What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“ROCKETSROCKETSROCKETS is a game meant to be played between friends, in a variety of different playstyles, over a range of experience. Even from the most basic prototypes, our development team simply isn't big enough to cover all of those bases!

Early Access allows us to get the testing, feedback, and direction that we wouldn't be able to otherwise obtain.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“ROCKETSROCKETSROCKETS will remain in Early Access until May 1st, 2015.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“When ROCKETSROCKETSROCKETS first launched on Steam, it was a a beautiful game that got everyone who played it excited; we were happy with it, and considered leaving it just as it was, but we thought that we could continue working on the game in Early Access and make the experience accessible to many more people.

The final product we envision is a much larger product with many more features. We aren't sure how many of those will turn out to be fun or what it will look like, but we guarantee we'll make the best game we possibly can.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“It's nearly launch-time! We're polishing up a last few details (like tournament support), and have a few things queued up for post-launch updates, but the game is pretty solid right now!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game first launched at an inexpensive price point (as the game was naught but a baby prototype!) and has been rising in price throughout development. We are now at our final launch price of $12.99 USD.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our team of rocket scientists hangs out on the Steam forums and goes to all the big North American gaming-gatherings to harvest feedback and make sure the game is heading in the direction that our fans want. We strive to constantly improve the game and make things as great as you can imagine it to be.”

Reviews

“People sat down and played that movement demo for hours on end, and it was just the beginning. The game is fast, frenzied, and gorgeous even in these early stages. With a bit more polish, it could become as addictive as Towerfall and Nidhogg.”
Hardcore Gamer

“I’m ga-ga for rockets.”
Big Sushi

“The agility of these rockets belongs in the Luftrausers universe, where survival is only possible if you can stall your plane's engines and turn on a dime in mid-flight. Get to grips with that and you can dance.”

I looooove ROCKETS ROCKETS ROCKETS. Great couch-multiplayer. I often sit down to play a couple games and then just get sucked in for the night. It's fun to have a bunch of people all yelling and gasping at the action but I hate passing off the controller to another player. I wan't to playyyyyyy

Really enjoyable game, especially with freinds. Awesome developement comunity, every time i play it again theres a new update.

Amazingly responsive controlls, visuals like being slapped in the face with a rave in the best possible way.
Definately worth the $5 but if you want you can wait for a sale, picked up this gem of a game for a buck.

Awesome gameplay, awesome visuals, awesome soundtrack, and overall just a great game. It still has much more polishing left, and things to be added, but in it's current state, it's still addicting and fun.

8.5/10

One of the best couch multiplayer games I've ever played. Single player available too but nothing beats a rocket, shooting a rocket, at another rocket (owned by a friend) and then yelling "HA!" in their face. Awesome visuals and amazing soundtrack. A definite must-buy for action-loving, friend-shaming, rave-going players!

You are a rocket using rocket to kill other rocket and maybe bomb... or another type of rocket.
It gets even better when you get up to the part about the rocket but honestly, I'm not sure not enough rocket was applied.
9/11. Needed a tad more rocket

Great game.

The art style is nice, the concept is amazing, and the game feels really new too. It has a nice flat UI that looks pretty and responds nicely. It isn't too cluttered but has it's options.

It's a very simple little game where you are a rocket and you shoot missiles, bombs, and explosives at other missiles.

Basically you dogfight with rockets. Fun.

It's like Geometry Wars and Starwhals had a love child and Geometry Wars has custody.
My only gripe is the epileptic seizures from all the vibrant color.

And I love getting epileptic color seizures.

This shows promise and I hope to see more for the full release/10

Although its in early access, ROCKETSROCKETSROCKETS is hella fun in its current state. This game is faced paced. Really fast. You'll dodge mines, rockets, and bombs by the skin of your teeth constantly. The AI is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and will beat you many, many, many times. I've played for over 10 hours and it still kicks my ♥♥♥. The art style is attractive and easy on the eyes. Only problem so far for me is navigating the menus at first, but you'll get used to it.

Hellas
  • Slick visuals
  • Invigorating music
  • Great gameplay
  • ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AI

Non-hellas
  • Menu navigation

10/10 would shoot rockets again

Dear Steamers,

Fun game and the music as well as the neon theme really come together nicely with the high-paced close encouters when firing rockets from your rocket at other rockets that are firing rockets at you.

All the rockets!

Would buy again, especially with the achievements add wioth the recent update.

Sincerely,
-Nameo0

PLEASE READ THE EDIT BELOW

Keyboard controls in Module 3 ♥♥♥♥ me off.

I have no controller that I can use on this game, so I used the keyboard in module 2. Which, although hard to find, were easy to use after very little playing. With Module 3, they made the game much more flashier and amazing, which I enjoy for the most part. However, the new keyboard controls are ridiculous, especially if you played often in Module 2. They migrated the movement keys from WASD to the arrow keys, so now I have to use my left hand for movement instead of shooting, and vice versa. The new shooting controls were swapped entirely, which pisses me off even further.

So, for Module 2, 9/10.

For Module 3, 5/10. Do not recommend the current version. Play module 2 instead if its possible.

EDIT: I apologize, the game elements I had mentioned early have now been fixed. It is now possible to edit your controls in Module 3. Because of this, I give this game 9/10. This is a great game, and definitely deserves more attention than it currently does.

In my view, the best indie game I've ever played so far.

It's a simple game where ROCKETS shoot several explosives at other ROCKETS.
Yet it's energetic and how the beats fit to the awesome music is just gorgeous.
I always get pumped up by playing this.

You can play alone with the AI or with friends in local multiplayer.
The AI is also pretty good and merciless. You may lose a lot in your first tries.

It's recommended to play with a controller. Your hands may hurt after playing a few rounds with the keyboard.
The game is still under development: Full 4 player support and online mode are coming soon. (Keep in mind that online mode is not 100% comfirmed yet and may not be in the final game. But it will, most likely.)
The development is slow, but it's understandable since it's a small team.

You can also go to the "experimental" stage by selecting Betas in the Properties from the Steam Libray to jump straight into the development and test the new features before they are officialy released.

I totally recommend this game to everyone! Just give it a try.

A fun couch game, excellent with friends and comes with a worth AI opponent for those without extra controllers. Development is moving, albeit slowly. The developer listens, I can see it turning out well.
