WARNING FOR LINUX USERS

Warning for people wanting Sokobond for linux, it uses Adobe Air, which is no longer supported. The "latest" version of Air is about 4 releases older than the actual latest, and I cant even get it to install on Ubuntu 14.04. Its incredibly out of date and insecure

Its almost criminal that they claim linux support. The author made a comment back in July 2014 about modifying the install script, which still hasnt been changed. I would therefor not recommend this game to linux users

My brain is now puzzled. Even though you don't need any understanding of chemistry what so ever, if you enjoy puzzle games this game is most certainly for you.

At first glance, we may be reminded of the classic Atomix from the Amiga and C64 era. Apart from building molecules, this is an entirely different game that feels very unique and genuine. The staggering 144 levels will keep you busy for quite some time as it took me about 12 hours to beat. The puzzles themselves are easy enough for the average person to beat while not feeling silly doing so and difficult enough to challenge every mind. The basic premise is controlling one atom to move, bond, break, turn other atoms to complete a molecule - all within a set of boundary. The only letdown is atom variety as you'll only be seeing C, O, H, N and He which can and will get boring once you're close to completing the game.

It is worthy of mentioning that the game runs on Adobe Air and there have been reports coming from Linux users that it does not run on some occasions as Adobe has ceased linux support.
Although the game would greatly benefit from Steam Workshop integration, the developer has stated he does not wish to implement such features in the foreseeable future - a shame as user created levels would keep the game and its community alive for longer.

For the fan of the puzzle genre, Sokobond will quench a thirst for simple 2D puzzlers. The average gamer should give it a try as its addictive nature may surprise you playing it more and more. If you have a personal vendetta against these types of games - stay clear of this one.

Sokobond
Rating : 7/10

Educational puzzler about chemistry. Hard but it might be easier if you know what the bindings should. I don't care about atoms and such so not my kind of game. Recommended nontheless for those who love O, C, H etc.

If you fancy yourself fond of puzzle games you may want to consider taking a look at this one.

You control one atom per level and form bonds with other charged elements by using the electrons to cancel eachother out. Once all the free electrons have been eradicated the compound is formed and the level is complete.

There are many twists and turns added as you progress so prepare to get frustrated. I'm not huge on the genre and found this game quite challenging. (Fortunately for me you don't have to be a chemist to play this game as I assume it only loosely borrows it's core mechanics off the bonding of elements.)

I love puzzles but I usually play them in small doses.

The two hours I've played Sokobonds were in one sitting and I stopped because it was getting late. Fun and addictive.

Addendum: The facts on the bonus levels are hilarious.

Sokobond is an excellent puzzle game. It is a psuedo chemistry game where you have move an atom around a grid forming molecules by touching other atoms.

The game requires precise moves, in the right order to create the correct molecular bondage. It is so fiendish that it offers a real challenge and lots of head scratching despite providing an infinite undo.

The game is also nicely paced and the level menu is well designed, unlocking levels as you progress. I found it simple to pick up, and new concepts were introduced steadily.

If you're actually a chemist, I imagine Sokobond would be a bit disappointing. It's a puzzle game first and foremost.

There are only five types of atoms, running from zero to four valence electrons. With a grasp of organic chem, you'll have the advantage of immediately knowing your target molecule. The challenge is in figuring out how to bond these atoms in a confined 2D space. It can be utterly frustrating but so very addictive.

Sokobond is a great little puzzler that teaches you about chemical bonds. These kinds of games have the special potential to engender a sense of both mental exercise and relaxation, which, in this case, are fostered in Sokobond's spirit of curiosity, well-apportioned puzzle design, and crisp minimalist aesthetic.

Really enjoyed this game, well made puzzles (you do not need a working knowledege of chemistry, however it does help some and makes it more enjoyable). Some of the puzzles are very tricky, they appear very easy and can stump you really fast. Gives a feeling of accomplishment after each puzzle and its nice how you can go to another area when one does stump you, so you can just come back later. overall very well made and fun game.

This game is genius!

I'm not the kind of person who useally enjoys puzzel games but this one really does it for me. You don't need any knowledge of chemistry or maths to play this so it's easily accesable. Once you work out how the game works (not hard) i'm sure you'll love it.

Brilliant little game that teaches chemistry via molecule construction. Unlike SpaceChem, you do not know how exactly the molecules should be constructed. You only know how many atoms can be joined to each atom (by the number of little circles swirling about it). This game combines having to construct the molecules with having to carefully navigate obstacles, while avoiding unwanted connections. As the game progresses you get additional options like the ability to cut links using cutting intersections, but sometimes this hinders more than helps. Overall an impressive and very well thought out game. Highly recommended.

Sokobond is a surprisingly relaxing puzzle game with great mechanics and lovely aesthetics. If you are buying this game because of its relation to chemistry, it should be noted that the chemistry elements sit in the back seat while the puzzle elemets are front and centre. First and foremost, this is a puzzle game. But a very pleasing one at that.

Overall, as I said, it has been rather enjoyable and relaxing, and to anyone that enjoys puzzles, this should be a treat.

A deceptively simplistic yet infuriating puzzle game, based upon the atomic bonds found in chemistry... I think. In all honesty it's been a while since I was in school and I've forgotten most of that stuff.

But Sokobond can help you learn some of it again! Most of what you'll learn will be trivia about certain chemicals, but that's still educational, right?

Nevertheless, good for a few hours entertainment, and more captivating than some AAA games out there, with a minimalistic art style and an ambient soundtrack. A nice way to relax.

I love puzzle games, but it can often be hard to find ones that aren't too easy, but that won't eventually give you a brick wall that you can't seem to get around. Sokobond is the perfect balance; it is the right level of difficulty from the very first level and while it will likely give you a good challenge, you won't get so frustrated that you'll never open the game again. Instead, you'll keep coming back for more.

It almost made me miss taking chemistry class, and that's impressive.

Overall, I liked the game. Everything is nicely done, it's a well designed puzzles with lovely aesthetics. The only thing I could carp about is educational aspect of Sokobond. You, basically, just play puzzle. There are interesting facts about certain chemicals after each puzzle, but you tend to rush through them, as you want to advance to the next level.

beautiful way to make a puzzle game. easy to play and each level is extremely well made, so much time and planning must have went into this.

wonderful if you're a fan of slider puzzles. no chemistry knowledge required, it might be helpful but the design is intuitive. everything makes sense right away, no timers either!

just a nice little game for basically anyone

(if you're colorblind, everything's well labeled and the colors are only cosmetic, no matching light green to light blue with a 3 second timer. if you can't see the border colors though that might be a major issue, maybe leave a comment if you can just to verify <3)

In an era where "innovation" means adding micropayments to a 15-year-old franchise, Alan Hazelden finds a unique mechanic, dresses it up in a design so crisp it comes with vinaigrette dressing on the side, and presents it like it's something he does all the time. Which it is, because he's some sort of puzzle-game-making superhuman.

If you don't play this game, you're not allowed to say you enjoy puzzle games to anyone ever again.
