About This Game

Things have gone wild at the Cartown Zoo!

Today's the grand opening of the Cartown Zoo, and there's still so much to do: zoo chow is running low, and all the baby animals are missing. Putt-Putt® and Pep need your child's help to reunite the little ones with their parents before Outback Al can open the gates. Along the way, they'll swing across alligator-infested rivers, play ice hockey with a polar bear, build a bridge out of icebergs, bop with dancing penguins, and enjoy other adventures. This zoo is full of loyal friends and captivating challenges that are sure to run wild through your child's imagination.

  • Take breaks from the action to play games, sing songs, paint Putt-Putt® or learn about the animals you find in the zoo.
  • Click Points reveal hundreds and hundreds of hidden surprises.
  • Use Putt-Putt's® special camera to take picture of your favorite zoo animals and print them out.
  • Out of time? You can save the game and finish it later.

This is a good game for any FPS lover. However i recommend you read the manga first so the game makes more sense.

During the late 90’s/early 2000’s Humongous Entertainment released an absolutely fantastic stream of “edutainment” point and click adventures for children. These titles focus on a range of light academics including basic geography, basic to upper elementary level mathematics, logical thinking, critical thinking and puzzle solving, topped off with reinforcement of good manners and polite social etiquette. At the lower end of the age spectrum, they may require some adult supervision and supportive guidance, but there is no better series of games for a child’s first venture into PC gaming.

Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo is the pinnacle of the Putt-Putt Franchise. Between that absolutely brilliant opening theme and the best arctic exhibit in all of gaming, Saving the Zoo will forever hold the trophy for best Putt-Putt game of all time in my mind. To this very day I will shamelessly replay this game and enjoy it every bit as much as when I was a child. My children WILL grow up with this game in their lives and your kids should as well.

In all of its original glory comes Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo on Steam. This was one of the earliest games I remember playing, if not the oldest. It's a great point and click game. But it's just that, the game and only the game without any improvements. I ended up beating it in just over 30 minutes time. Absolutely recommended for anyone looking for a nostalgia hit or for any kids.

Alt + Enter changes full screen game to windowed. S goes to the save game "manager." ESC skips the cutscene.

Obligatory Score: 9/10

Quallity gameplay and graphics. Animal tag is by far the most innovative and mechanically intense part of the game. 94/20 great for the animal lover in your life.

This game changed my outlook on life. When Skeeter the snake told me about the glorious coils of the beyond, I knew I couldnt go back to the man I was. Anyone going into this experience has to know that it is an allegory for modern capitalism in american society. Mr. Baldini represents the man as he tries to suppress the inevitable and glorious proletarian revolution. Im also pretty sure he called me a racial slur. Once you get to the zoo, you are greeted by another ethnic stereotype as "Outback Al" orders you too return the animals he views as his property. This is doubtless a reference to Joseph Conrad's classic work Heart of Darkness, as Im like 90% sure hes a Belgian stereotype. The next pitfall of the borugeiosie scum is the food cart. I spent at least 50 minutes of my playthrough trying to solve the "cheese squiggly" puzzle. After that I met the monkies, who enjoy jazz and hanging out in trees. I tried using the rope to no avail. I dont want to spoil the entire game, so i'll only give you one last juicy tidbit of advice; To get the best ending, be sure to save the hippo instead of the snake. Only that way can you use his skin on the final boss. All in all, 4/10 it was ok I guess.

From this game forward, there is a noticable increase in the quality of games from Humongous Entertainment. The animation, writing, sound quality, art style, and almost every other element of these games just looks and feels SO much better than even the games that were released 1 or 2 years earlier.

As a result, this game is actually not too bad. Yes, it's still a kid's game, so it's not exactly challenging or even super interesting for us adults, but it's still pretty fun if you are playing it for the nostalgia. If you missed the HE bandwagon as a kid and want to see what the fuss is all about... well, personally I would skip Putt-Putt altogether, because the other series are a lot more fun for anyone over 8 years old. Regardless, this game is still pretty charming, and I think that most people can enjoy themselves even without nostalgia to provide extra hype.
