About This Software

GestureWorks Gameplay is a low-cost utility that enables users to define their own controls schemes for many games on Windows 8. Version 3 of Gameplay offers a multitouch GUI and enhanced in-game touch gesture response. Gameplay is compatible with Steam’s In-Home Streaming. Download the free trial to see if Gameplay is compatible with your favorite games today!

Offering a robust set of features, Gameplay allows not just for gamepad and keyboard emulation, but for whole new ways of playing. The utility supports mouse and keyboard input. These can be mapped to onscreen objects, like D-pads, joysticks, buttons, and switches, but can also be mapped to a variety of multitouch gestures. Gamers can simply link a game matching Gameplay’s requirements and enjoy touch controls as an overlay on top of their game.

The Android Remote feature allows gamers to turn their Android devices into customizable gamepads and connect via Bluetooth to any Windows 8 device running GestureWorks Gameplay - even Windows 8 devices without touchscreens. Multiplayer setups are also possible with Android Remotes or other peripherals, allowing local co-op and competitive play. The Android Remote also features accelerometer support so that motion controls can be mapped to the accelerometer in the Android device.

The new HCI Pack DLC allows gamers to use a host of new HCI devices to create rich custom interaction schemes. Custom voice commands can be added to games that previously only used limited keyboard and mouse input. High fidelity 3D motion and wearable sensor gestures can be added to games to complement existing interactions or entirely replace control methods. Users can even blend input methods such as touch and voice controls or motion and touch to create hybrid controllers that open fresh new ways to experience and explore PC games.

Gameplay is great on tablets and other Windows 8 touchscreen devices, making gaming more mobile without sacrificing games that are not already touch-enabled. The concept of an editable and shareable “Virtual Controller” enables users to publish their own creations to the Gameplay community. There are over 600 Virtual Controllers created by community available for download.

Awesome software! A little tricky to get it to work, but when it does it's amazing!

For those who want to use this on Steam In-House Streaming here's a quick and dirty guide:

1) Launch Gestureworks Gameplay.

2) Uncheck every other game and create a new profile.

3) Edit the new profile and click on settings on the top right.

4) Click "Browse File System" and locate "streaming_client.exe" in "C:\Program Files\Steam".

5) Close out of Gestureworks Gameplay window, but make sure it's still running in the system tray. (You can't stream a game if it's running because steam only lets you run one thing at a time.)

Now just make sure Steam is running on your main PC and your tablet. Make sure your games on your tablet show up as "Stream" and press the stream button and it should launch your games and Gestureworks buttons should show up soon after!

Enjoy!

Why I got this software? I was trying to find games that had low system requirements and games that could be played with touchscreen. This limited my choises to a handful of games. Old games were not playable with touchscreen and newer ones had too high system requirements.

GestureWorks Gameplay solved this problem. I can enable a virtual keyboard while in game, and use virtual controller or even voice commands.

Biggest problem with this software is the learning curve. To get out most of it, you need to spend half an hour to familiarize yourself with the options. Most of the people who got it and gave it negative reviews did not do that. The price is also cheap.

A few months ago I thought my gaming days were over when a bear bit most of my left hand off. Recently I was lamenting the loss of my hand, and how there were a lot of new games I wish had existed in the time when I had both hands. My co-worker suggested I try gameplay since it allows you to customize your controller to suit whatever layout best works for you. Well, I just downloaded it and already I’m playing some of my old favorite games from my library. It took some getting used to (so does having a greedy portion of your hand bitten off by a bear LOL!) but, within a few minutes I was playing like before my accident. I imagine it would be even better in the hands, pardon my pun, of anyone with a desire to map a lot of keyboard operations to the screen.

It's a very useful program for Tablet PC owners. It supports most of the games and the number keeps growing. Great possibilities for setting up and creating your own controller for your favorite games. I am among the beta testers now, and I can say that GWG will certainly get better in the future.

When I first installed this, I was getting errors on startup. I felt like I just wasted my cash. Fortunately, the bug got immediately fixed by devs and, well, it kinda went downhill from there - instead of doing my job, I spent many hours trying out various games and playing with the settings, before the battery on my T100 finally drained. If you're a gamer and you have Windows 8 powered tablet, then this software is a must-have. It's highly customizable, supports many games and works just fine. Mind blown!
