What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Robocraft has been built with a dedicated community of Robocrafters from the very beginning. It's first release was in April 2013 and had no multiplayer and no combat. From that point and to now the game has grown to it's full MMO state and whilst we still call it a 'Live Alpha' you will find it a very polished and fully featured experience.”

How long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect the game to remain in Early Access for at least the next 6 months after it's initial release on Steam. This way the Steam community can help to shape the game as the rest of the Robocraft community has so far.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“When Clan Battles, Tournaments, Megabots (players as bosses in Boss Battles vs. other users), plus integration of Steam Leaderboards and Steam Achievements.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We call it 'Early Alpha' but we expect you to find it as polished and fully featured as most 'Beta' releases.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, Robocraft will always be Free-to-play and our prices won't change as a result of shifting from Early Access to a full release in future.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Freejam (the developer of Robocraft) has community in it's blood. The work Freejam is a combination of 'Free' and 'Jam' where 'Free' shows our dedication to keeping Robocraft always Free and 'Jam' stands for 'Jamming'. We like to think of Robocraft as a game that has been built from the ground up with the community and 'Jamming' with the community is ingrained in everything we do.”

Rise of the Walkers Hotfix#3 is now live!

“Rise of the Walkers” - Hot Fix #3

Version 0.7.859

BOSS BATTLES NOW LIVE - HONESTLY

Yes, this was a bit of a hash, but we are the first game ever - we think - to attempt 1 vs. 20 PVP boss battles in an online MMO, and we do only have a 10 man dev team, so it was bound to work first time wasn’t it :)

Anyway, Ed, has totally reworked the lobby code to make boss battles work, and to improve server queue times across the board, so hopefully you’ll see this improve a lot

We will of course be monitoring it closely to ensure it’s stable before moving onto any more new features etc.

Boss cool-down time is now 24 hours, and everyone will be assigned a random cooldown time between 0-24 hours on first login so that we can stagger users usage of the feature

Boss battles are now limited to T8 and above, to ensure that the Robocraft ecosystem can cope with the popularity of the boss battle feature and sustain it over the longer term

LOTS OF OTHER CHANGES

Nano Disruptors no longer auto-target enemies

Nano Disruptors now have an improved auto-targeting algorithm for allies, splitting healing more evenly to those in range and ignoring allies that are at 100% health already

Nano Disruptor laser no longer engages an ally if they are at 100% health already

Nano Disruptor heal rate increased by a little at T7, and a little more at T8, etc. and as much as 25% at T10

Healing a robot for more than 5% of its health gives you an 'assist' similar to damaging a player that is later killed. You can only get one healing assist per player, per game.

Plasma Damage decreased by 10%

Plasma Blast Radius decreased to match the size of the blast special effects (they were between 10-15% larger than the SFX before)

Fixed a bug which prevented Rails doing damage sometimes

Fixed a bug in Rail causing them to lock up when one had been shot off whilst recharging

Map ceiling heights have been changed as we noticed that the height varied a lot between levels. The heights now all match the height that was allowed in Mars #3 (which means a reduction of around 10% in max ceiling in some maps, and less in others)

Added country badges to the cosmetics for France and South Korea as requested by some users from those nations

New Robot added to the Roboshop (T7 Scarab)

Legs remain retracted after a jump if you continue to hold the spacebar, allowing flying-walkers to get off the ground more cleanly

Fixed places where Robots could go beyond bounds of minimap

Fixed a couple of placement issues with Electroplates, Thrusters and Walker Legs

Fixed a bug that prevented Helium from functioning properly after being repaired

Fixed a few description errors in the Cube Depot etc. (thanks to the users who reported these)

EASTER EGG

As a special reward to all users who read the release notes properly, we’ve added an easter egg to the game. Everyone who discovers the easter egg will receive a cosmetic cube that can only be obtained by the promo code revealed by the easter egg. If you discover the easter egg you could of course simply share the promo code to others, but we think it would be more fun if you kept it to yourself. You will see why if you find it :)

Mission start. My team storms for the center of the map to meet the tide of enemy machines, congregating at the foot of the bridge that makes up the fastest route between the enemy bases. On the other side, the enemies are doing the same. Before anyone makes a dash across the bridge, one of the enemy vehicles pulls out in front. It is just a simple, flat, pure white vehicle with a white Christian cross mounted on top. The base is just wide enough that it blocks the entire bridge and all of his teammates can't get past him to fight us. One of my teammates almost instantly shot that cross to pieces and then his teammates managed to wedge underneath his craft and send him flipping over the side of the bridge into the canyon far below, never to be seen again.

I saw this happen. I saw this happen with my eyes. It happened. It happened on Mars.

A great game that tests your skills in efficiency, building and physics. Fun game although it can get pretty tedious when building and thinking of a build for your first craft nevertheless trial and error is always the way to go in this game unless you watch several YouTube videos :)

I seriously love this game and with the new patch nobody can say, that this game is "pay to win" (it wasn't even before). I spend lots of time with this game and I am now in tier 7. I haven't paid any money yet but I am considering because the game brought me lots of joy. It is not only about the PvP part but also about the building part, trying to make the best out of your bot. There are 4 different classes of weapons which make it quiet interesting. In the first two tiers it can sometimes be a little frustrating, especially if you don't have a good design but that should only make you wanna build a better one ;)
For everybody who like PvP this is a must-try and for everybody who wants to find the engineer inside himself, it is too :)

Hey here is my review of this great crafting your vehicle game.
So that i realy like about it is 4 types of geometry shapes made from cude still...
So....! the x = 35 y = 45 z = 50 blocks and it's planty of space for your creativity.
And the tech tree is realy making you play the game cuz it's so good. Yeah so about battles
it's not bad but have some big minuses such as, your wheels got blown up and game over, not realy sure what eals is wrong
but all in this case have some serious moments gameplay cuz you always got to look in sky scan ground to don't get killed
and so on realy like FPS thing going on here.
So thats my review for now good game take a go minion, bro, gamer it's perfect time killer.

Loads of fun. I have laughed more playing this game than any game I can remember in a long, long time. Not only is the building and combat extremely fun, but some of the contraptions and what people do with them will literally make you laugh so hard you'll come to tears.

I highly recommend playing this game.

Robocraft is a game where you build a tank in a Minecraft like environment, then use it and fight. This game is very fun (and a bit addictive), and is something that I would reccomend. 10/10!

This game is super fun. You have a plethora or blocks, guns, wheels, turbines, etc to build your own robot any way you like.

I just noticed there was an update (that plane looks awesome, going to install again and check it out!)

The only bad part so far is the limited maps. Seems to be about 2 different kinds of levels (desert and snow) with I think 2-4 differnt maps for each - gets boring fast.

Also, one bad thing is that people will abuse the higher level guns and build a minimalist vehicle with one higher power gun and just sit back and wreck everyone, so that gets a bit frustrating.

Highly relies on team work.

Would recommend. This game can only get better, and it's free!

Fun and addicting, never get bored of it because of all the cool new options and upgrades after leveling up. The most interesting part is being able to test whatever design for a vehicle you want.

This is a great game. I have really been enjoying it for the past week. I even signed up for a premium account. I wasn't sure that it was very deep when it first came out, but it is still in Alpha stage. The game is very deep. It's fun and challenging. After every game, I have a blast redesigning and improving my ship to make it better. Then in the next battle you can really see how the changes affect your ability to fight well. A good design works well in combat. A bad design does not work well. The game is really fun! The designers in Portsmouth, England will be improving it for years, and I can't wait to see what they come up with.

I loved this game at first. So fun and building your own creations was always fun. Then, when you go higher and higher through the tiers, you look at things differently. "I must build a better robot to kill the other robot!" you think to yourself. But then, you realise that there is only one good robot shape. The gunbed. Soon, the game loses the charm it once had in tiers 1-3. You no longer see a giant white ♥♥♥♥♥ or a ridiculously large tower. It gets worse. I spent $5 on this game. Then, I was so overpowered, I didn't feel like playing anymore. It's too easy once you buy premium. So, I do recommend this game, but it is only to be enjoyed for a short while. Soon, it will get boring.
