population matures, or a single player mode is implemented.

the game itself gets an 8/10 from me. but due to the in-game community, i've got to cut that to a 3/10. By all mean, sif you like EVE online, and like minecraft, go ahead and get this. if you want to support the development of a potentially great game, buy this.

ummmmmmmm good game it would be great if the servers with good ping for were filled with people like Atomic gamming but no ones on and the community 2 servers ping is a wopping 490 majority of the time and yes i have great internet its just that the servers for the uk don't work for west coast USA. BUT this game would be fricking amazing if there were more people in my cercome stance playing on a server that i can actually stand playing on so people please please buy the game and play on a server for a while and bring friends cuz the community is on and off constantly for about 30 seconds because theres 1 or none playing on the servers that arent the community servers

Do you like PIRATES?
Do you like SWASHBUCKLING ADVENTURES THROUGH THE SKY?
Do you like MERCHANT CATS?

If you said yes to any of the above, then you may or may not want to get this game. Be warned; it features high levels of scurvy and plenty o' booty for the taking. Just don't try and steal from the Merchant Cat.

10/10, would pirate again.

When I first stumbled upon Sky Nations about 6 months ago I dismissed it as just another Minecraft clone, but it is a lot more than that. The game is still a bit buggy and unpolished, but it is getting better every day. For a single-developer game the progress is impressive.

Anyway, as is probably clear from the images and descriptions, you build airships and fly them around collecting resources to build more things. You start out with a humble twin-engine platform and over time it can be expanded in any way you want. You can add additional engines and install cannons to fight other players, as well as add more floors and stuff like that to the ship. I'm poor at explaining things but that is the gist of it. There is also a hat creator but I haven't delved into that much. It looks interesting.

The community has always been nice and helpful and the dev responds to support requests quickly. Like any game, Sky Nations has its flaws, but I am confident the dev will keep improving it. One such issue is that all the official servers seem to be hosted in the UK. Hard to blame the dev considering that's where he lives, but it would be nice to have a NA server as well. My ping is always 150+ and there isn't anything I can do about it unfortunately. That being said, I highly recommend anyone with an interest in steampunk stuff who enjoys games like Minecraft to try this game out.

Two Words. SKY. PIRATES. Enough has been said my friends.

But on a more serious and in-depth note, I wholeheartedly encourage buying this game, even at this early point in it's development. The first time i started it up, I didn't even notice as I spent the entire night playing, I was so enthralled. The entire idea behind the game is great to start with, and the execution is awesome as well.

At this time I score this game 8/10.

Too Lazy;DR? Jetpacks. Airships. Pirates. Shotguns.

Amazing unique game, great gameplay, a freeform ship building mechanic that brings it all together.

A few bugs, and it is a little hard to play if you're located in the Americas as there are hardly ever any local servers.

Dev consistently comes up with creative and intuitive ways to fix problems such as griefers and other issues.

Only thing this game needs to get better is that more people need to play it.

Don't be dissuaded by the blocky asthetic, by now this should be seen as a genre as it allows for unique gameplay mechanics.
THIS IS NOT A MINECRAFT CLONE and in no way shape or form feels like minecraft while playing. Minecraft wasnt even the first game to utilize square voxels like this. Look it up.

This game has serious serious potential! its way funner and simpler than minecraft, and the battle system requires groups to be run effectively. This is a great game!

The only issue is that not enough people are on the servers. I think their split up by country or something.

UPDATE 8/18/2014

So the current update is a great improvement upon previous gameplay! The only better improvement that they could make would be to again, combine or allow all parts of the world to play off of a centralized servers list.

The gameplay currently has been added to, and I am loving the new aspects and ways to move about! Im waiting for really uber turrets and more fortifications! But for now this is amazing!

If you are planning on buying this game. I would deffinetly say to you, "Only buy it if you are looking for a fun, layed back kinda game." This is only because of the nature of the game. The game costs alot of money but is a heck of fun to play. You create your ship, You battle other players and you upgrade said ship. This can all be done with a matter of machines, Blocks and tools.

The blocks in the game are standard. Things like stone, wood and dirt. But the way you can use these are much bigger than your conventional sandbox game (I'm lookin' at you Minecraft) You can build your base ontop of a giant pill shaped island. You can mine out Molton Rock to power your Mass Generators (More on that in a bit.) You can use copper to create repeaters to gun down other ships. Iron to make cannons to take out larger ships. This list goes on and this is only the start.

When you get into the machinery such as the Mass Generator or the Energy Storage Unit you get into the advanced Burntout Cores. These cores can be gotten either by buying them from the Merchant Cat (More on him later) or taken from the machine planet. The machine planet is a giant planet made of indistructium, an indistrucatble alloy, with different floors and holes in the side for entering. Burntout cores are the basis for all major machinery such as the Mass Generator which makes your ship create more energy per second which can help you with more thrusters and thus more speed.

The tools aren't very unique with a mix of Guns of Icarus and Minecraft. You have a mallet for breaking things. Then you have tools such as a hammer, a wrench and a fire extinguisher for fixing items. Then you have an electric prod as a melee weapon. Then you have to build a shotgun as a major line of defense. I still find these items unique in a way because they bring their own style to the game.

Finally, everything else. The islands are unique having their own ways of showing. Such as a molten rock planet that you can gain your items for your mass generator. A giant pill shaped island that can be used too create a large base. Normal islands that contain trees on the top and sand on the bottom. The list is endless. But there is one thing in the middle of all of this that everyone loves and often dispise. The Merchant Cat. This cat flys around the different sectors of the world selling goods of all kinds. He is the bane of everyones existance because he gives a warning of getting off his ship within on eminute and can take you off with him to the next sector. But everyone loves him because... Ya know... He's a freeking cat. He sells all kinds of goods. You just need to catch him on a good time. He even buys goods for copper coins so you can buy his goods.

Overall this game is brilliant but if you are looking for a serious game and not a fun layed back one stay away from this. I don't want you soiling it... Goodday players and have a good one.

The game has a lot of features you wouldn't find in similar voxel-based games, like an interesting map system, complete freedom in designing a ship or air warfare.

There are some bugs, but they dont impend much on the gameplay and the developper is actively fixing them. The community is also actively spotting bugs for the dev to fix.

The game has a lot of potential and there is already much to play, so i greatly recommend to buy it

Oddly, you don't get a minecraft rip off feel from this game. It has enough going for it that it's a creation of its own. That being said, Having a group of 4 guys fly a ship over to some one, steal their engines and jump back onto your ship is horribly satisfying.

Yes, there are a lot of bugs, anoying sounds and less players, but it is enjoyable and will be big with the help of something powerful - us, the community!

I played this game shortly after it came out. Had a bunch of fun but lost interest eventually when the developer stopped communicating for a long period and official servers were unavailable. Now that it's on Steam I decided to see how it was going. I noticed a lot of changes and have been intrigued and am definitely interested in seeing how it is.

Unfortunately, the game is absolutely unplayable on the servers available. After trying for two hours with a friend of mine to play the game we hit a brick wall where the game was absolutely unplayable. I'd definitely like to be able to change my opinion and see how the game is now. It's definitely a great concept and probably a very fun game. Until the game becomes playable though, I won't be able to recommend it to anyone.

*NOTE: This is an Early Access review meaning it will be a lot shorter than a normal review but will still explain what I thought about it. A full review will be published once Sky Nations has released. Also note that I have over 15 hours on the game and I played it when it wasn't on Steam; when it had its own launcher.

Construct Airships and wage war in a sandbox world populated by floating islands, sprawling skies and adventure. Ride on ships and build them while your motley drive you forward, toward exploration. Persistent player servers and much more await! Sky Nations is available on Steam and is being developed and published by Damaged, which as far as I know, is a one-man developing team.

I am going to start off by talking about the graphics because they are part of the reason why the game works so well. Yes; it's another voxel game. But that doesn't stop it from being creative on what it aims to be. There are new textures and new blocks such as laser blocks, engines, and a lot more. The textures feel fresh and not just thrown in there to be there. This allows players to have a sort of relaxed feeling as they are riding on their self-made space ships, looking at the "scenery".

An awesome part to the game is how easily players can get going on their space ship. It also provides for a fun experience with easily being able to get minerals, add defense to your ship, and join other factions. There are plenty of parts to craft for your ship, allowing for some neat customization options.

I do have a few gripes with the game at its current state. One, I dislike the system of being able to steal from other people's ships. The reason I dislike this is because, as I was a new player once, newbies will play the game for a few hours, get a nice ship, probably not be invited into a nice faction, and then log off. The next day their ship will be looted and then they would have to start from square one; which I have to say is very frustrating. Although it does add a little survival aspect to it, it's definitely disappointing. Another gripe I have is with the server connection. When you want to have ship battles with other people and/or fight them 1v1 the battle will be all over the place because of the connection lag, which drops the intensity of the game to almost laughable. Lastly, this game is not very original. You can easily get some mods for Minecraft that either have the same amount of content or more than, which is disappointing.

Although it is overall a great game, bringing some new textures and a neat voxel space system to the table, it lacks on a few key features.

If you like airship games or voxel building games, you should check this one out. With that being said, I do not think that its all that well coded even for an early access game.

Played this game pre-steam release quite a bit. It was pretty clunky and rough at first, I wont lie, but Ben has added quite a few nice improvements and made the game feel a lot smoother to play. This review covers early alpha stages, up to initial release on Steam.

One of my favourite parts of Sky Nations is that you can craft your own equipment. This is hats, arms, gloves, feet, helm, pants and chest. You can be quite creative with what you create, and it helps add a bit of personality to your character. Unfortunately it's limited to a server basis, so you'd need to create it on each server after gathering the proper materials.

For people saying it should be a Minecraft mod:
Don't base it off of Minecraft. Yes, it has a similar style, but a lot of games do that. This one does it well though, and doesn't attempt a lazy rip-off of a successful game. Ben tried to do something new with the genre, and it's sort of a mix between Guns of Icarus and Minecraft. Everything in Sky Nations would be really, really hard to replicate in Minecraft, and making it it's own game was a much better solution in the long run, as it's way more flexible than it would've been. Sure, Minecraft has it's extensive mods available that do change quite a bit of the base gameplay, but there would always be limitations to what you could achieve through that.

The combat in the game is fun and quite challenging. Are you ready to risk everything you've put into your ship so you can possibly score some loot? Maybe you and a few friends discovered someone's base, and need to try and get through their turrets. Be creative, and work together to become better.

In addition to all of this - the developer actually does participate and communicate quite often with the community. He's done an outstanding job with the game so far, and watching it grow from being v0.145 almost a year ago to what it is now is quite impressive, and he shows how dedicated he is to making the game.

I do hope to see the game continue to grow, and more players picking it up, offering suggestions and feedback and helping the game. Please remember that this game is currently still Early Access, and in Alpha stages still, so there is still a lot of content that needs to be added or improved.
