Reviews

“Though it’s not ambitious enough for die-hard flight sim fans, the Arma 3 Helicopters DLC adds flight sim-style depth to gaming’s greatest military sandbox.”
84/100 – PC Gamer

About This Content

Fly the brand-new CH-67 Huron and Mi-290 Taru heavy-lift helicopters, and master Sling Loading to provide ground support in the Arma 3 Helicopters DLC.

Key Features

  • CH-67 Huron - The CH-67 Huron is a twin-engine, tandem rotor heavy-lift helicopter. Its primary role is the transportation of troops, vehicles and cargo. The Huron exists in two variants. The armed variant includes two side gunners manning 6.5 mm gatling guns, while the transport version exchanges gunners for two additional passenger positions.
  • Mi-290 Taru - The Mi-290 Taru is a heavy utility helicopter with coaxial rotors and a unique modular construction. Mission pods enable the Taru to serve a variety of different roles. It can transport cargo, troops, and provide battlefield supplies (ammunition, fuel, repair facilities, and medical equipment). The helicopter can also lift light vehicles thanks to its sling loading capabilities.
  • Showcase Sling Loading - Explore the new Sling Loading feature and use your heavy transport helicopter to support NATO forces on Altis.
  • Time Trials - Win the gold medal and set the record time in four exclusive helicopter Time Trials.

Platform Update

The Arma 3 Helicopters DLC is supported by a major Arma 3 platform update, featuring a wide variety of new content and features. The platform update is free for all owners of Arma 3.

Supporting Content

  • Support MP Mode - A new, sector control-inspired mode challenges players to transport units in and around the battlefield and provide logistical support by delivering supplies and executing medevac operations.
  • VR Training - Four new courses that help you master the art of helicopter flight.
  • Objects - A variety of new objects, ranging from landing platforms, to ropes and engine cranes, for Arma 3 content creators.

Supporting Features

  • Advanced Flight Model - Opt into the alternative flight dynamics powered by RotorLib for all official Arma 3 helicopters.
  • Sling Loading - Carry externally slung cargo under helicopters, and use the rope technology for other cool purposes.
  • Firing from Vehicles - Use your personal weapons from specific passenger positions in a wide range of vehicles.

Me and Alistair were very disapointed to find out this DLC didn't include the Boeing AH-64 Apache attack helicopter manufactured by Hughes Aircraft Company and introduced in April 1986!

Two new helicopters + few variatons of them. That's it. They look good and aren't bad, but why this wasn't in the base game, is beyond me. And it's absolutely impertinent that they demand 10€ for this. There are free mods out there that offer more and are done by poor ba$tard$ in their freetime. And the guys from Bohemia are already making $hitloads of money with the game itself and still try to squeeze more out of their customers with these DLCs. EA & Ubi would be proud.

Your kidding right? $15 for two helicopters? Anyone reading this your better off not buying this obvious excuse of Money farming, and just wait till a community creates a mod that does the exact same thing for free.....

This DLC should have been a free update considering that they released the game in a condition that actually requires DLC's or mods to improve the quality of the game. AND the fact that such little is added to the game in this DLC alone. (refering to the two helicopters you have access to buying on purchasing the DLC)

I SAY AGAIN DO NOT BUY
its a waste of money. wait till a sale or something and even then only contemplate buying this until its within the 2.99 mark (unless of course you purchase this with the intent of supporting bohemia)

This is sad that Bohemia has to farm money for a DLC that should've just been a free update. Sure, there are some great things being added, but if I wanted to lift vehicles or get "cool" looking helicopters I could have downloaded those for free as a mod.

90% of the DLC is already free with the recent update. Buying this just allows you to pilot the (only) 3 helicopters that already come with the DLC without annoying pop-ups telling you you haven't bought the DLC yet. And some dumb challanges and misc SP missions most people forget about in a week and a bunch of misc items that have zero function and you probably will never notice or use while playing the game.

Essentially you're paying this much to cover the cost for the rest of the (majority) players that won't get this because they want to do the whole "free features" thing.

To all looking to buy this, go buy the DLC bundle upgrade instead and save yourself a lot of money. The only thing you're paying for is a flight model Arma players have been waiting 3 years for and remakes of some old choppers from Arma 2.

I hate BIS. I hate their decision to release DLCs instead of a finished game with vehicles for all factions. Next DLC will be Sniper DLC with Call of Duty items for all the kids. I call it now and say it will be at least 7 EUR for the Sniper DLC and it will add two rifles and a pistol.

Hire me BIS. I can script, make .paa texture files and fix all your BIS_fnc_function errors that you don't even see.

i play arma3 quite a bit so i got it but some of these features should have been vanilla. I'm allowing myself this one purchase against my better judgement, but next paid for DLC better actually be worth it.

Cons

Cheater hud doesnt have RPM.

Auto rotations very easy very forgiving very unrealistic. you could almost fly level across a runway with no power.

ground effects barely noticeable cannot feel it.

cannot feel the tranistional states of flight if they exist in this sim.

just pitching foward can set off rpm warning, on the taxiway....

nothing worth busting out my HOTAS.

$15 for 2 damn helis and shooting out of vics? Don't buy this, wait for a sale if keen on getting it because this is a rip off in the most clear form. Again, don't recommend it.

NOT WORTH THE PRICE AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Theres nothing more to say.
5$ is more realistic, 10 would be A little over priced. 16$ is just WAY TO MUCH.
