What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

Altitude0: Lower & Faster is mostly feature ready. We are a small team of 2 developers, so Early Access will allow us to add more content as the game is being polished to the final version.
When you buy Altitude0: Lower & Faster, you're helping us tune and finalize the game better. We'd like to hear your feedback, suggestions and comments. It will make the game only better and more fun.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“ETA: second half of 2015”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have more content: more tracks, planes and achievements. Different multiplayer modes will be available like team race, championships and user track race. Steam workshop will be implemented so users can create their own tracks, plane skins, stickers and more.
Many of these features are already under testing and the game will be updated during Early Access as each feature is ready.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Altitude0: Lower & Faster already includes all the main game features. Players can enjoy the dynamics of crazy low and risky flying with many tracks and a few planes. More content will be added as the game is finalized.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The final release price will be same.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We are a small indie team of 2 developers (and 1 dev cat). We can literally use any help to make Altitude0 more fun to play. So we are keen on implementing Steam Workshop for tracks, plane skins, stickers, etc. and also supporting different languages.
We'd like to encourage Altitude0 community to create interesting content and share with others. We hope you will enjoy playing and also improving Altitude0 together. Please join us!”

Update: New Multiplayer Is Now Live!

It's finally time to start real racing competitions with a new multiplayer. Multiplayer rounds (MR) are at core of the new game mode and you can join the action after each race.

Multiplayer also brings players into the same world so collisions & crashing matter.
Collect floating items Moccies first or they are gone and avoid hitting others.
Players can vote on the track to be played next. List of tracks includes official license tracks and many user tracks as well.

Some exclusive ingame drops are waiting for players who join the multiplayer.
So join the live competitions!

Other fixes and improvements:

  • ingame position is now updated immediately during the race.
  • ingame icons get bigger as planes get closer.
  • times are displayed with millisecond precision (3 digits), just to be fair.
  • championship points were adjusted to improve racing experience.
  • multiplayer got new chat (default is keyboard button 'T').
  • multiplayer round rankings added.
  • multiplayer watch mode.
  • buttons to see rankings added to track picking and championship page.
  • garage statistics updated.
  • saved replays now also save correct weather conditions.
  • bug fix: user track replay by creator not included in rankings.
  • bug fix: track editor in non-Steam version had starting problems.

Update: New Rankings & Stats Heaven

The main feature coming with this update is new improved rankings system.
You can compare your stats with friends and best A0 pilots: compare racing points, medals, aerobatic pts, close calls, items collected and more.

Championships also got their own rankings and stats. These rankings show players that finished the whole championship in the shortest time possible.
There are some surprising names in the top 10 for each championship, check it out.

And some new drops were added.

Other fixes:

  • after race showcase: plane effects like vapor & boost fixed, plane showcase layout adjusted to prevent planes from overlapping
  • Freeway multiplayer:
    - when realtime human opponents join the race, it shows their correct planes including damage and fire.
    - bots (recorded replays of other pilots) are spawned more competitively when you join Freeway.
    - same weather for all players who join the race.
  • saving replay also saves weather conditions
  • replays of your friends are marked.
  • fixed bug with blue vapor coming constantly from other planes

About This Game

'Got Skills? Rock in the Air or Go Down in Flames!'

What if there were no safety rules in flying, what if every crash - pilots could magically survive and try again?
Altitude0: Lower & Faster is an extreme air racing game where crazy low and risky flying is the number one objective.

Fly lower to be faster and take a chance on flying through moving obstacles to finish the race fastest. Create your own tracks and let your imagination fly.

Key Features

  • Extreme low flying
Fly inches just above ground level for best speed.
  • Various obstacles
Nature objects (rocks, trees, caves) and human made objects (barrels, haystacks, industrial blades and machines) will challenge you extra for thrill of ruthless racing.
  • Plane customizations and damage system
Adjust your plane by adding and removing exhaust pipes, engines, boosts and cosmetics like plane skins & stickers.
Game features silly soft body deformation systems. Wings, elevators, rudder and other body parts will twist, bend and eventually fall off.
  • Altitude0 Track Editor
Create your own tracks. Place gates, rock formations and moving obstacles and let your imagination fly!
  • Solo play license mode, championships & multiplayer competitions
License mode is about progressing through the ranks and upgrading your license. Championship mode will test your endurance.
And finally multiplayer is where you go head to head against others. Flying becomes contact sport and crashing is just part of fun.
  • Huge open world and big vistas
Race in huge scenic environments. Fly over mountain peaks and explore tight spaces like canyon caves and funky rock formations.
  • Match your skills against ghost replays
Each race is recorded and replays of all players are shared online. As you get better, new players and their replays will be picked to match your skills.

Road Ahead

Altitude0: Lower & Faster is mostly feature ready and the main game structure is in. We would like to add more content as the game is being polished to the final version.
More tracks, planes and achievements will be available.
Basic multiplayer mode is already available, but we would still like to improve multiplayer experience further: different online competitions, championships, team play...
Content building (tracks, plane skins, stickers, etc.) is being integrated with Steam Workshop.
As these feature are added, we'll update the game.

*Soundtrack
We're thankful to a great rock-metal band, LDH (LastDayHere) for letting us use their music in Altitude0: Lower & Faster. Edge music fits edgy flying perfectly!

Early Access Review
This is a fun and fast paced flying game with a focus on speed and altitude. It drops items that can be sold on the Steam market.
This game has very nice graphics as well as Devs that are present and allowing the community to help shape the game. Support this game!

If u liked Sonic & all-stars racing or Skydrift ,Altitude0
is a must-have arcade/racing game.No,it doesnt have
guns like the titles above but it doesnt lack in anything.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Traps in the flags and aero tricks give a nice playthrough.
The game modes are: solo license, championship mode
and users tracks.Variety in the difficulty of maps, though
a new content / update is always welcomed.

+ Able to choose control modes (arcade and advanced
mode for more simulated flying)

+ The menu interface seems polished

+ Steam inventory drops, not necessary feature but its still nice to see

+ Superb soundtrack

+ Track editor available,a good way for new content
Hope to see a future update in the objects, traps
u can add.

~ Online features exist but not many players out there yet
(AI exist though, with rankings from ghost players/other users scores)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Overall,i would recommend this game,it gets often
updated so far, hope to see new content/updates in future
(for planes,enviroment-maps,plane parts etc)

Trackmania with planes!

In Altitude0 you race against the ghosts of other players on many different, and some whacky, tracks. At the current version there are three planes to choose from, all with slightly variying characteristics.

Having spent more time with the game now, seeing the development pace, a small review correction was in line - the pilot wings experience i was talking about could still be achieved, but i don´t think it is going to happen soon´ish =)

[old review]
My short "early access" summary so far, even with some vital features still missing:

If you always wanted "Pilot Wings" on PC (for the last 20 fricking years), this finally could be it - if (!) some vital features like steam workshop support, an in-depth license system, stronger single player, and live multiplayer against friends made it into the game quickly.

Altitude0 is one of those games that you just keep on coming back to over and over again. Thing is, everytime I do strap back in - the game's developers keep packing on the content and refinements to an already great game.

Jump in Early Access - you'll be glad that you did!
