What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Robocraft has been built with a dedicated community of Robocrafters from the very beginning. It's first release was in April 2013 and had no multiplayer and no combat. From that point and to now the game has grown to it's full MMO state and whilst we still call it a 'Live Alpha' you will find it a very polished and fully featured experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect the game to remain in Early Access for at least the next 6 months after it's initial release on Steam. This way the Steam community can help to shape the game as the rest of the Robocraft community has so far.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“When Clan Battles, Tournaments, Megabots (players as bosses in Boss Battles vs. other users), plus integration of Steam Leaderboards and Steam Achievements.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We call it 'Early Alpha' but we expect you to find it as polished and fully featured as most 'Beta' releases.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, Robocraft will always be Free-to-play and our prices won't change as a result of shifting from Early Access to a full release in future.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Freejam (the developer of Robocraft) has community in it's blood. The work Freejam is a combination of 'Free' and 'Jam' where 'Free' shows our dedication to keeping Robocraft always Free and 'Jam' stands for 'Jamming'. We like to think of Robocraft as a game that has been built from the ground up with the community and 'Jamming' with the community is ingrained in everything we do.”

Protoniom (noun, Chemistry, Physics)

[pro-toh-nee-uh m]
A rare transuranic element with a fissile isotope of mass number 511 (protonium 511). When rendered into a truncated octahedron Protonium is capable of sustaining stable nuclear fusion and is the most common source of energy used to power the Supercomputers (SCU’s) of the warring factions of the Milky Way. Symbol: Pn; atomic number: 107.

Protonium Reactor

Each team base in the new main game mode will have a Protonium Reactor. The Reactor is a cluster of Protonium Crystals surrounding a central reactor conduit called ‘the core’. You must destroy the enemy’s Protonium Reactor to win the battle.

Protonium Crystals are rendered in a shape called a ‘truncated octahedron’ (a sort of 3D octagon). The Crystals fit together and connect on all sides (much like the cubes in your Robot, but they also connect on the diagonal faces). Each Crystal can be connected on 14 sides (6 square, 8 diagonals).

The core has 32 connection points and the Crystals are clustered around it joining with all connection points.

To destroy the Reactor you must sever all 632 Crystals from the Core (much like you sever functional cubes from the Pilot seat of a Robot to destroy it). As with a Robot, if you break the Crystals that connect to the core can severe multiple Crystals at once.

Protonium Crystal Health

Protonium Crystals have a dynamic health that is set depending on which Tier you are fighting in as follows:

T1: 544
T2: 1,129
T3: 2,108
T4: 3,623
T5: 5,797
T6: 8,686
T7: 12,223
T8: 16,170
T9: 20,107
T10: 23,479

NB: These values, as with all values in the new metagame can be changed from Robocloud by Freejam. So we can make a change to the balance of the game within minutes without forcing a new client update.

Respawning in 10 days time!

ROBOCRAFT WILL BE RESPAWNED IN 10 DAYS TIME
SCHEDULED RELEASE DATE 29th APRIL 2015

Today, it begins! We are now just 10 days from our first launch of a major upgrade to the main competitive game mode in Robocraft. This is easily the biggest change we have ever made to Robocraft and follows months of development work to implement it.

RESPAWNED AND OVERCLOCKED

The new game mode is Epic! It includes many new features:

Protonium Crystals, destroy them to gain Victory in battle
Overclocking your Robot during the course of a battle
Fusion Towers, capture them to turn the tide of a battle
Fusion Shields, protecting your base
Respawning, yes respawning
Combat mechanic changes
Big balance changes

NB: If you didn’t get the early announcements about the development of this new ‘meta game’ you can recap on it here – http://robocraftgame.com/the-future-of-robocraft/

CLASSIC MODE

Don’t worry. Old Robocraft is staying. The old mode is being renamed ‘Classic Mode’ with ‘Challenge Mode’ and ‘Megaboss Mode’ also remaining.

PRE-LAUNCH and FULL-LAUNCH

There are so many changes in this major update. We’ve been developing and testing, balancing and testing, balancing some more and testing some more. We will be testing right up to the launch to try to make this new meta-game awesome first time. There are bound to be a few balance issues and a few things you’d like changed after it’s first launch so we’re going to launch it in two steps.

PRE-LAUNCH 29th APRIL

This first launch will contain all the features and initial balance, but it will only be announced via our own channels (Website, Facebook, Twitter, etc). This allows all the closest fans of Robocraft, those that stay in touch with the progress etc. to get first look at the launch and get their feedback heard first.

FULL-LAUNCH 6th MAY

One week later we will start to promote this new meta game to a wider audience with a small amount of advertising and with some support from Valve and some other great partners we’ve been working with to help promote the game so we hope to see an influx of new users at this point.

STAY TUNED

Each day between now and the launch we will reveal more detailed information about all elements of the launch. Want to know exactly how fast Aerofoil Fliers will travel when fully Overclocked? Want to know how much health Protonium has? or about the ‘heal-rates’ of cubes?

STAY TUNED HERE EACH DAY AND WE WILL REVEAL IT ALL

Release your inner 6 year old as you build freaking robots that SHOOT LASERS pew pew pew pew!

The destruction of the robots are fantastic. You can legit shoot off the guns of enemy robots to leave them defenseless, or shoot out the flying bits to ground the plane. It is freaking rad.

The robot building mechanics make it truly memorable. It's like the custimization of weapons like Loadout, except much more in depth. It's basically building with LEGOs. It is amazing.

This game also apparently likes handing out premium codes and crud. Also, if you get a premium thingy, you get 100% extra crud. The best bit, though, is that for every premium player, everyone gets 5% extra. When you get premium, you help out yourself, and everyone else!

THIS GAME IS FREAKING RAD!

If your looking for a review on this game you've come to the wrong place, but if your looking for an outstanding pie recipe you've come to the right place.

Ingredients:
1. 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
2. 1/2 cup white sugar
3. 1/2 cup brown sugar
4. 1/4 cup water
5. 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
6. 1 pinch salt
7. 5 apples - peeled, cored and sliced
8. 1 pastry for double-crust pie

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
2. Combine butter, white sugar, brown sugar, water, cinnamon, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and set aside.
3. Roll out half the pastry to fit a 9-inch pie plate. Place bottom crust in pie plate; pour in apple slices.
4. Roll out top crust into a 10-inch circle. Cut into 8 (1-inch) wide strips with a sharp paring knife or pastry wheel. Weave the pastry strips, one at a time, into a lattice pattern. Fold the ends of the lattice strips under the edge of the bottom crust and crimp to seal.
5. Pour butter-sugar mixture over top of pie, coating the lattice, and allowing any remaining sauce to drizzle through the crust.
6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), and bake until the crust is golden brown, the caramel on the top crust is set, and the apple filling is bubbling, 35 to 40 more minutes. Allow to cool completely before slicing

But seriously, I love this game! :D

Really great game, build your own robots and fight with them. The 11 different teirs offer both upgrades to your current weapons, armor, sheilds, and mode of transportation as well as introducing new ones as you advance through each teir. The game has really good balance and you'll be hooked from the get-go. I'd also like to add that while there are micro-transactions, they are entirely unnececary as all they have for offer is either cosmetic items or a "Premium" membership which doubles the money and experience you earn, both of which can be gained quite quickly without it.

Robocraft is a game in a deadlock with it's own flaws, stuck in an endless cycle of balancing and rebalancing that manages to be fairly satisfying despite it's incomplete state. Be forewarned that it does take a fair degree of ingenuity to learn and lots of study to master, especially given it's constantly changing state.

Overall, I'd say it's worth the effort, but not a good match for those looking for something casual.

Intro:
RoboCraft is a game about building your own vehicles and fighting other people's vehicles. Vehicles are voxel like while the terrain you fight in isn't. Currently the game modes are capture the base where you try and capture the other teams base or just kill them all and boss mode whether you be the boss or challenge the boss. Typically the boss or bosses is a higher leveled robot than yours so you have to use teamwork to take them down.

Pros:
+ Build anything you want.
+ Content is still being added
+ Free Promo Codes every once in awhile to help you get that much needed currency to build your robot and progress.
+ Mostly balanced matchmaking, both teams will have as close to the same amounts of gun types as possible (There are currently 5).

Cons:
- Giant grind to the highest tier (Bad depending on the person)
- Higher level and tier can build more complex stuff and have more access to different types of building materials.
- Bad teammates, medics, and megabots.
- Only 2 map types, ice planet and mars. 5 maps total. (May change in the future). 1 map if doing boss battles.

It is amazing this game is still in development.
Platoons to be able to play with friends is a bit iffy, but the game is well balanced.
This isn't pay to win.
It takes time, practice, and skill to do well in games.
It is also hard to be overpowered as strong weapons mean weak armor and vice versa.

**KEEP IN MIND THIS GAME IS IN EARLY ACCESS. MY VIEWS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS THE GAME ITSELF CHANGES**

Robocraft is a game about building robots, Adding guns to them and battling other players' bots from around the world. I could literally dump hours into the game and never get bored of it. But mind you the game is; much like all others, plagued with bugs; There are countless Physics and Collision issues aswell as many map exploits such as methods to get inside rocks, Outside of the barrier and under the map where players are able to shoot out of aswell as the game's constant habit to crash at unexpected times. Although if you can get past all the exploits there is a really solid game behind it all.
The game tracks your progress through "Tiers". Each item in the game is given "Robot Ranking" which determine which tier you will be placed in. Each tier has a specific Minimum and Maximum Ranking. As you progress through tiers you unlock access to different types of Movement, Weaponry, Shielding (Electroplates) and Building Blocks to help aid you in battle. During a Battle you are given access to a Chat Box where you can Strategise with your team or have a friendly discussion with the Enemy. You are also given the ability to "Spot" Enemies. Spotted enemies appear on your Screen and Minimap for 12 Seconds; Beware though, The enemy can do the same to you. The items you can unlock range from Weapons that Heal Teammates (Nano Disruptor), Average Machine Guns (SMG), Weapons that fire Explosive Projectiles that deal Splash Damage (Plasma Cannon), Items you can ram enemies with to deal Damage (Tesla Blade) and a weapon you can use to deal damage from the safety of the other side of the map (Rail Cannon), Shields that block a certain amount of damage (Electroplate), Leg-Like Movement that you can use to climb cliffs (Walker Leg), Movement-Type items that allow Flight (Aerofoil, Helium & Rudders) aswell as another movement type that will keep you a set distance above the ground (Hoverblade).
The bots you encounter in battle will differ; There are never 2 of the exact same bot on a team every experience is different.

--Gamemodes--
Tier Battle
Tier Battles is the regular gamemode for all Tiers of robots. Here you engage in combat with players from around the world. The first team to capture the enemy Base or kill all robots on the enemy team wins.

Challenge
Challenge Battles consist of 14 Lower-Tier players Vs. 4 Higher Tier Players. The Objective of which is generally the same as Tier Battles: Execute all Bots on the enemy Team or capture the Challenger's Base. Be mindful though; The Challengers pack higher powered Weaponry then the Challengee's meaning you will need to Strategise with your team in order to defeat them; Or just blindly run at them and see what happens.

Megaboss
Megaboss Battles are a harder, Much more difficult variant of Challenge Battles. Here; 14 Tier 5 - 7 Players are locked into battle against a single, Extremely strong Robot known as a Megabot. Megabots are known for their immense size and firepower aswell as the ability to destroy a smaller robot with minimal effort. Again, The main objective of this gamemode is to either Kill the Megabot or capture their base or Destroy all of the lower tier robots if you are playing as the Megabot.

Overall
6/10

It's a bit tough to get going, but with a little bit of patience, it can be really fun. It's sometimes a little bit grindy, and there is no story line, but the gameplay is fantastic. I loved it as soon as I launched it, and I would totaly recomend this game to anybody.

Robocraft is a creative game allowing you, the player to build tanks, planes and anything you wish. The game is a multiplayer online experience on the line of "World of Tanks". :Negative: The game is fairly entertaining, however there is not really a good matchmaking system thus you might get paired up against a very powerful team. The seperation of tiers helps this, but the game still is not very well balanced. The game is free to play so if are willing to put in some time, you will not lose any money. The biggest problem however is that it takes a long time to get anywhere. You can not build a plane until halfway through the game, and this put a damper on my spirits when I first booted up the game. When you get to the fourth tier, you will start noticing a big problem. The railgun( ie sniper rifle. The rail gun puts a very big handicap on people trying to get through the game as you will notice yourself getting repeatedly picked off multiple times. Now, for most fps players you're probably thinking "Well that doesn't seem like a bad problem as most shooters have very big sniper problems". Well the sniper problem tends to be a bit bigger in Robocraft due to the fact that the maps are very open, meaning there is less cover to hide behind. There is also a shortage of maps, as there are only 5 different maps to play on. The servers are also very buggy as you will most likely have to resolve crashes and restart your computer frequently.:Positive: The game allows much more freedom than most games as you are actually able to build your own tank rather than choose from a preexisting one. The game is great for creative people who also want some action out of their creations (for those of you that have played Minecraft and wanted to build a giant siege engine you know what I mean). The game is of course still free to play so if you are unsure you can easily download it,and create an online acount. For those of you that might not have internet I am afraid there is no way for you to experience this. Robocraft is a fun and enjoyable experience with a lot of big problems that may or may not be fixed.

This is a very fun game! You build your own robot (really just a vehicle) and fight to the death with other peoples creations. There is a countless amount of potential creations one could design and build. It's challenging, however it seems to be impossible to play with any individual person by choice and you can only play within randomly chosen teams.

Absolutely incredible game! It is a perfect mix of creativity, strategy and action in all the right combination. It is not necessary of pay to play, but I have more money than time and wanted to progress faster with more garage spots. Plus I want to financially support something that has given me many hours of fun.

You have only 15 minutes to play... Robocraft is a great fit. You only have 15 hours to play... Robocraft is a great fit.

It could use more maps and the ability to opt out of certain game modes... lvl 3's vs lvl 6's/7's = waste of time (please don't make me blow myself up to get out of these horribly lopsided & pointless matches).
