What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We wanted to involve our players in the development process earlier than ever. Early access seemed the right way to accomplish that!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to fully launch Landmark in Spring 2016.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Early Access began with building, world manipulation, and resource gathering. Over the course of Early Access, we experimented with a number of different features, including monsters and caves, and new loot. At the end of Early Access, and at Launch, players can expect to see more robust building and content creation tools that will allow them the power to create fully-interactive experiences for other players to explore and enjoy.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We’ve added in PVP, basic combat, crafting and achievements. We’re continuing to refine these systems while also adding new features into the game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. At launch, Landmark will be $9.99.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We collaborate with our community very heavily. We want them to be a part of the team, able to make suggestions about new features as well as about balancing, tweaking or changing current features. We’ll be communicating with them via forums, reddit, Twitter and any other social media that is appropriate to make the game as great as it can be.”

Another failed launch title, unfinished and abandoned. Steam needs to seriously consider the work they put up for sale on their platform. Money grab, do not purchase. It had a lot of potential but the overall pathetic nature of the developers has really staked this game through the heart. Devs should be the targets of lawsuits if they keep up with this "Early Access" scheme. If you cannot complete what was promised and cover it up with excuse after excuse before ultimately shutting down the project, sincerely go "love yourself" devs. We don't need your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t clogging up steam, you third rate hacks.

Daybreak is quickly getting a reputation for grabbing your money then abandoning their projects. Which is the main reason I would not suggest this game.

Save your money for Devs who are willing to finish projects.

Landmark is nothing but a big open world in which you can destroy and build ♥♥♥♥. That's it. Well, your choice to buy now.
I would ask for a refund cause I feel scammed for yet another Early Access game that will never see release daylight in full glory. This is one of the reasons I will never buy any Early Access game ever again.

Landmark is an ok game, basically an upgraded version of minecraft. The only reason it enticed me before was the wait for EQ Next, which is now dead. Landmark itself just isn't that fun for me honestly I think minecraft is better :P

If you like building games give it a go, it can be fun creating these amazing structures, but it takes time.. which I don't feel like giving.

Biggest con is complete garbage FPS drops, which has been an issue since early beta testing. I'm talking 70 FPS down to 10, VERY frequently transversing the islands.

Absolutely do not buy this game, it is a horrible rip off. After both Steam and Daybreak refused to refund me, I decided to have it removed entirely from my account. Thankfully I only wasted $20 on it. Save yourself the headache, go play something else, or wait for another title that actually delivers.

Don't buy.

EverQuest Next is cancelled so there really isn't a reason for this game to exist anymore, other than as a Minecraft-esque social platform.

Gameplay is average, experience is average; but without EQNext on the horizon Landmark loses much of its value.

Good luck getting a refund though - Steam are like Nazis with their policy and I doubt Daybreak (SOE) cares.

With EQ Next cancelled there's no reason for this "game" to exist. Don't waste your time and money on this.

Release trailers had me very excited for this game a few years ago, and willingly I paid extra for a Beta Founders package.

Two years later, and what a sad way for a game to go. Very disappointed at learning the development has been shelved with little to no refunds for investors, leaving very little content included.

So much was expected, anticipated - this game could have gone great places, but unfortunately the ghostland it resembles now is all you will find.

Empty servers with only remenants of builds.

Hands off to those who have created plots in early Beta - a walk in museum-come-graveyard, housing some amazing creativity.

A true shame.

I do not recommend purchasing Landmark. You will be hard pressed to find any other players, and while your own server may seem a wonderful prospect, a lack of content will leave you twiddling your thumbs.

4.5 hours on records with steam. Tons before and during the SOE phase. I really got on board to add my bit to building the next Everquest. But, they waited too long to call a duck a duck and lied the whole way. When this game first came out we all asked, "Is this EverQuest?" and were told the technology will be used in the EverQuest, but it was not the next EverQuest. EverQuest Next was the next EverQuest. We all nodded and smiled and took the bait.

Fastforward a few years, multiple bad decisions, and blowing their feature load on this game without listening to player feedback on the game system itself, and EverQuest Next is vaporware (cancelled) and this piece of crap is shovelware they are going to be cramming down your throats soon hoping to make some cash off people getting to this party late. Feature complete it ain't. Heck, game and character wipes are still coming down the pipe after their upcoming "release". Not to mention the past 6+ months of almost defeaning dev silence. And, honestly, what could they have shown us to make us play EQN at this point? Everything in it was here first. They even had players building their own game cities for them ffs.

Do not buy into this. There are better sandboxes. There are better voxel games. Just go search Steam. Daybreak is just trying to milk you for a proof of concept that failed to even do that. Their entire catalogue consists of games 10-15+ years old and a pos zombie survival sandbox that couldn't do either well so they split it and are trying to see if either can succeed solo at least (while shoveling lockboxes out in piles, a sure sign of success). Everything they are doing is just a function of being bought out by a profit driven investment firm who is trying to squeeze every penny out of Daybreak while they circle the drain and bleed developers left and right.

Ef em. I am publicly begging you to spend your money elsewhere. Maybe Daybreak will go under and someone who actually wants to develop for the EQ franchise will have a chance to do so instead when it gets sold to them.

If the AAA developers are going to treat the games we love like this, then they deserve to step aside and the the indies in. This is bullcrap. Uninstalled and good riddance.

So, the game is dead.

They announced this and EQN, but both have been abandoned it seems, BUT THEY HAVE A NEW PHONE APP!

Gotta get that money any way they can, right?

This, and many games like it, are exactly why Devs should NEVER have been given the opportunity to sell games that aren't finished.

Now that EQ Next is officially canceled Landmark has no future and probably to be shut down soon. Yet another example why you should avoid early access games.
Now Daybreak is "launching" the "full" version of Landmark this spring. This way they won't have to refund anything.

Triple "A" Early Access scam

Many of the early access games we have seen in the past have been really just scams to get peoples to spend all theyre hard earned cash onto it and then nothing really gets done after... we have seen this happen over and over and Landmark is no different.
The game was released in 2014 with lot of talk about how they are gona make it better and what new things they are working on and all the things they showed were so promising peoples literally spend 100$ of dollars into it... years later nothing has changed and no refunds will be issued to anyone.

I hope nobody will ever put money on this again since it should be removed off steam as soon as possible.
