New Update and New Languages Available

Hello Everyone,

A new update for Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo is now available which contains the following:

  • I have updated ScummVM from 1.6.0 to 1.7.0 across Windows, OS X and GNU/Linux.
  • opengl_nearest is the new display renderer. This provides really sharp looking graphics and also ensures 100% Steam Overlay functionality for Windows. It runs at your monitors current resolution.
  • I have completely re-written the shell launcher for GNU/Linux and implemented a new libraries system. This should allow for many more users of GNU/Linux to play the game and not just people on the latest versions of Ubuntu and Mint.
  • The Modern ScummVM skin now works on GNU/Linux. You can access the ScummVM menu by pressing CTRL+F5 (or Fn+F5 for Mac OS X) at any time.
  • ScummVM source code has been updated to 1.7.0. SDL source code is now included.

Also, I'd like to officially announce that the game is now availabe in French (Français), German (Deutsch) and Dutch (Nederlands) and the languages are free for all customers.

Enjoy the update and thank you for playing :)

About This Game

Things have gone wild at the Cartown Zoo!

Today's the grand opening of the Cartown Zoo, and there's still so much to do: zoo chow is running low, and all the baby animals are missing. Putt-Putt® and Pep need your child's help to reunite the little ones with their parents before Outback Al can open the gates. Along the way, they'll swing across alligator-infested rivers, play ice hockey with a polar bear, build a bridge out of icebergs, bop with dancing penguins, and enjoy other adventures. This zoo is full of loyal friends and captivating challenges that are sure to run wild through your child's imagination.

  • Take breaks from the action to play games, sing songs, paint Putt-Putt® or learn about the animals you find in the zoo.
  • Click Points reveal hundreds and hundreds of hidden surprises.
  • Use Putt-Putt's® special camera to take picture of your favorite zoo animals and print them out.
  • Out of time? You can save the game and finish it later.

I have had this game since 2000 (Orignally came out 1995). Its nice to see that older games can come to sites like Steam in order to work on newer computers. This game is very low paced, which is great for smaller children. Its your typical 90's point-and-click game. Most objects that you click make funny actions and sounds. Its a unique feature that you dont see in many games now days. It gives you a smile. It really doesnt last that long, probably lasts about 1 hour at most, but its still somewhat fun. If you have the time, want to get your child into gaming, or just in the mood to play a low paced game, heres a good game to play.

This is, by far, my favorite Putt-Putt game in the series.

I don't know about anyone else, but when I was younger, I used to wrap myself in a blanket, drinking hot cocoa, immersed in this game. Even though I am nearly an adult, I still enjoy and absolutely adore this game.

Just as the name implies, the zoo is in trouble, and it is up to Putt-Putt, along with his pet dog Pep, to help out. From icy terrain to the heart of the jungle, Putt-Putt must save animals scattered throughout the field.

One of my favorite things to do with each Putt-Putt game is that you can change the color. It's a little feature added to the series, but I always liked how you could paint this little fellow. (I always color him blue).

Despite the dusty years, Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo, and all games for that matter, continues to shine. The memories left behind gives nostalgia a warm welcome.

Have you ever wanted to be a part of a gang so hardcore they couldn't even talk about their operations? Have you ever wanted to live the bad life? Have you ever wanted to make money by being a boss?

I have. This game is about a purple car.

When the Humongous games first came to Steam (on my birthday no less!), I was so excited! I looked through all the choices and saw most of my favorite Humongous titles, buying each one. However, much to my sadness, I did not see Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo, which happens to be my all-time favorite. Ever since that day, I periodically checked Steam to see if they'd ever put it up and sure enough, today, I saw it and instantly bought it! I couldn't be happier! The game still stands the test of time and is as great as I remembered it! The style, the voice acting, all the little stuff you can do and listen to... It's perfect. Thank you Humongous for bringing me so much joy as a kid AND an adult. I'm so glad I know the good that you did in the early 90s and I think it helped me and many others become better people.

And thank you Steam for bringing these joyful, colorful games to your roster. Never stop being beautiful.

If you're a parent who's looking for a game that will leave a great impression on your young children or even just a person who wants to play a fun, early point-and-click adventure, this is the game for you!
