About This Game

Things have gone wild at the Cartown Zoo!

Today's the grand opening of the Cartown Zoo, and there's still so much to do: zoo chow is running low, and all the baby animals are missing. Putt-Putt® and Pep need your child's help to reunite the little ones with their parents before Outback Al can open the gates. Along the way, they'll swing across alligator-infested rivers, play ice hockey with a polar bear, build a bridge out of icebergs, bop with dancing penguins, and enjoy other adventures. This zoo is full of loyal friends and captivating challenges that are sure to run wild through your child's imagination.

  • Take breaks from the action to play games, sing songs, paint Putt-Putt® or learn about the animals you find in the zoo.
  • Click Points reveal hundreds and hundreds of hidden surprises.
  • Use Putt-Putt's® special camera to take picture of your favorite zoo animals and print them out.
  • Out of time? You can save the game and finish it later.

During the late 90’s/early 2000’s Humongous Entertainment released an absolutely fantastic stream of “edutainment” point and click adventures for children. These titles focus on a range of light academics including basic geography, basic to upper elementary level mathematics, logical thinking, critical thinking and puzzle solving, topped off with reinforcement of good manners and polite social etiquette. At the lower end of the age spectrum, they may require some adult supervision and supportive guidance, but there is no better series of games for a child’s first venture into PC gaming.

Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo is the pinnacle of the Putt-Putt Franchise. Between that absolutely brilliant opening theme and the best arctic exhibit in all of gaming, Saving the Zoo will forever hold the trophy for best Putt-Putt game of all time in my mind. To this very day I will shamelessly replay this game and enjoy it every bit as much as when I was a child. My children WILL grow up with this game in their lives and your kids should as well.

This game changed my outlook on life. When Skeeter the snake told me about the glorious coils of the beyond, I knew I couldnt go back to the man I was. Anyone going into this experience has to know that it is an allegory for modern capitalism in american society. Mr. Baldini represents the man as he tries to suppress the inevitable and glorious proletarian revolution. Im also pretty sure he called me a racial slur. Once you get to the zoo, you are greeted by another ethnic stereotype as "Outback Al" orders you too return the animals he views as his property. This is doubtless a reference to Joseph Conrad's classic work Heart of Darkness, as Im like 90% sure hes a Belgian stereotype. The next pitfall of the borugeiosie scum is the food cart. I spent at least 50 minutes of my playthrough trying to solve the "cheese squiggly" puzzle. After that I met the monkies, who enjoy jazz and hanging out in trees. I tried using the rope to no avail. I dont want to spoil the entire game, so i'll only give you one last juicy tidbit of advice; To get the best ending, be sure to save the hippo instead of the snake. Only that way can you use his skin on the final boss. All in all, 4/10 it was ok I guess.

In all of its original glory comes Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo on Steam. This was one of the earliest games I remember playing, if not the oldest. It's a great point and click game. But it's just that, the game and only the game without any improvements. I ended up beating it in just over 30 minutes time. Absolutely recommended for anyone looking for a nostalgia hit or for any kids.

Alt + Enter changes full screen game to windowed. S goes to the save game "manager." ESC skips the cutscene.

Obligatory Score: 9/10

This game was amazing I'm 16 and enjoy this game so much that I stopped fapping to porn and started fapping to this masterpiece!

I've beat the game atleast ~24 times I'm gonna keep replaying it until I'm dead.
However, I thank my friend T Game for buying this masterpiece, and hope he buys me more! (I'm serious u focking beech)

I met a snake named "Skeeter" he reminded me of my first skeet when I was 9 years old! I didn't like the way u had to save the snake tho, I mean why not rope to pull him out from under the bridge instead of giving him focking HOT COCO?!
The other animals are focking stupid I mean how does a lion end up on a rock, and the worst part the rock was in the middle of the 90ft waterfall, focking logic.
Giraffe who doesn't bother to stretch his long erected neck to push the rock and set himself free!
Elephant scared ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of a mouse atleast that makes sense, but really how does a fat ♥♥♥ elephant end up in the artic stuck on an iceberg without it sinking and magically the iceberg fit like a puzzle piece! Best part when u fit the puzzle together the iceberg looks like a long chode ♥♥♥♥!

Thus, this game has amazing soundtrack! I sing this song everywhere I go! I'll sing it for you too while im at it!

♫ We are the topiary creatures,
We're very pleased to meet ya's
Señors y señoritas, too.
The animals we feature,
You know would never eat'cha
We sing so very sweet to you...

Welcome to the Zoo (zoo zoo)
With the kangaroos (roos roos)
And the tigers too (too too)
Welcome to the ZOO-ZOO-ZOO!

So show some self-reliance
Come in and see out clients
But do not feed the giant yaks
You'll learn about the lions,
And advertising tie-ins
And maybe learn some science facts.

So wipe off your windshield so you can see,
The elephant, the monkey and the chimpanzee,
Canaries, peccaries, the bears are all hairy,
The cheetahs, cicadas, gorillas and gators,
The emu and the llama very similar to the dromedary,
Turtles and the tortoises, the dolphins and the porpoises,
Mice, lice, geese, moose-
Welcome to the ZOO-ZOO-ZOO!

We are the topiary creatures,
We're very pleased to meet ya's
I haven't written this verse yet...
But, uh, I will write it
And it will sound much better
Than when we had 'Wet wet wet'

Welcome to the Zoo (zoo zoo)
With the kangaroos (roos roos)
And the tigers too (too too)
Welcome to the ZOO-ZOO-ZOO! ♫

PS: I met a magical floating Giraffe Head

Quallity gameplay and graphics. Animal tag is by far the most innovative and mechanically intense part of the game. 94/20 great for the animal lover in your life.

From this game forward, there is a noticable increase in the quality of games from Humongous Entertainment. The animation, writing, sound quality, art style, and almost every other element of these games just looks and feels SO much better than even the games that were released 1 or 2 years earlier.

As a result, this game is actually not too bad. Yes, it's still a kid's game, so it's not exactly challenging or even super interesting for us adults, but it's still pretty fun if you are playing it for the nostalgia. If you missed the HE bandwagon as a kid and want to see what the fuss is all about... well, personally I would skip Putt-Putt altogether, because the other series are a lot more fun for anyone over 8 years old. Regardless, this game is still pretty charming, and I think that most people can enjoy themselves even without nostalgia to provide extra hype.

Hot Ziggity this was a great game! I reccomend this game to the most serious gamer. It reminds of a sort of Grand Theft Auto (graphics included) and it really portrays the role of a main charcter! If you just spent $2000 dollars on a high end PC, this is the game for you!

THIS IS A STORY ALL ABOUT HOW
MY WHEELS SPUN ROUND AND ROUND AND ROUND
AND I'D LIKE TO TAKE A MINUTE PARK YOUR BUTT THERE
I'LL TELL YA HOW I SAVED A LITTLE BABY SEAL

IN WEST CARTOWN BORN AND RAISED
IN THE 90s WAS WHERE I SPEND MY DAYS
CRUISING WITH MY DOG AND SIPPING WD-40
AND CHASING SOME BUNNIES BECAUSE I FREAKING COULD

WHEN THIS ITALIAN GUY WHO HAD A GROCERY STORE
WAS TOO LAZY TO GET UP AND DO HIS OWN JOB
I DID HIS WORK FOR HIM AND YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENED?
I WENT TO THE ZOO AND GOT PUT INTO SLAVE LABOR

I GOT SOME HOT COCOA AND SOME COTTON CANDY
THE SOUVENIR TRUCK GAVE ME A FRESH CAMERA
BUT WOULDN'T GIVE ME SOME HUBCAPS
BUT I THOUGHT SCREW IT I'VE GOT BABIES TO SAVE

I FINISHED THE JOB IN ONLY 20 MINUTES
AND I GOT TO CUT THE RIBBON TO OPEN THE ZOO
I LOOKED AT ALL THE PEEPS CHEERING ME ON
AND I WENT ON A RAMPAGE AND MURDERED THEM ALL
