About This Game

Things have gone wild at the Cartown Zoo!

Today's the grand opening of the Cartown Zoo, and there's still so much to do: zoo chow is running low, and all the baby animals are missing. Putt-Putt® and Pep need your child's help to reunite the little ones with their parents before Outback Al can open the gates. Along the way, they'll swing across alligator-infested rivers, play ice hockey with a polar bear, build a bridge out of icebergs, bop with dancing penguins, and enjoy other adventures. This zoo is full of loyal friends and captivating challenges that are sure to run wild through your child's imagination.

  • Take breaks from the action to play games, sing songs, paint Putt-Putt® or learn about the animals you find in the zoo.
  • Click Points reveal hundreds and hundreds of hidden surprises.
  • Use Putt-Putt's® special camera to take picture of your favorite zoo animals and print them out.
  • Out of time? You can save the game and finish it later.

Probably one of my most favorite innovative story-telling games of this year, and it's not even from this year.

Needs more squids, still 9.3/10 would play again

One of my first H.E. games back as a kid, followed by Freddie Fish, Pajama Sam, and Spy Fox.

This game has aged well since it was made in the 90's. Plenty of hidden gags to find for children to spend hours and hours on.

Here's the story:
Cartown Zoo is having a grand opening, and Putt-Putt is off to visit with Zoo Chow from the grocery store owner Mr. Baldini (he's italian). The Cartown Zoo is run by Outback Al (he's australian). Putt-Putt learns that the baby animals are missing and the zoo needs repairs done before opening. Putt-Putt takes on the task to find the missing baby animals, while Al does the heavy work. (Makes sense since Putt-Putt is a child and Al is an adult).

Putt-Putt needs to find 5 missing baby animals: a Lion Cub, a Seal, an Elephant, a Hippo, and a Snake. All can be found between three regions of the zoo: Articland, Grasslands, and Jungleland.

There's a bit of puzzle solving, but challenging enough for a child to solve. There's also two mini-games: Hockey (pong-style), and Spot the Animal. Can even change Putt-Putt's color (a running theme in every Putt-Putt game). Can also take pictures of the animals, and a few cars, in the zoo.

Getting the complete Putt-Putt set would save you money if your child enjoyed one of the Putt-Putt games, or for nostaliga purposes; same goes for the complete H.E. set.

I was three when I first played this game and all of the other games by Humongous Entertainment and I am surprised to find out that these games can still be entertaining to me now even though I am much older. I mostly recommend buying this game if you played it when you were younger and want to have a nostalgia trip or if you are a parent with a young kid. These games taught me how to use a computer and were the first games I ever played so they'll always be close to my heart.

Despite being somebody who is 30+ years over the target audience for this game, and also has no nostalgia for the Putt-Putt or Humongous Entertainment games (as I was past the target audience when this game came out), I can still say that this game is actually kind of fun. It's obviously meant for little children, and the game is short even if you completely explore (which in this game, also means clicking everything in the background to see what noise it makes or how it reacts). However, it's still a cute little point-and-click adventure game. Nobody gets harmed in this game, everybody has cute or silly little voices, the game is as inoffensive as they come; this game would be perfect for little kids who aren't too jaded about today's technology and wonder why this game wasn't released on something with a touch screen.

Have you ever wanted to be a part of a gang so hardcore they couldn't even talk about their operations? Have you ever wanted to live the bad life? Have you ever wanted to make money by being a boss?

I have. This game is about a purple car.

Putt Putt Saves the Zoo is one of the best games in existance, while people might argue that GTA or Elder Scrolls is better, they clearly haven't played Putt Putt.

Pros:
Cheap ($6.99) [2.79 at the time of this review]
Teaches you how to drive
Great dialogue
Intense gameplay featuring the life and death situations of baby animals
A++ voice acting from some of the best in the business
Fun minigames for some side action
Fluid animation
Brilliant storyline
HOT ZIGGITY

Cons:
Bugs (i encountered one animation glitch with the lion cub, which did not affect gameplay)

TL;DR:
A 12/10 game for a cheap price that will make your friends jealous.

This is, by far, my favorite Putt-Putt game in the series.

I don't know about anyone else, but when I was younger, I used to wrap myself in a blanket, drinking hot cocoa, immersed in this game. Even though I am nearly an adult, I still enjoy and absolutely adore this game.

Just as the name implies, the zoo is in trouble, and it is up to Putt-Putt, along with his pet dog Pep, to help out. From icy terrain to the heart of the jungle, Putt-Putt must save animals scattered throughout the field.

One of my favorite things to do with each Putt-Putt game is that you can change the color. It's a little feature added to the series, but I always liked how you could paint this little fellow. (I always color him blue).

Despite the dusty years, Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo, and all games for that matter, continues to shine. The memories left behind gives nostalgia a warm welcome.
