Got this game free
Still couldn't imagine paying actual money for it

The good
  • The music! As simple as it is, I actually really like it!
  • The enemy a.i. actually strafes, rather than walking straight towards you.
  • As basic as the art style is, I think it's actually really visually appealing!
  • Nice ambiant sound, like the waterfalls, and traipsing through water!
  • The crosshair effect when mousing over an enemy is nice!
  • Slow motion on levelling up is cool! Although, maybe a little unecessary.

And then, the bad
  • Jumping. Um, what? When you jump down to another platform, who knows what will happen. Sometimes a gust of wind will come from nowhere and blow you at 100mph across to the other side of the map (and make you fall off), sometimes you can double jump, sometimes you are hurled back. Really quite frustrating.
  • Holes in the floor. Yes, they make the game that little bit harder. But sometimes it's overkill, given that every few steps you have to jump over one. And given there are always at least 2-3 enemies agro'd on you at once, it's kind of hard to shoot, and focus on jumping.
  • Lack of detail - Every level really feels like it took 10 seconds to design. A patch of ground here, a tree here, some enemies here... And done.
  • The music randomly stops? Really annoying, because I actually like the music.
  • Wait 5 seconds for spawn? Why does the game insist you float in the air for a good 5 seconds for no apparent reason, before you're allowed to start the level? (side note, if you press pause, you still fall down).
  • Blocks get in the way. When you shoot a monster (or some trees), they explode with blocks. Usually I have to wait for them to despawn, because instead of being able to kick them out the way, they act as impassable walls that have a mind of their own.
  • Lack of level structure. First level, I was able to complete on the first try. Second level took 20 minutes. Trial and error, random deaths, unfair and yet unexpected wind mechanics. Spam of enemies. Oh yeah, and that's another thing.
  • Spam of enemies. If you have more than 3 enemies chasing you, it's basically game over. Given that the maps are tiny and covered in holes, it's virtually impossible to fend off more than three monsters at once. Especially when your only weapon is a baseball bat. This also hammers in the thought that maybe each level had barely any thought put into it, given that the levels consist of a tunnel with literally a line of enemies. My only solution appears to be to edge closer until I agro the nearest one, and spam the swing button until it's dead. Then repeat.
  • Cannot respawn. This just annoys me slightly. Instead of respawning you in the level, it takes you all the way back to the menu. I also have to watch a 10 second death animation, which isn't particularly interesting or relevant to how I died. And it's even more annoying given how easy it is to die!
  • Lens flare? If you look near the sun, there's a really fancy lens flare. However if you look directly at the sun, it disappears.
  • Not satisfying to kill enemies. Like at all. You just get lost in a barrage of square particles, and apparently shock waves. No +XP particles or cool death animation, just a spam of invisible wall blocks, and squares.
  • Finally, unlimited ammo. Like literally, there is no penalty for spraying bullets everywhere. Surely a cooldown for heat, or maybe enemies dropping ammo would be nicer!?

Summary
In my opinion, this game really feels like it took less than a week to create. The level design is sloppily barren, whilst the overall detail is severely lacking. Gameplay is simply not rewarding enough to want to continue playing, so I'll put this on the pile of games I'll never touch again!

Recommended value: Cereal box coupon.

As amusing as this game could have been I am afraid it just did not manage to do more than irritate me. No options to change key bindings or even reverse mouse made it a little awkard for me, but the game itself did nothing to win me over. You just wander through fairly linear yet pointless maps killing humanoids I assume are zombies with items I assume are weapons until you get fed up and try to figure out how to quit the game.

Oddly enough quitting was the most challenging part of the game as just as I decided I had enough the game stopped responding and I had to ctrl-alt-del to the task manager.

The only thing I liked about the game was the sound track .... and for the life of me I still don't know why.

Interesting concept but not a game I would play.

All these people grumbling! How wrong can you go spending 18 cents (Canadian)?

It hurts to think that I could have bought half inch of cold coffee in the bottom of a used styrofoam cup, but spent that 18 cents here instead.

Btw, I haven't played this game for 11 hours. I fell asleep with the game running.

This game seems like it was made by a 12 year old, in the ROBLOX game engine. Litterally block zombies run at you, you kill zombies "Yes" also lets talk about the unessasary dubstep moments of slow motion, dont buy it unless it was on for 12 cents like when I bought it. also I finished it in one playtrough at night.

Game plays like a project from a video game developer camp with dubstep blasting and a minecraft-inspired art style. Seriously, I think this game was made by a 10 year old.

My name is Quilly. Zombie aliens have abducted me and will probe me in my nether regions if I do not pass their tests. Each test involves being dropped into a map with a random weapon and killing zombie aliens while trying to avoid falling off the map into oblivion. No matter how you die, the cutscene that follows involves zombie aliens powerbanging you in a death orgy. I pass 3 tests and am feeling pretty good about myself. The fourth test is harder. The zombie aliens have dogs and giant friends and they put holes all over the floor to make it easier for me to die. I give up. Zombie alien probes are likely more pleasureable than laboring through this game.

Zombie Alien Anoos Probe: 10/10

While I did buy it for cheap, I am not gonna cut it some slack, despite winning my money back from the trading cards.

So, lemme get this out of the way - Yes, I think this game is fun.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely not.

This is a First-Person Shooter game, a relatively short one at that.
The entire game is 9 levels long, which sums up to around...30 minutes?
Longer if you suck at this game.

The game is fun, because it does not stop you from what you are supposed to do - shoot enemies.

However, the fun is killed because of these things:
-Very restricted and slippery mouse movement
-Cheap enemy and platform placement
-Awkward jumping
-No map to indicate where you are in the level
-No checkpoints

That's right - if you die, you go back to the beginning of the level, no questions asked.

I do like that there is literally infinite ammo in the 2/3 weapons that you get (this game only has 3 weapons - an assault rifle, a shotgun and an...icicle?) and that makes the game fun, because you can go crazy while shooting. But what hinders everything is the really awkward and restricted mouse movement.
Player movement isn't that bad, it's the jumping that can really put you off.

You will be falling off the world a lot in this game, especially on levels 5 and 6.

The music is just...horrible. It really has horrible music.
I am the kind of guy who really hates these...wub-wub songs. And this game's full of them.

I also found an odd glitch - if you go to the Steam Overlay (Shift+Tab) - your mouse will bug out and you are forced to restart the game.

And apparently - my game hours are not registering, despite spending around an hour on it.

It is a nice distraction, and a fun one at times, but this game honestly is bad and I do not recommend you play it.
This game feels like an alpha version at this point, and I really hope the developer will fix the issues with the game.
And for the love of god - change the music...

Dead Bits
"Fun distraction, but horrible nonetheless."
4/10
