This game is amazing. There is a really deep (and lenghty) ending if you complete all the achievements in game, which is well worth it.

Well, this was probably the most surprising game I've ever played.
I thought I'd just be sitting down for maybe an hour or two to play a parody of those saccharine Japanese dating sims we all know and love, and get a pretty good laugh out of how I'd actually be dating pigeons *plot twist*.
But man oh man....this game was so much more than that.
Amidst the amazing bird puns and language puns, what I thought would be a cute and slightly disturbing story about falling in love with a bird was actually a much darker, very complex and enigmatic story that just got curioser and curioser upon the playthrough of each route. And the final playthrough, the *complete* route was maybe twice or thrice the length of a normal route? And omg the plot twists. The plot twists.
Basically, this game was the most pleasant and life-scarring surprise I ever received. Totally worth 7 hours of my life. By the end, which pigeon you'll date will be the least of your problems!

Oh dear, where do I start.

Okay. This game was unreal. I thought I'd get a couple hours of goofing off with a bunch of pigeons and that it would be all fun and games and laughs and then I'd leave and play something more serious.

Yeah...this game isn't just for sh**s and giggles. But there are many giggles.

This game is as cute as it gets. You've got all these birds and they're all so different. At first glance you might think they're stereotypes come to life, but as it is with most people, there's more than meets the eye. Everybirdie has something special about them.

I didn't even think I'd want to complete every single path, but sure enough I did. The BBL ending definitely gives you the most intriguing ending with lots of mystery and lots of Sakuya (eeeeee excuse me while I fangirl). I must admit my favourite endings were the more lighthearted ones though, the ones that were sweet and fluffy. And carve it into your soul, kid! There were many great endings. It's hard to pick a favourite.

Also I thought Ryouta's path would be a bit more boring because he's the typical childhood-friend-turned-true-love kind of story everyone seems to love, but I think it was the most rewarding end.

I really appreciate how the writer(s) approached topics like disability, status and even teacher crushes. There was never a point where I thought "Hmm, this seems inappropriate and harmful". Especially in a "dating sim" I even expected problematic moments, but there weren't any. I was overjoyed by that.

WARNING: If you plan to do all the endings, this game does have its share of the violent and the gruesome. While you're not going to see blood and guts, trust me, some of the content in this game is very disturbing. There's murder (which I thought would give me nightmares nearly), suicide (which is dealt with quite respectfully) and probably other stuff I can't think of right now.

For a so-called dating sim, this game isn't overly romantic. It feels more like a friendship sim than dating, to be perfectly honest. I loved that about this game. It surpassed every expectation.

One complaint is the typos, specifically in the BBL ending. Way too many, and it made otherwise hard-hitting lines come off a little...underwhelming. But seriously, don't let that deter you. Just know that it's there, but that's one of my only real complaints.

Lastly, I just want to mention the characters, who are all extremely rich and satisfying to learn about. I had a soft spot for Nageki, Ryouya, Sakuya and Yuuya. But surprisingly, the playable character is also super interesting as well! As you go through the endings, you learn about the bird of the hour but also quite a bit on who you're playing as too.

Get. This. Game. Do yourself a service.

My mom saw me crying at 3am with birds on my screen. My hunter-gatherer instincts did not prepare me for this.

Hatoful Boyfriend. A game that when I murmur its name in the cold wind of a winters morning - I almost hear a reply. When I play it i feel as though I, a small part of society and the world can actually achieve something greater than myself. This is what this game does; it comforts me, protects me, acknowledges me. It's like the older sister i never had.

Inspired by "Pigeon, the untold story" and the fantasy adaption of the manga "Hatsui Fantabolian" this game delves into the struggles of the kawaii female heroin <insert chosen name here>. She's in pursuit of senpai - the buff hot pigeon who's got all the girls interest. But will it be too much for him to bear?

Pros:
+Fantastic graphics
+Engaging subtitles
+A good plot

Cons:
-Senpai is often unattentive
-Pigeons can be overzealous at times
-No DLC

Overall this game is a breath of fresh air in the shoujo and reverse harem genre - giving its fanbase a new perspective on love, life and school in all of its glory.

Don't be fooled: this game is not hilarious. The first two runs are the most funny because of the concept; after that, it's still is a bit funny sometimes, but only because of the writing. You even forget it's a dating-sim, since it's not that focused on flirting.

However, don't let that repeal you! It is an amazing visual novel. If you get to the Bad Bird Love route (an alternative story you unlock by finishing the game with some key characters), you'll be rewarded with an intriguing and surprisingly emotional story. Seriously, the scenario of this route is one of the most memorable I've ever seen in a game. Scratch that: it's one of the most memorable, all art forms taken into account.

Oh, and also: Nageki for husbando.

Rapidly becoming obsessed with this game.

I expected a silly dating sim parody.

I got that, but so much more.

Serial killers. Biker chics. Fallen angels. RPG boss battles.

Oh. My.

Absolutely fantastic. You'll laugh, question your sanity, be delighted, then disturbed, shocked, and devastated. When it's over, you'll be so eager to spend more time with the game's characters you'll likely rush out to buy the "sequel," Holiday Star. And you will have made a good choice.

The game is a deep story that is hidden beneath the daily lifes of a human girl and her bird-classmates. If you're not sure about the game is worth for you, get it on a discount. Personally i think its worth if you need a story that doesnt take itself too seriously.
