Wow. Easily a top 5 worst game I own. Probably the worst one I've actually completed. Terrible Amnesia mod looking graphics, an idiotic story, and amusingly bad writing = this game is the cr@p fest total package. Cherry on top - the dev banned me on the forums within minutes of posting about how bad the game is. Such garbage I'm half tempted to give this a thumbs up instead.

Overcast : Walden and the Werewolf is a Western Survival Horror game.
You are Walden, an old hunter who lives alone in the woods, without any connection with the society, making nature his only form of livelihood. Walden began to be haunted by a mysterious creature that destroyed the village located near his cabin, killing every person residing on the premises. Now, Walden wants revenge.
Overcast is played in the first person, with your left hand perpetually holding a lantern and your right holding your useless weapon. Throughout the games nine chapters, which takes around 1 hour to finish, you guide Walden around as he solves extremely easy puzzles and shoots werewolves and other evil creatures. The game controls work well enough, with the exception of climbing ladders.
The graphics are extremely poor, besides of the annoying film grain that is overlaying the screen and impossible to turn off.
There is no voice acting, the story is told by the use of text phrases.
The only noteworthy aspect of this game, would be the music. The soundtrack is well done and serve as a nice background.
Overcast : Walden and the Werewolf is no horror game at all, it is an extremely poor game in nearly every sense. Unoriginal concepts, poor graphics and most importantly the game play is just no fun at all.
It is a waste of time and of money. My advice: Hands away!

Sounds 5/10
Graphics 2/10
Gameplay 2/10
Atmosphere 1/10

An hour long. Terribly boring. Terribly designed. Arguably the worst horror game I've ever played (and that's saying something). Its idea of scaring you is inverting the colors on the screen, playing a loud noise & showing random dead horses...not even joking. I can't believe I just spent an hour of my life playing through this trash. If you enjoy having a gun with a 10 second reload, having no checkpoints and dying in one hit to everything then by all means play it. The story makes no sense, you're thrown in random areas for the hell of it & it's just more frustrating than fun. The game itself is more disjointed than this review. I tend to find something good to say even for some of the worst games out there. This one, I can't think of a thing. I guess it's short so the pain only lasts so long?

Honestly, taking into account that it's a one dev's work, and, i presume, the first one of his, i'd like to give this game a thumbs up. But feels like it just wouldn't be right, and not recommending it is sure to save many players from dissapointment and the dev himself from offensive comments.
Though i can recommend it to those who like getting themselves in some new surroundings to walk through another short and primitive story and have little care for how bad them both were thought out. You'd even find a little pretty scenery(if you like that kind of it), slightly scary for noobs visual and sound effects and maybe a couple of other good things. But it won't add enough to make the whole game damn good. Can't say i'm totally dissapointed but looks like screenshots and description on the steam store leave much better impression than the game itself. And everything i relatively liked in this game was getting heavily damaged all the way by the boring combat, based on the idea to kill me twice an episode or a couple times more by primitive logical traps in how it was going on, and almost killed by the ending which was either(i'm sorry, mr developer) stupid or far beyond the limits of my ability to perceive why the hell it had to be ended that way, looking like a text description of a bad movie's promice to be continued(i'd even speculate that's what it is or once had to be).
There was a slight hope for an alternate course of the game story, (here goes a spoiler on a game story event): screaming woman, found dead in my playthroughwhich i don't believe in and don't feel like gonna check it right away i finish typing this. Maybe later.
Combat would be much better with twice faster reloading (compensated with additional enemies) and maybe an option to bash the enemies getting up close with the rifle's butt. A faster reload would also allow to leave the werewolf chazing the player in first contact without lingering on spot when animation shows he's running, which, i suspect was made with a purpose to grant the player a chance to survive with that slow reload.
To say more good about the game - it doesn't take too much time to play through and has no bugs - i only spotted a bot getting stuck against something he had to go round to attack me, twice at the same place.
Buy it on sale, if you're planning to give this game a try.

I had to stop playing it, because the obnoxiously loud and cheap jumpscares ticked me off.

It looks like they were going for nice a concept, a horror game set in the wild west(at least, that's what I thought they were going for, until I saw a ship that looked like it belonged in the Golden Age of Pirates), where you hunt down a werewolf.

But instead, it felt like they said "♥♥♥♥ it", and just threw crap in it that had nothing to do with the werewolf, like the giant snake you had to kill, and get one of its fangs for god knows what reason. It should be called "Overcast - Walden and the Werewolf, and a Snake for some reason". Plus, the storyline isn't even interesting, and the FPS gameplay is just plain dull.

The only reason I got this game(not through steam, if you get what I mean)was so I can get the soundtrack, because it is good. I mean, VERY good. It's literally the only thing that shines in this poor excuse of a horror game.

The motion blur is terrible.
The objectives aren't really clear say for go here.
The first werewolf you fight kills you no matter what, not sure how you're suppose to proceed.
Not worth it, even on sale. Sorry.

Not worth your cash. Best thing about this is the soundtrack, and that's free.

Now what is wrong with all YOU naysayers? I've pondered around your latest comments before(yea, also when on sale!) and when I've bought and played it the last few mintues I feel totally comfy with it! And when I see your commnets again, I was like, "wow, sinister". Yes you got your point but I've got mine, and this is just what a g*ngbang looked like and its making ppl sick(rather then a demo, perhaps?), and they will think twice before buy is all. The maker is an absolute and dedicated fan of classic boltaction rifles to his very CORE and thats just what I've always been, mind you lead sprayers thats something that made the Great Old Wars rather then Afghanistan and I-Rack. Absolutely smooth and well polished game! Use ULTRA graphics and you can see even the dents and sratches on the window frames! I myself don't see that often in a game. From my short experiuence(now just unlocked the second level) I feel no glitches or weirdness whatsoever. (Even the the fruits in the bask look quite nice btw, don't ask pls I had to say it) Why not say NO to all the half life one(dated graphics and sometimes very grinding, ie. figuring out how to start a time machine) fans and yes I completed that one without even being born in the right galaxy to have a strategy guide in the 20th century! You were trying to make this one good guy go out of business for good or what? He did it single handedly, as I heard! YEAH I root for this game and this dude, no matter what that even means. And think this way, all these neg comments won't make a better maket, because this game can be gone rather then better if you keep on shelling like this; but you very likely are going to to ruin one man's life(exagerating? shoot me if you have to) - NOW how does that compare to our bankers? And it IS creepy, dark and suffocating(I honestly prefer my room deco to be silent hill 1 cage style). Finally, this guy put in your hands a good o' rifle and a lantern that goes on longer then your battery-fed flashlight that dies every 1~2 mins in most games and you be grateful to him, and his work. ps: you really loved making that rifle, God bless ya.

A really amateurish effort that feels like a poorly made mod. The game starts out as a mediocre atmospheric horror game and devolves into a horrid FPS. It feels like the devs were running out of ideas or weren't really sure where to go after the fourth level. Don't waste your time or money on this one.

This game has a lot of pottential, but the execution from the devs comes up short.
Pros:
_some scary moments here and there
_fluid movement/ easy to control
_soundtrack is pretty good
Cons:
_Motion BLUR are EVERWHERE (90% of the time, the game will try to scare you by making some random blurry things appear in front of you/ this gets old pretty quick)
_FPS drops drastically in some scenes
_ Combat.. Your character is a veteran hunter, yet all he has is a latern and a rilfe which can only shot 1 PER ROUND (shot a bullet, then reload, shot another one, reload again).
_Game is too short even for indie game standard.

Game is OK but honestly overpriced (wait for a 50% sale).
That's why I give it a thumbs down - give it a look if you like the genre.

+
Original far-west setting
Soundtrack is really good
Weapon and its slow reload mechanic add some pressure
Good boss ideas

-
A lot of cheap jumpscares
Too much reflections on some textures (sometimes wood or bed sheets look like plastic)
Too short plus some levels can be completed in 2 minutes
Some puzzles are very simple and so is level design sometimes
Bugs with enemies' animations

This game, well there isnt much here. This game should be about 3-5 dollars. 8-10 is pretty much robbery. While this game possesses some nice jump scares here and there, the combat, graphics, and game animations are barely functional. Do not buy this game unless its dirt cheap and you feel like laughing at someones first attempt at animation. Most of this game is a joke, and by most I mean this game is maybe 1 and hour and a half long. Maybe. Its rather shameful that this is a released game and that there isn't more to it. Cannot in good faith recommend unless you are rich and have money to spend for the express purpose of laughing at how poorly a game can be made now adays.

Its a pretty bad game honestly, its very short aswell when I look at having finished a third of it in just a few minutes.

Mistakes
-Alot of jump scares, you even see those from a mile coming "oh gonna just go out of this here building after getting something" and somethign drops or the doors slam or whatever, as cheap as jump scares are..they are even mroe annoying, when you know that they are coming and guess what, they are never scary
-Bad atmosphere, I don't know why but there seems to be some kind of static constantly bluring the screen every few moments, annoyingly loud sounds in company to the bad jump scares destroy the entire atmosphere
-Ammo count, whats the point, when I get a full reload of Ammo in between missions than accidently shooting a bullet means nothing, here you could have had a real great way to build tension, if you waste all your ammo before finishing the game, well bad luck for you, but no jsut giving the player ammo back is simply a bad decission

Overall the gamedeveloper do not understand what makes a game creepy constant "BAH" soudns as something crashes or soemthign tumbles are annoying instead of scary, jump scares only work with thick atmosphere, when tension is suddendly cut and you are suprised, not every few steps.
It could have had potential, but it was wasted, I think the accident tumble of physic objects, that I created myself as I was rumaging trought houses, was more scary than constant jump scares, a horror game works when its subtle, not all in your face.

The only nice thing about this is really just the music.

I've played the game's alpha and hoped that something had changed for the better. Well, the stage were you have to run from the werewolf has actually improved, but everything else is just bad.
Instead of a horror game I received a horrible first person shooter were you have to reload after every single shot.
And the worst part is that most of the stages after the ones that were in the alpha consist of shooting.
There was a "run through corridors and kill some spioders"-stage or a "run in circles around a room and kill some spiders"-stage and a "run through a graveyard and kill spiders and skeletons"-stage and of course "defeat enemy hordes and die a couple of times"-stage.

And despite the fact that the story is nearly non-existant the final stage seems to claim otherwise and actually throws a deus ex machina cliffhanger at you. Sorry, but I'm not interested in how the story pans out! Especially not because the developers delete negative feedback on the forums.

This game was an interesting experience. But i honestly would not recommend purchasing it. The scares are not scary if you have actually experienced horror games, they will honestly make you lol by the end. It's such a cheesy game that it's hilarious to play. I got it for 3.39$ on The Summer Sale and i'm grateful that's all i paid for the game. There's no voice acting whatsoever, all of the story is subtitles except a few screams. I beat the game in an hour and half just goes to show how short it is, and that's with multiple deaths of the boss encounters. Interesting concept, i'd like to see the game remade one day, the story has potential if someone made an awesome game and bought the rights but as of now. No, just no.

Judge by yourself.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqQIok8CgUA&feature=youtu.be

Expensive for what it's worth. Does not beat amnesia, slenderman or the best horror fps game genre i've ever played Clive Barker's Undying. I only recommend it if your a horror fan and not tight on cash otherwise pass or wait for 4.99$ drop. Maps are small, graphic sub par, storyline lacking, game is short with only 9 missions. You can finish the prologue in 1.5 minutes
