PVP Combat is Now Available!

Combat and Game Tables
• Ladies and Gentlemen... are you ready to rumble? Combat is now in Landmark, and we're starting with PVP.
• To engage in PVP, you'll have to join a Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, or Zone Control Game Table that is running on someones claim (or set up your own!)
• For a more detailed explanation on Combat and Game Tables, please read the detailed notes located here

New to this update, Movers are props that you can place on your claim that will fling, teleport, or generally move you about your claim as you see fit.

Spring Loaded Launcher
This prop will launch the user in the air, at a speed and angle that you specify! Right Click the object and select "Setup" to modify the settings.
Spring Loaded Flinger
This prop acts similarly to the Launcher, but is a two piece prop. The secondary piece can be moved and placed as you see fit, and acts as a landing spot. Simply place the Cube Object wherever you want, and when you activate the flinger, it'll propel you towards the target! You can also right click this object and select "Setup" in order to change the Height (angle.)
Translocation Pad
This is a prop that has two pieces, and can teleport the user from one piece to another. After initially placing the two-piece prop, simply right click one of the Pads and select "Reposition." Move it anywhere else on your claim, and when you walk over one of the Pads, it'll teleport you to the other pad!
Magical Platform
This is a three-piece prop, that acts as a moving platform. You can reposition the two end pieces to make the platform move in any manner that you want. Left to Right, Right to Left, Up and Down, Diagonally - you can even rotate the ends in any axis, which in turn rotates the pad as it moves!
These props can be crafted at the workshop.

Claim Management Overhaul

We've significantly overhauled the Claim Management window. You no longer have to open multiple windows to edit your claim, or pay upkeep - this is now an all-in-one solution that lets you easily manage everything in one window.
Press U to open Claim Management
On the left side, you can see all or your claims. Clicking on one of them will refresh the middle pane of the window with that selected claims information (no more separate windows!)
In that middle pane you can update your screenshots, change the claim name and description, and add tags. There is a tab on top of that middle pane that accesses the Security Settings.
The right pane displays the Upkeep information for all of your claims. Simply input the number of days you'd like to pay, and it'll tell you how much Copper or SC it will cost.
Speaking of SC, we've added the option for you to pay for your upkeep with Station Cash. The current cost is 10 SC per day, per claim.

Showcase and Player Studio Enhancements

You can now Follow players and tags within the Showcase!
On the My Store tab, click "Start Following." From here you can type in the name of your favorite creator, and start following them.
You can also decide to follow certain tags, and this is where you can really get specific.
For example, you could put in two separate tags: PVP and Castle. If you're just searching for these, you would get updates from anyone who submitted something with the tag "PVP" or "Castle."
However, you could also group tags together! So if you only want to get updates on "PVP Castles" then we would only update you when someone submits something that has BOTH of those tags.
Every 24 hours, we'll search for anything that has been successfully submitted to the Marketplace or Gallery, and send you an in-game mail with updates from your followed tags and creators. If you have your personal e-mail on file, we'll also send you an e-mail with the same information.

You can now bundle your Player Studio items together!
Bundling is a system that lets you bundle any approved Player Studio objects together into a single item that can be purchased from the store. This is obviously useful when you’re attempting to sell anything built with modular pieces, or even just to offer collections of your items at a single price point for convenience.
To bundle items together, go to MyStore.
You can only bundle items that have been submitted successfully and approved previously.
When bundling items, you will name the bundle, give it a description, and then add items from your MyStore list into the bundle.
Your bundle price cannot be lower than the total of all the item minimum prices contained within the bundle. Example: If I make an item and submit it to Player Studio, it will have a minimum SC price that needs to be charged. Let’s say I made an archway and the minimum price was 25SC. I list that item for 100SC individually. When I add it to a bundle, it will raise them minimum price of that bundle by the item’s minimum price of 25SC, not by the higher price you decided to charge. 10 such items added into a bundle would raise that bundle’s minimum price by 250SC.
Once a bundle is created, it is submitted through the regular review channels for content check. Once approved, you’re good to go!
You do not pay any additional Listing Fees for creating a bundle. The listing fees were charged already for the individual pieces.
You can create any number of bundles, but you can currently only actively list 10 of them at a time.

Added ten new colored Stucco variations, and sixteen new Burled Wood variations (light and dark tints to all current burled wood textures.) These should add some diversity to Kerran Workshop builds!
We've made the Glass Voxels more clear (it previously had a green tint) and removed the rippled texture from it.

Update Notes - Water!!

Water as a Building Material!
• No longer will you have to fake your fountains and bathtubs with Aquamarine and Glass Window props - Water voxels are here!
• Water recipes using snow and ice have been added to the alchemy station. Refining versions of these recipes have also been added to the various infusers.

About This Game

Landmark is a social building MMO that is currently in Closed Beta. Landmark lets you build anything you can imagine. In addition to building, the game will incorporate combat, survival and a procedurally generated world with endless content below the surface, plus much more. With Landmark's state of the art tools, you have unprecedented control over your creations. Additionally, Player Studio will allow players to submit their creations for possible inclusion in the in-game marketplace and share in the proceeds when their items are sold.

Explore massive Landmark worlds and claim territory, building materials and much more. See what your fellow players have created — and help them build!
This is your chance to help build a game! Build alone or in groups to create Landmarks. Join massive construction competitions and your creations could become a permanent part of the game. Also, selected designs players create will become fixtures in the EverQuest Next world.

Don't get me wrong, this game is very well made. I just feel like its a really greasy move to charge people a minimum of 20$ to get access to the beta of a F2P game. You can apply for a key on their website, and if you really want to give this game a go, I reccommend you do it that way. As it stands, dont do what I did and drop a 20 all willy-nilly without doing proper research.

You may regret it.

Update: To anyone still unsure about giving the paid beta a try, you may want to listen to what this guy has to say...

They are using Pay to Win tactics to charge you to make this game, so that they can use pay to win tactics to charge you to build the content for their other game Everquest: Next which I can only guess will also be pay to win.

After nearly 75 hours and starting to like it I cannot recomend this game. Business practices are important things to consider when purchasing a game because they tell the devs what they can and cannot do with a game. They sell it as a F2P game (that they are charging min 20$ to get in the beta) that is going to basicly be a content creation tool for Everquest next (I'm fine with that I love an adventure& building game, and I'm not a fan of mmo's so this is the perfect side for me!). Now I want to introduce a term a few friends and I have kicked around for a while here and I feel it applies here more than ever. Delta. Games often say they are in alpha or beta and you can get in and play it early and what have you, I buy a lot of early access games and I am for doing this to help the game. However when you have a game that is in a finished enough state that you are selling content for your game it is now in what I term a delta. A false sense of early access for what ever reason so you can over monitize your game is not a decent way to treat your fan/customer base. I am all for games making money hence why I buy early access and I have given probably well over 1000 dollars to games like league of legends. This game has now on two occassions charged players for content in a free to play game that they have sold as an early access game. The game is still adding features so early access is sort of fair, but its not fair to the player to then charge them for lights (a past debacle) or force them to pay into raffles for "exclusive" building props in a building game. If you feel you can micro charge or hold hostage your customer because you have a game good enough with a strong enough draw for the consumer you are done enough to not be early access or at least be dubbed, and not favorably a Delta.

TL:DR = This is "Pay to Win" not "Free to Play"

I've spoken to memebers of the community and I want to point out a few more things. People who purchased the game before the game was on steam were not given steam codes so they cannot voice their opinions on here. Also when the founders packs went on a DEEP discount people were banned or censored on the forums for experssing discontent for the game going on sale BEFORE ITS EVEN OUT! This is just horrible for a company to do and a huge insult to its exsisting customers. The devs then joked about it on twitter. It reminds me of the joke in Wasteland about "buy are new content" then you click on it and its are you kidding the game isnt even out yet. Any how I digress all over the place. The facts are this game is trying its hardest to drum up business to over moneitize a game thats not out and will censor its customers that put in money already. Once they have your money they don't care they just want more. You can build a wall and roof how ever you want but if you want things like doors and windows be prepared to pay. If you want to move better than most (IE double jump) be prepared to pay. They want to charge you for the fun stuff rather than make a fun game and charge you for a skin (I'm not against a market if its done right)

I've been asked how is it pay to win? You don't have access to basic elements for your build with out paying such as lights or doors. They have said that their business model is to leverage "rare" items to stimulate the economy. All they had to do was release a pay door and a free door (wood and steel or color idc) and I would not have cared, because it would have been solely cosmetic. That was not the case there was one door after people had asked for doors for months and months, when they released it it was made a "rare" item you had to "win" from watching streamers play the game. Anyone who wants you to watch other people to play their game to earn valuable items rather than actually sit down in game and earn it yourself is confused as to why we play games. This all started with pay to win things that let you double jump and mave better movement, that is not required to play the game when I was contemplating buying a t-shirt from jinx to get a double jump token it made me reevaluate playing this game.

I have friends (I don't know if they like it or not didnt ask) that have payed for the 100 dollar package and they don't play nor do the people they gave the early access codes too. That has to say something though.

I'm going to give this game a "not yet" because graphic problems and bugs is preventing me from playing after I logged out the first time. (I got blank screen on subsequent startup)

There's also the issue that because this is mmo game, most of the land to build on is claimed/unclaimable unless you travel to the end of the island that's like 5 minutes of pure walking, away from the initial crafting station in the center of map

EDIT (5/17/2014):
THe blank screen problem happens when I set the graphic setting too low, and was bypassable via manually change the config file.
which brings me to the reason why I wanted to lower graphic setting...
basically while playing the latest nVidia graphic driver (gtx 670) either crashes every 10 minutes or so, or the framerate drops to unplayable state (talking screen freeze every swing). The problem apparently is not affected by graphics setting and goes away if I restart the game when it happens.

As for gameplay, it's pretty much minecraft HD for the most part. I've seen other players pretty structures and what not, but the amount of times I had to restart before finishing the foundation for my building practically make it impossible for me to really enjoy the game

Right now, i don't recommend you to buy "Early Access" to this will-be-free-to-play game, because, theres a pretty big chance, you won't be able to play it, and, abit smaller chance, that you won't be able to play it right to the time when it goes free. So, if you don't want to pay said amount of bucks for just ingame items, be aware of such possibility.

Dug a 50 foot hole and had to make a tunnel to escape. 11/10

But in all realness, for what it has already in closed-beta, it's one of the most interesting, surprisingly fun and easy to learn builders I've played. I suppose you could compare it to something like Minescraft, in that you can literally destroy and build anything (I suppose besides other peoples' claims and some cacti.) I've only begun terraforming my new claim (property) but the controls really aren't intimidating like one would think out of a game with all this complex mumbo-jumbo. I have a LOT to do and learn, but I really like where this is headed. I haven't researched really the tie-in between this and Next, other than that I know this is the construction version and Next is the RPG, but they said they were adding combat into Landmark so I really wonder the distinctions between both.
Overall, if you want to chip in $20 for a reaalllyy great part of this work-in-progress, I totally recommend it, just don't expect total perfection since it is, you know, closed-beta.

A little bug list I've comprised for those who really gotta get every detail (I can't stress enought that it is only closed-beta, there are TONS of features left to be added/revised, I urge you do not write this game off because of simple little bugs):
*The FPS has a tendency to skip around anywhere from 5-35, could be the servers, could be my CPU :P
*It did just black screen/crash for the first time when cutting a tree
*Plants will float if you dig out the ground beneath them (not sure if intended or just silly mistake)
*I can walk on water LIKE JESUS :D
That's what I got so far.
