Stick RPG 2 has two different sides to the game. One side is a time management sim featuring wild goose chase quests, and the other side is a top down arcade brawler. Both sides completely different from each other, and both are necessary to master to complete the game.

As a sim, your character has to make money through working jobs, gambling, and performing various tasks. Doing favors (quests) for individuals will help you aquire different tools, which will ultimately lead you to the game goal items. As for time management, you have to decide what jobs and tasks are worth your time to work to build up your bank and character stats. You can also develop a love life interacting with potential mates. You also sometimes have a choice on how to accomplish certian tasks, but there are very few choices offered throughout the entire game.

As a top down arcade brawler, it feels very similar to Hotline Miami, but everyone has a life bar, and you can't pick up weapons off the ground. You can build weapons through quests, shop at the weapons store, or sometimes even win them as fight rewards. Some battles will only allow you to fight with your fists, but there are also battle grounds where you can exploit all your weapons.

As far as the overall experience goes, it feels really unpolished and unfinished. Prices of various items and services are very inflated, forcing you to spend a lot of time working jobs to develop a solid bank account. It is also frusturating working a job and losing stats on a bad shift (on the job accidents, with no insurance options). You also can have lucky days where you get a substantial bonus on your shift, but you can't adjust the odds in your favor for these events. On a funny note, your strength stat will make your firearms stronger for some reason, and you have unlimited ammo, so running blindly with a machine gun or flame thrower on full auto is an acceptable tactic. As fun as it is the first two or three times, it gets old really fast.

The game feels more like a prototype for something really awesome, but definitely lacks a lot of ambition, and needs to be tweaked. I do recommend it to hobbyist level game designers who want ideas for implementation, but need some direction. For everyone else, pick it up as cheap as you can (I got it for $1), and waste a good 4 to 6 hours before you give up on it. It isn't so bad, it just isn't all that great either.

$19.99 for essentially a flash game. Is it worth it? No, even on sale it is way overpriced for what it is. Spent about 30 minutes and saw nothing worth paying for. 30 minutes was about as much as I could handle. There are free flash games which are better. Your money is better spent elsewhere, especially for what they are asking.

I got the game because I wanted to support the devs, you might as well play from the browser if you want it.

It's kind of better than number 1 (which you can play on an online site.) but I wasn't attracted to it.

It`s a very pleasant game, especially for SRPG 1 veterans. A bit widened, a bit polished really makes for sequel. Unfortunately it`s not worth it`s steam shop price. Look for Bundles and special offers (at least -50%) - then it will a good choice.

What a chore to play through this RPG of sorts. I suggest you don't even try. Too many good games that are better and cheaper than this failed thing.

Stick RPG 2: Director's Cut, what a great game. If you ever played the original Stick RPG, this is probably the best game for you.

The Pros:
  • An excellent gameplay, full of fun, fights, cash, jobs, mobs, fights and, of course, love
  • Up to 4 save files allowed (with a little bad thing, see cons)
  • Cheats, including in-game shop prices, faster running, skipping time ...
  • Unicorn races
  • A storyline (but you do not need to follow it)
  • In-game minigames
  • Secrets and parodies
  • LOADS of cool weapons, available in fights
  • Many many other things

The Cons (none of these actually hurt the gameplay, but could be improved):
  • Saving and cheating require a Xgen account
  • Achievements are only in-game, not on Steam
  • No trading cards :(
  • "Ultra" graphics quality is more like medium
  • No Linux support

So, do yourself a favour and buy this game. If 20$ is too much for you, don't worry, I'm sure there will be sales & bundles.

Way overpriced... For a far too underrated game.

Now introducing my get rich quick scheme
  1. Start new game
  2. Go to bank
  3. Deposit all money
  4. Turn on TimeTravel cheat
  5. Press and hold 'T'
  6. ????
  7. PROFIT!!!

My Review of Stick RPG 2: Director's Cut

I only played it for about a half-hour but I played so much on the online free game and I "bought" -wink wink- the Director's Cut and it's even better! It's awesome! I never get bored and it's a very good game! You could do boxing/wrestling, dating, walk, run, skateboard, study, work-out, own everything, exploit, cheat, gamble, .etc

It's so fun! I love it! The prequel is very much like it but this one is just better in every way! It is also funny at times and there's challenges such as the Chainsaw Club Mystery!

    Pros -
    • Many things to do
    • Great RPG
    • Nostalgia of the first Stick RPG
    • 2.5D!
    • Great quests
    • Much more extra content from the online free game [Recommend playing that one first and then thinking of buying]

    Cons -
    • Pretty expensive for some people on a budget, but for me I don't care about the price, if you do, wait for a sale
    • Repitive

      So, yes, I recommend!

While this game is relatively short, there appears to have been a lot of work put into it. Some of the more advanced weapons are overpowered and make the battles too easy near the end of the game.

If you are a fan of grinding and leveling up, you will enjoy this game. Most quests are unlocked based on your level, so you're going to need to get yourself a job and improve your skills in order to make money to pay for your upgrades.

I was a bit disappointed with the ending, but others might find it appropriate. Personally, I was looking for something more.

There is replayability to this game, and you choose the way you complete the game. If you want to be an honest, friendly visitor who helps the law, or a rebel who gets a job as a pimp or hacker and works for the underworld, it's up to you.

I might start this game up again and give it another go, and see if there is anything differen that I might have missed.

Also, there are trophies to win based on acheivements, which add some more challenge to the game. Such as completing side quests, or earning a certain amount of money gambling.

All in all it's a decent game, and I recommend it.

    Enjoy!

I used to play the first Stick RPG when i was a kid and i was really excited to play this. The first one was really fun and the second had more content which made it better, although it wasnt enough. I bought it and within 3-4 hours playing it i was making 14k a day in the game. Once you manage to buy all the homes and stores there isnt really much to do. There are some deeds you do for other people but thats generally boring and unrewarding. It's a game where you go from 'A to B and then back to A' and trust me its really repetitive. Unless you like playing life simulators like 'sims', you won't be satisfied with your purchase. Though an improvement from the first, its not worth $20 of your cash.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this game! This game has no right to call its self an RPG, that is about the same as Tractor Farmer being an RPG. This is a simulation, and of what...... of working. That is right, you go to a job of your choice and you work to gain money. Have you ever wanted to go to work at a fast food "restaurant" with out having to deal with the greasy after smell being burned into your very scent, well if so then here's your chance. So your asking, so do you do odd jobs while working like make burgers or pour coffee, maybe a bunch of mini games? Loath the day the developers acutely have that much creative genius to put something that good of an idea into their game. No you go into work and a screen pops up, you get paid, time moves forward you go home, the end. Combat is clunky and very easy to get stuck on objects, no story or ability to have conversations with people, simply hi, random line of writing thee end.

It is a waste of your time and money even if the game was $5 dollars I wouldn't recommend it. It has no depth no story no point, you never feel as if you progress or gain any thing of worth. Its a shell of a game and one you will not lose anything by over looking. Or at least that's my opinion, do as you wish, such as checking out my channel for more reviews http://www.youtube.com/user/SocioPyscho

The fact that they're charging $20 for this when you can play 90% of this game on any flash game website is terrible. I honestly would've somewhat liked it if It didn't crash and lose ALL my progress because it doesn't have an autosave feature, I may try again but losing all that progress is a huge turn off.

Also, you can't control the volume of the music nor sound, can't adjust the resolution, and like I said previously the game doesn't have a simple autosave feature which was my downfall.

If this is 90% off and very cheap maybe get it if you've never played the flash game, I would rate this 6/10.

You'll get different amounts of replayability depending on how you want to play this game. If you just want to reach the end, you can do it in under 30 minutes. However, if you want to collect every item, max out every job, buy every business and housing, achieve all the achievements...well, that could take you some time.

If you're unsure about buying this game, you can play it on XGenStudios' website for free. I would also recommend waiting for a sale, as $20 for this game is a little steep. If you do decide to buy it later, you can login to your XGen account and your progress will remain intact.

Not recommended because there are so many better ways to spend your time.

    - World is massive, speed is slow, finding things you can actually do takes ages
    - When you find things you can do, they're boring
    - Dialog is dull (and it's 90% of the game)

Interesting concept of RPG, closer to a "life simulator". Bad combat system and I have doubts about its longevity. Wouldn't bother unless it sells on a really cheap bundle.
