New Update and New Languages Available

Hello Everyone,

A new update for Freddi Fish 5 is now available which contains the following:

  • I have updated ScummVM from 1.6.0 to 1.7.0 across Windows, OS X and GNU/Linux.
  • opengl_nearest is the new display renderer. This provides really sharp looking graphics and also ensures 100% Steam Overlay functionality for Windows. It runs at your monitors current resolution.
  • I have completely re-written the shell launcher for GNU/Linux and implemented a new libraries system. This should allow for many more users of GNU/Linux to play the game and not just people on the latest versions of Ubuntu and Mint.
  • The Modern ScummVM skin now works on GNU/Linux. You can access the ScummVM menu by pressing CTRL+F5 (or Fn+F5 for Mac OS X) at any time.
  • ScummVM source code has been updated to 1.7.0. SDL source code is now included.

Also, I'd like to officially announce that the game is now availabe in French (Français), Dutch (Nederlands) and Russian (Русский) and the languages are free for all customers.

Enjoy the update and thank you for playing :)

Reviews

“Highly recommended--and not just for children--for anyone who loves old-fashioned, point-and-click, mouse-controlled adventure games with beautiful animation. If you have never before tried any of the Humongous products, then you are in for a pleasant surprise, and you may find yourself sneaking to the computer once your child is sound asleep.”

“I played with Clare for a lot of this game, not because she needed me to, but because we both wanted to. At 8 years old she would certainly be in the top end of the target audience, and my input into what to do next was negligible. She was able to work her way through all the conundrums, with only the occasional nudge. She thought that the game was "just right" as far as the challenges were concerned.”

“This adventure game provides kids with plenty of opportunities to develop problem-solving skills as they sleuth their way through a colorful underwater world.”

I LOOOOOVED this game when I was younger and playing it now, it's still really good! So glad it's on Steam because my computer can't play the physical CD copy that I have since the game is pretty old and the disc got scratched.

Its a very short game! but it was one of my favorites growing up. Im not sure if it was really worth the $7 seeing as how it only lasted an hour... but RECOMMENDING BECAUSE CHILDHOOD!

Hmm, so I guess I didn't actually play the entire series previously, as I have no recollection of this one at all. Was that good or bad, though?
Well, this one's much more like a traditional adventure game; instead of collecting macguffins to do one specific thing it's more one main quest and lots of subquests. It's also longer than the rest of the series, though also a bit slow-paced; there are a lot of screen transitions, enough that I started skipping them halfway into the game.I think that's the main problem; the hub town area is a long string of screens that would've been more effective as one large map with all the submaps attached to it. The randomization here is also not much more than the level of the last game; a few more puzzles change than last time but it's still much more linear than the second or third games were. All in all though still pretty solid, though not the best in the series (maybe because of my nostalgia bias for the ones I had played as a kid.)
