It's nice to see that even after coming out 12 years ago that someone would still tweak a game to make it easier on the eyes.

i dont see y someone is ranting on this. first thing thats great about this is the fix for maps, whenever you were walking on a bridge, you would have this ugly map loading area which is now fixed in this mod. also lighting fixes lots of gameplay and complexity to the half life fans. the best thing i saw was the different was the sky and fog in the sky chopper battle. you could almost say its remastered, but still could go better with enhanced graphics and textures which today looks a little old to modern games standerds

Awesome Upgrade:
This upgrade fixes some bugs and improves the original's image quality, without changing the original's style.
Also included is commentary and the achievement list seems to be separate from the original's.
Worth checking out for newcomers and veterans.

Hey so iv just downloaded the Half life 2 Update games. (The updated version of Half life 2) and everytime i go to the options menu to change the keypad setting and or buttons around, the games closes on me and wont work. (When i mean closes on me, it minimises on me) I click the link back to the game as its still running but i cant control anything, cant click anything. I have to turn my Laptop of and restart it all again but its the same everytime! i have a Mac Brook Pro and have completed all the Half life games and Portal games to date and have had no problems at all. Only with this HL2 Update game? If anyone has had the same problem and have any suggestions to this problem please let me know! Thanks

Pretty good. Close to vanilla HL2 (None of the hyperbole of Cinematic Mod). If you are going to play though hl2, recomend it!

A bunch of guys spend countless hours touching up the best game of all time - 14 year old gives negative review because fakefactory didn't ruin the art direction.

Sadness.

Makes the game look better. There isn't a reason not to install it if you want to do a new playthrough of hl2, modern pcs can run this easily.

Is it what it's supposed to be? Yes.
Is it what it could be? No.

It's really not that impressive.
It's sort of like the graphical quality difference between Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2: there isn't much of one.
Yes, certain things are more detailed, no, it isn't a total overhaul like they claim.
They certainly accomplished what they set out to do, though.

If you are really wanting some serious graphical improvement, check here: http://cinematicmod.com/
(Warning: The above link pretty much requires a quad-core processor, 8 GB RAM, and a GTX 970 or an R9 380. Also, while it would appear to only be a 20 GB download, it extracts to be 65 GB total. I would also like to warn you about some significant asset changes, many of which can be turned off, including overly-sexualized female character models.)
