Overcast : Walden and the Werewolf is a Western Survival Horror game.
You are Walden, an old hunter who lives alone in the woods, without any connection with the society, making nature his only form of livelihood. Walden began to be haunted by a mysterious creature that destroyed the village located near his cabin, killing every person residing on the premises. Now, Walden wants revenge.
Overcast is played in the first person, with your left hand perpetually holding a lantern and your right holding your useless weapon. Throughout the games nine chapters, which takes around 1 hour to finish, you guide Walden around as he solves extremely easy puzzles and shoots werewolves and other evil creatures. The game controls work well enough, with the exception of climbing ladders.
The graphics are extremely poor, besides of the annoying film grain that is overlaying the screen and impossible to turn off.
There is no voice acting, the story is told by the use of text phrases.
The only noteworthy aspect of this game, would be the music. The soundtrack is well done and serve as a nice background.
Overcast : Walden and the Werewolf is no horror game at all, it is an extremely poor game in nearly every sense. Unoriginal concepts, poor graphics and most importantly the game play is just no fun at all.
It is a waste of time and of money. My advice: Hands away!

Sounds 5/10
Graphics 2/10
Gameplay 2/10
Atmosphere 1/10

RIP Headphone users.

- One hour long campaign.
- Terrible models.
- Terrible animations.
- Glitches everywhere.
- Pretty much no plot.
- One jump scare every 5 minutes.
- The screen is blurred during 40% of the game.
+ I got it for free.
+ The last boss battle is so loud and has so many screen effects that it looks like one of those MLG montages.
- I hate those montages.

10/10 best Horror throwing simulation ever. Throw boxes, throw cups, throw chairs, throw crates, throw decapitated heads, throw arms, throw legs. Throw them all! With a few screamer scares sprinkled on top, nothing could go wrong!

$0.19 well spent

An hour long. Terribly boring. Terribly designed. Arguably the worst horror game I've ever played (and that's saying something). Its idea of scaring you is inverting the colors on the screen, playing a loud noise & showing random dead horses...not even joking. I can't believe I just spent an hour of my life playing through this trash. If you enjoy having a gun with a 10 second reload, having no checkpoints and dying in one hit to everything then by all means play it. The story makes no sense, you're thrown in random areas for the hell of it & it's just more frustrating than fun. The game itself is more disjointed than this review. I tend to find something good to say even for some of the worst games out there. This one, I can't think of a thing. I guess it's short so the pain only lasts so long?

Not worth your cash. Best thing about this is the soundtrack, and that's free.

Check out videos like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlv2dVr4R98 if you want the story.

Honestly, taking into account that it's a one dev's work, and, i presume, the first one of his, i'd like to give this game a thumbs up. But feels like it just wouldn't be right, and not recommending it is sure to save many players from dissapointment and the dev himself from offensive comments.
Though i can recommend it to those who like getting themselves in some new surroundings to walk through another short and primitive story and have little care for how bad them both were thought out. You'd even find a little pretty scenery(if you like that kind of it), slightly scary for noobs visual and sound effects and maybe a couple of other good things. But it won't add enough to make the whole game damn good. Can't say i'm totally dissapointed but looks like screenshots and description on the steam store leave much better impression than the game itself. And everything i relatively liked in this game was getting heavily damaged all the way by the boring combat, based on the idea to kill me twice an episode or a couple times more by primitive logical traps in how it was going on, and almost killed by the ending which was either(i'm sorry, mr developer) stupid or far beyond the limits of my ability to perceive why the hell it had to be ended that way, looking like a text description of a bad movie's promice to be continued(i'd even speculate that's what it is or once had to be).
There was a slight hope for an alternate course of the game story, (here goes a spoiler on a game story event): screaming woman, found dead in my playthroughwhich i don't believe in and don't feel like gonna check it right away i finish typing this. Maybe later.
Combat would be much better with twice faster reloading (compensated with additional enemies) and maybe an option to bash the enemies getting up close with the rifle's butt. A faster reload would also allow to leave the werewolf chazing the player in first contact without lingering on spot when animation shows he's running, which, i suspect was made with a purpose to grant the player a chance to survive with that slow reload.
To say more good about the game - it doesn't take too much time to play through and has no bugs - i only spotted a bot getting stuck against something he had to go round to attack me, twice at the same place.
Buy it on sale, if you're planning to give this game a try.

I had to stop playing it, because the obnoxiously loud and cheap jumpscares ticked me off.

It looks like they were going for nice a concept, a horror game set in the wild west(at least, that's what I thought they were going for, until I saw a ship that looked like it belonged in the Golden Age of Pirates), where you hunt down a werewolf.

But instead, it felt like they said "♥♥♥♥ it", and just threw crap in it that had nothing to do with the werewolf, like the giant snake you had to kill, and get one of its fangs for god knows what reason. It should be called "Overcast - Walden and the Werewolf, and a Snake for some reason". Plus, the storyline isn't even interesting, and the FPS gameplay is just plain dull.

The only reason I got this game(not through steam, if you get what I mean)was so I can get the soundtrack, because it is good. I mean, VERY good. It's literally the only thing that shines in this poor excuse of a horror game.

Absolute total utter trash. This game opens with a useless menu prompting you to click "game." That's right, "game." Once you open that it throws you to a level select where you can only pick the prolouge. The prolouge has admittedly a below average soundtrack that outshines EVERY other aspect of this game. The developers tried to use a Amnesia-esque grabbing and physics system, but it just simply feels wrong. Something about the objects feel like they are foam. The objectives are unclear to a point where the invisble walls guide you. Doors are opened by walking into them and not by any kind of grab, one point I think their grabbing system could've worked with since it doesn't require vertical movement. And worst of all, the flame animation. It's just terrible. This game is only good for gifting to your worst enemy and convincing them that it gets better in the end only to have them tear out their eyes in an attempt to get the terrible plato gun and lantern, with a smaller form of the flame animation found everywhere, out of the permanent indentation in their retina left by this terrible game. 2/10 at best. 3/10 if jumpscares are all you expect out of a modern horror game.

I guess this game is greenlight or early access, I am trying to keep that in mind. but really this has to be the worst game i have ever played. even if my best friend made I wouldn't complete the game. invisible walls, 1 round gun that is clearly a blot action rifle ( should be able to hold a few shots). and the effects that are in most the game makes it to hard to see anything you are doing. if the creator(s) work alot more on it could be at least a passable game. but as of right now I wouldn't tell anyone about this game. possiable failed project in the making.

I'll be honest here.. This game has tons of potential if this creator goes back to this to overhaul it. I think presentation wise it is a good effot to tell a simple story that half of it is told by just looking at how it plays through with your experiences. I grew up in an age when video games were still a new concept and we didn't have fancy graphics or complex gameplay with our games. But they didn't need to be complex to have the user understand the concept of what is going on and how to operate the game. Go ahead and try to play a coleco game or a intellivision game. You will see how simplistic games can be enjoyible.

The one thing I keep seeing about this game is its visuals . Whooptie big ballzy deal. Not all games are based on graphics. "Get that out of your head junior". Story wise I see complaints aswell. Tbh I like short simple stories and this one told a story and got its point across. "Maybe junior you need to get more of your edumacation on the understanding of arts"

Finally the music was well done for this. Now sound effects wise some were ok but I will say don't play the game with headphones on at full blast.. Some of the noises will be so overwhelming and loud it will damage something. I really would like to see this person make a sequel because the end sparked my interest with wanting more. Or expand upon what is here and make it better and fuller with the rest of the story instead of starting over from scratch.

Imagine a failed English major shoving toothpicks down your urethra. While he's doing this he's yelling in your ear and flashing your eyes. Everything about this game is terrible, the animations, the music, models, textures, sound effects, visual filters. In fact this game is so bad it isn't even good, it's past that, it's Avante-Garde. A true post-modern game.
