9 de outubro Patch Information

This week I worked on separating out various Steamworks related features from one another (which should have been done from the start of development, if you have a time machine go tell Nelson to fix that). This will make working on the networking easier because it uses Steam's multiplayer API, and previously I had it entangled with other Steam features like workshop and achievements. Hopefully this cleanup will be finished with each service abstracted nicely for next week's patch. Rocket mods should be functional with these changes, as Sven [developer of Rocket] was kind enough to patch it with an early version of the update.

There were also some minor fixes alongside improvements such as:

  • Improved skills menu. [In the future will also show current/next +stat% info]
  • Improved crafting menu readability.
  • Improved escape menu to pause game.
  • Improved settings to save after changes rather than when closing application.
  • Improved speciality to impact which skills are lost on death, no longer abusable.

Sorry about the super early update! Something got mixed up and some parts of the update were distributed incorrectly, so may as well release everything else as well. :)

One of the time consuming parts of this update is the tools upgrade for the economy. This is not really visible, but will make it a lot easier to quickly fix bugs or adapt to updates to the inventory service like tags.

Today I got a new AppID on Steam named "Unturned Experimental" which is very useful to test upcoming Steamworks-related updates without messing with the release version, for example adding the new Workshop tags! In the future it may be used for closed testing of networking improvements (it has its own listing on the server browser) which leads into the next topic:

Which of these would you like me to work on in October? Originally my intent was to create a huge Halloween event with Horde mode, but I think it may be more important and better for the future to really focus hard on optimizing the networking. I've been reading up on as many networking articles as I can find, and while 3.0's networking is better than 2.0's there's still plenty of room for improvement. Either way at the very least I will add some cool Halloween easter eggs/items!

Unturned is a sandbox game in the emerging multiplayer apocalypse survival genre. Rather than focusing on being an MMO it provides players with easy systems to sit down and survive the zombie infestation with their friends. Over the course of a typical adventure, groups will have a blast fortifying locations, scavenging for supplies, trying to live off the land and negotiating with other people. The game is being developed entirely with the community in focus, and tons of features are based entirely on feedback:

Players can build massive forts out of structural building blocks, or build onto smaller buildings in the world with barricades. It is also possible to create traps and intricate electronic systems. More options for building are constantly being added based on what the community requests.

It is entirely possible to live off the wilderness by harvesting resources, fishing, growing crops and hunting animals down. What sort of survival stuff is added is entirely decided by the community.

The game goes where the community wants it to. The initial release map is set on the lovely Prince Edward Island, but over the next few months many more locations will arrive for players to explore depending on what the community wants to see. Currently the island has plenty of interesting locations to discover and loot.

Players can choose to enter player versus player servers and battle other players to steal their gear. Banditry is highly supported with plenty of weapons and sneaky devices.

Players can join player versus environment servers to team up with other people, and easily create clans to play with their pals.

O jogo consiste em você sobreviver dos zumbis e lutar contra os outros players, sua jogabilidade é bem simples e fácil de se jogar. É ideal jogar entre mais pessoas para se ter mais chances de sobreviver em grupo e também de estar em maior número caso lute contra alguém.
No jogo existem algumas barras, como de vida, fome, sede e stamina. Um grande cuidado que precisa se tomar é na barra de stamina, pois tanto para correr, pular gasta bastante rápido e demora para recuperar, lembra-se disso, é um fator muito importante no jogo.
Vasculhando as cidades você encontrará itens para ajudar na sua sobrevivencia, como comidas, armas brancas ou de fogo, mochilas, roupas e uma outra variedade de itens. Também existem veículos no jogo que facilitam a sua locomoção entre os locais.
Também existem vários mapas para se jogar e isso é um grande atrativo pois não fica sempre no mesmo mapa e possibilita descobrir novos lugares, armas estratégias diferentes, tudo para no final sobreviver...
O jogo é free então vale muito a pena dar uma olhada, é bem legal de se jogar por ser simples mas ao mesmo tempo bem desafiador.
