Update Released - Go Faster Stripes

July 13th, 2014

Hi everybody!

Thanks to everyone that's bought FIST OF AWESOME so far! You're all wonderful, lovely people.

I've pushed a new update which increases the minimum speed of Tim by 12(ish)%. This is in response to feedback that he feels a bit slow when starting out so you can get into the action all the faster! It also fixes a small text bug in one of the later levels.

In the next fortnight or so, thanks to some lovely community members, I'll be pushing out a version with full Russian translation. If it gets received well I'll release more language updates over the following weeks and months.

Lots of love,

Nicoll x

Bare Bears, man. Those tassels. 10/10

Fist of Awesome is a fun game but got kinda boring fast for me. It just didn't have much going for it besides the punching bears bit. The game isn't that long, a single playthrough can be done in one sitting. This isn't surprising as the game was originally a mobile (and Ouya) game. It's a very simplified version of a game like Streets of Rage with regenerating health and no pick-up items. You level up as you play and unlock stat points to powerup your Health, Power, Speed and Special. The Arena mode looks to be a survival mode where you get to play as any character in the game that you've faced off against and other special characters. It doesn't add much enjoyment to the game sadly. Overall the game is horribly repetitive and offers little to no "replayability."

You also fight velociraptors and deer alongside bears. I like the final choice, didn't see it coming.

I'd recommend this game as a casual beat-em-up to play when you want a quick game. Although at full price it's not worth it really, but if you can get it at a discount it's a decent buy.

For the regular price of $7.99 or even the current sale price of $6.79 it isn't that good of a deal.
You can find the game cheaper on mobile platforms: $3.99 on iTunes and the Play Store and $1.99 on the android Amazon Store

I played this game for half an hour or so. I got it because I thought it looked hilarious from the moment I watched the trailer.

http://youtu.be/qUsjVixNq6I

The visual are funny. The protagonist has a kick animation reminiscent of Beavis and Butthead. I loved how the flying kick looked. The impact sounds heard during combat all just seem to be made by someone using their mouth and are pretty funny.

You brawl against groups of bears. You need to defeat all foes in each area to progress and occasionally there is a boss fight against a big bear. You dude even levels up and you can upgrade your stats to make you stronger or faster and so on.

I found it really entertaining to play. It's simple, easy to get the hang of and funny. The game doesn't take itself one bit seriously.

Update: I tryed to boot up the game again (I wanted to increase my time played to make my review more credible lol). After 4-5 attempts it crashed everytime it got the menu. Will try to reinstall game for next time but it might be an issue which could affect other people. Something to consider before buying the game I guess.

If you like humerous one-liners and zingers, this game is for you. Otherwise, it's mostly just punching an onslaught of bears. You must defeat all the bears to free humanity from an alternate timeline where the wrold has been taken over...by bears. Give it a try; you may find it addictive...I found it a tad repetitive.
