Riguardo questo gioco

Cult of the Wind is a game about people who pretend to be airplanes.

"In an unknown time and place, a cult that worships the wreckage of ancient airplanes gathers to mimic the dogfights of old. With the peak of humanity far behind, their world is a mausoleum to a lush and verdant Art Deco past."

In Cult of the Wind, players compete and cooperate in ritualistic multi-player human dogfights, complete with imaginary weapons, pretend explosions, and airplane noises made with their mouths. Shower your friends in a hail of imaginary bullets and proclaim, "I got you! You have to lie down," to which they respond, "Nuh-uh, I have a shield." You argue about whether or not airplanes can have shields, meanwhile some other guy does a cannonball onto your head while whistling. It's great.

With an intuitive point-and-click level editor you'll be able to craft new levels or modify existing ones, then immediately share them with anyone on a server, even if you aren't the host. You can also craft a personalized appearance for your character with numerous articles of clothing and more.

  • Simple, robust level editor
  • Instantly share your creations with others
  • Character customization
  • Dozens of imaginary weapons and abilities
  • Infinitely expandable content
  • Blindingly high-speed mock combat
  • Weird noises

This is probably one of the coolest games I have ever played. Sadly, I have only done so by myself.

It is a multiplayer game.

When I tried playing, directly during a huge sale for a game, there was literally one other person on a 200 ping server. The game's idea is great, but I have no idea if it actually delivers because I can't connect. Literally nobody plays it.

I decided to try Cult of the Wind and of course no one else was playing. The game has nice graphics, controls well, but thats about all I can say because there is no gameplay without other players. The content of the game seems rather shallow and perhaps the dev should add something other than simply running around pretending to be airplanes and shooting others like playing 'cowboys and indians'. Or maybe this needs to be free to play, but what the game is right now is definately not very viable. I would like to recommend, but in its current state its not worth the money. 5/10

This game could be a neat concept. People going around in plane costumes, shooting each other. What more could you ask for? How about a game that has activity? Thanks to the developers lack of updates and ways of keeping players coming on back, this game is dead, which is a shame. Even with Workshop, this game doesn't have much to offer. Don't bother.

Unfinished game before, unfinished game now.
Cult of the Wind is a game filled with great ideas but never gained the player base it needed nor did it feel like the developer supported it much.
The game is a flop. It had gained decent attention for it's peculiar trailers but that's all.
Don't buy this game,

A neat little shooter with a great style and sense of humor. It is in desperate need of some players. The other reviews stating that it is a graveyard are not exaggerations, there are no other people playing this game. I recommend it because it can be really fun when you have enough people on each team. Even if that almost never happens. Buy it in bulk when it's cheap and give some to friends to add to it's malnourished player base.

Multiplayer only game but was not marketed/developed correctly. Unable to really comment on the game because, literally, nobody plays it.

I felt so alone. Made my own game just to fly around a bit with my pin wheel hat, but with no one around to shoot or fight over the flag with I just became sad. I tried joining someone elses game first but both open games had 0/16.

No one played this in Early Access because it wasn't finished.
No one plays it now it's out of Early Access because it isn't finished.
I once played a match with three other people, that was a good day.
The game could be fun if more people played it, as of now it is literally a graveyard.

On the other hand I'm wearing a robe and box car plane with a propeller hat.

I like the idea, I found it hilarious when I saw the trailers. The graphics look unique and nice, it has a great sound design and runs smoothly on a potato.

Why the thumbs down then?

It's not a game, it's just a "bag of potential" sold for money. The game is practically dead (3 people being online at a time tops) and it's multiplayer only. I wouldn't buy it, unless you like running around alone in a mid-sized multiplayer map doing nothing.

I'm not pretending I'm an airplane.
I AM AN AIRPLANE.

It's a great game, but it's sad there are no players online whatsoever. Maybe if there was a bot mode there would be more of a community.

Before I begin I would like to point out I made this video on day one when it was very much early access with a very limited map and other features range.

At the bottom of the written review is a video which shows multiplayer gameplay of the main map some weapons and upgrades if you wanted to get a very quick glance that may be best for you!

So when I first saw this game I wasn't quite sure what to expect from it; I thought the concept was very interesting and I liked the cult story behind it where these people basically worship old recked airplanes. If you want to find out a little more in regards to the features then you should check out this guide: http://www.northofearth.com/cultofthewind/guide/

Visuals
Visually the game has a very basic simple cartoony visual style. This isn't necessarily a bad thing and helps it to fit in with the Art Deco style the developers were trying to adopt, the Art Deco style is indisputable with the various stereotypical Art Deco looks around the map(s). The clean look of the game helps you focus on the targets such as enemy fighters or flags. Graphics could generally be improved with increased polygon counts on various items around the maps.

Audio
Upon reading the guide for the game I was expecting the weapon noises to sound like people saying "pew pew pew" as we all did when we were kids. I was dissapointed to hear that the sounds are actually just ordinary stock shooting sounds not made with a human voice at all. I think this is something that has been overlooked and could possibly have removed some of the anticipated charm

Maps
Unfortunately on release the game only has one and a half maps. I say 1.5 because there is a finished and prototype map. The prototype map looks like something quickly thrown together just to get something else shipped with the game upon release. I find it odd that if the game has a map editor they couldn't get a few more maps finished before releasing it on Steam.

Temple of the Wind is the finished map and is quite pleasing on the eye. Generally it doesn't give you a feel of a cult setting, it seems far too nice, but due to it being a deserted temple you can get the impression that all isn't quite what it seems. It has 3 different levels to it all of which are accessible via staircases/elevators or jumping or with various speed / jump upgrades.

Sky-Top Prototype is a half finished map with no textures. It works with a capture the flag game mode where there is a neutral flag at one end that both teams have to run / jump their way to and then bring it back to the base. It still needs some work but I imagine the devs are working on this as I type.

Weapons / Upgrades
There is a nice selection of weapons and upgrades that can be picked up from various "kites" within the maps. These provide power ups such as extra jumping abilities or extra speed from quicker or more powerful weapons and one really insane rail gun. I think the weapons are fairly nicely balanced and I look forward to finding all the ways to counter each weapon / upgrade!

Game Modes
There appears to only be one / two game mode(s) so far in Cult of the Wind and this is Capture the Flag combined with deathmatch. Neither is seperate from the other so technically I feel there is only one game mode thus far.
It is possible to seperate the two game modes during server set up by inflating the amount of flags you require and reducing the amount of kills needed to win and wice versa. This isn't a perfect set up and it would be nice to see some more game modes in the near future.

Player Base & Connectivity
From my experience so far there isn't too many people playing the game just yet, but of course it is brand new and this will probably change quite soon, at least I hope so. I have managed to get into a server with just me and my friend but also both of us got into a server with other people without any issues which was very reassuring. It is definitely a game designed to be played with multiple people in the server all shooting at each other.

Round-Up
As I mentioned at the beginning this review was written on day one with only 2 hours experience of gameplay. I'm sure there will be many more updates coming out soon. I will recommend this game based on the anticipation of what is to come in the future. I think if you are going to buy the game try to get some of your friends on board too! The game is looking good and I hope more maps come out in the very near future!

If you would like to see visuals of how the game looks and some of the gameplay features that are not shown in the trailer I have a video on YouTube which may help you.

Cult of the Wind spent two months in Early Access - didn't change much during that time. Nor did it after release back in June 2014. Thanks to developer's incompetence at both building the game (clearly unfinished and lacking polish, I'd even say features necessary for such title) and any interest around it, it was dead on arrival as multiplayer-only game. Alex Allen (North of Earth) didn't bother trying to resurrect it.

Also, it seems fishy when someone friends with the dev who has only games of that particular developer writes positive review right after game is released on Early Access:

The game seems very dead, hardly any players if at all. It's a real shame, the idea is brilliant, visually it's not bad and it has a few items that'll leave you laughing at how ridicously silly the game is, in a good way. But it's very sparse on content. Not worth a full price of 9,99 Euro. If anything more 2,75. The OST is surprisingly the best in all of this, sounds like a proffesional has made it. Only downvoted because of price.

tl;dr: this game has a lot of potential, but it's too hesitant to embrace its ridiculousness. it's sitting between literally showing what the player's avatar is doing and showing what they imagine they're doing. we get to turn into flying plane-totems, but we can't see our bullets. we can get thrown into the air by powerups, but we can barely jump.

just picked this up. i've been tracking it since greenlight, and i thought it was a great concept, but now that i've played, i'm going to have to say the implementation's not great (at the moment). in fact, if nothing changes, i'll probably never play it again. i'm still giving it a positive review because it's in early access, i think it's an excellent concept, and it could be an incredible game, but it just needs some work.

my major issue with the game is that it is inconsistent. the main, underlying idea is that you're a group of people pretending to be airplanes, but there's the question of how that actually works out: for instance, on the less literal side, the game fits into a kind of pretend-magic system, where the player becomes a member of the cult of the wind, and sees their imagined dogfights as reality. on this side of things are several of the powerups: for instance, we can turn into totemic airplanes for a short duration, collect speed bursts, and get catapulted up into the air. we hear plane sounds, gunfire, and plane crashes, but we experience the joke of the game through our character models: they remind us that we're still just people running about pretending to be planes.

on the more literal side (cf. the game's description in the store), we as players see the real world, and we're not inside our characters heads. they're stuck off in their own worlds, playing a game that we can't see, so we just witness what they're physically doing. they're running around, jumping to no great heights (there's a little bit of floatiness, but nothing much), miming bullet fire, and are just generally limited by human capabilities.

now, the game could go either way; we could either see a game that's very literal about the player perspective, where we no longer turn into airplanes or get shields, or we could see a game that actually puts us in the head of a cultist. right now, the player can turn into a plane but they cannot see their bullets fly. they can get thrown forty feet into the air, but they can't jump more than a normal person. the player is limited also by the fuel resource; if you run out (without resupplying at randomly-selected powerups), you die. i hope the game fits into the second idea, because i won't be playing a game where people pretend to be airplanes: i could do that at my house. i want to be inside someone's head when they turn into an airplane and fly around.

(edit: saw i used "it's" incorrectly, had to change it.)

This is a fun game, no doubt, it just doesnt seem quite finished. Coupled with the fact that few people play, makes me feel like this game is wasted potential so far.

The good:
Visual style
Fun, wacky cocept/gameplay
Camping is no problem. To do damage you got be constantly on the move
Robust map editor for you to get lost in your creativity

The bad:
Little content. Only a handful of maps(which dont feel different frome each other, in my opinion)And too few customization options for your human airplane.
Almsot nonexistent player base
$15 or your regional equivalent

If you can get this game in a bundle at a reasonable price then that would be the only time I recommend buying it. At full price id advise you to pass up on it.
