The best part about this game was when I uninstalled it. Seriously, I must have been drunk when I bought this. Almost every negative review is correct about this one.

    Voice acting = bad
Graphics = bearly ok for a 2006 game
Animations = bearly ok for a 2006 game
Computer AI = I question the "Intelligence" part in Artifitial Intellegence: even for a 2006 game.

Price = under $5 (would suck ever if free)...

    Install = half hour...

    Playtime = too long...

    uninstall = priceless.

Having the cleaner voice of Rogue Warrior and gameplay elements of Max Payne, should not play unless you have at least stomached all COD and BF singleplayers

Really average game, you should stick with Max Payne who is clearly the inspiration for this game.
It's was fun for a while though, buy it only if it is on sale and really cheap.

Who's butt kicking narc who can slow down time?
    El Matador!

Who's the crouch walking cham who is always low on ammo?
    El Matador!

Who's game is a rough rehash of third person shooters with balance issues and bullet sponge enemies?
    El Matador!

'El Matador' misses the target in the attempt to make a time slowing, gun toting, 3rd person action game. Weapons feel weak and ineffective against enemies while your AI companions are basically there to provide ammo when the inevitably die.

Kids, if you do drugs, you get killed. By a policeman. On the killstreak. In bullet time.

+ : controls, ok story, immortal protagonist (if you play on easy lol), lots of weapons, bullet time, ok price (sale purchase recommended), loads of fun (running around shooting baddies n stuff)

    - : old graphics (it's an old game), it's short (2 hours +- on easy), routine-like game (you go somewhere, you kill everyone, you move to next place) [but its fun to play]

    6-7/10 would run'n'kill again

Considering you can't even play the game I wouldn't recommand this game to anyone. Developers have known about the issue and fail to fix it.

Nice game, sometimes i´m enjoying these tropical settings, in case that im not able to afford me a real vacation:)

Though the game is a bit short, but quite challenging the towards the end. if you like 3rd person, consider it to be worth to
    play.

Max Payne´s ugly little brother no one knows from 2006 is now avaiable on steam! Do you need this game? If you completed the Max Payne Trilogy, yes.
If not, play the New York Cop shootouts first and then enjoy this B-Movie Max Payne.

You play as Victor Corbet, a DEA Special Agent that is being sent to southamerica to fight against a drug cartel. The cops down there don´t like you at first, they give you the name matador, you shoot a lot of bad guys, a few traitors are also in the "plot", the game is straight forward (like Max Payne 2, same Engine by the way) with a lot of stupid bad guys to kill.

Don´t expect some revelutionary gameplay, smart AI or even a balanced difficulty.

This game got B-Movie written all over it, but thats not a bad thing actually. The game was pretty funny when I´ve played it over a friends place in 2006 and it is still a fun game today.

I remember seeing this game when it first came out back in 2006 and I have always wanted to play it. Now that is has arrived on steam, I have finally had a chance to play this budget third person shooter. The best way I can describe this game is a max payne rip off with early splinter cell style graphics. The gameplay is almost identical to that in the first max payne(slightly less refined), with the character movements and even the bullet time effects being a direct copy. Its not quite as good as the max payne series, but for 3.99 its definately worth it.

If Max Payne was a movie it would be a gritty version of Lethal Weapon/City of God/A man on fire/Heat. If El Matador was a movie it would be something like Tango & Cash/Elite Squad and something with Steven Seagal, a cheap enjoyable action flick.

Is it an amazing game ? No.

Is it better than Max Payne? No.

Is it a fun action shooter with smooth gameplay and full of cliches ? Hell to the yeah.

Its fun, its fast, its cheap and its waiting to be picked up and played.

This is not your typical AAA budget game, its mix between Max Payne and all of those B action movies from 70s,80s,90s, story line is your standard Steven Seagal action focus, and its there only to justify huge amount of baddies you will gonna kill. You will probably find here all Clichés of those movies, you know, good cop, bad cop, bad general, one action hero and so on.

    But

If you think its bad, IT`S NOT, its really good, just like i said its not AAA budget game but it has it charm, responsible controls and overall very fun and pleasant gameplay, and that`s what is most important in game for me after all, graphic its kinda decent doesn`t hurt your eyes still and audio is also very nice, kinda repeatative after while but it`s fast, its building your action very well and does not make you wanna cut your ears and throw them into lava.

Its very short game, it will probably take you only around 3,5-4 hours on normal bit longer on hard.
Speaking about dificulty level - you will gonna die in this game, good thing, bad thing, my opinion, your opinion, whatever. Point is its one of those games where enemies may not be the smartest (-ain`t the stupidest too-) but they have perfect laser eye accuracy and they will shoot your head from miles away with their shotguns, after hour you will probably get use to it though.
Speaking of which you will probably ending up cheating too shooting from behind crates (yes your weapon can shoot through objects if you point it well).

It has flaws, it has good things, but after all its very nice fun factor and i do recommend you guys to buy it when its on sale or pick up in bundle, its worth those few pennies. frankcastle51 out.

It's definitely not as bad as the reviews say. Not as good as any Max Payne game of course but still a decent, fun shooter, especially for only 99 cents.

    NOTE:
THIS GAME HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MOVIE EL MATADOR!!!

Game is similar to max payne but only with the slow motion.
    AI teammates, ACTUALLY KILL PEOPLE!
Game is a great 3rd person shooter. Only down fall is, its one of those games once you beat it you wont ever play it again and you can can beat the game pretty quick.

    Regarding the question....."Is it worth?

I would say yes. I have played this game when it first released and remember it being plenty fun. Back in the day, I had a very bad rig (Intel Celeron 2.6ghz, Geforce 6200 256mb, and 1.5gb ram) I was lucky to run this game here lmao.

In terms of fun, its there. It borrows the Bullet Time that Max Payne is famous for and uses it in its own form, even though there is a lot of similarities.

Replayablity? I dont think so. It has its nice campaign but for the aficianados like me, yes lol.

Worth? 4 dollars, are you ♥♥♥♥ting me? If you are worried about 4 dollars, you wont find it here. As far as I know the worst games to invest in are Infestation Stories, Bad Rats, Rambo and a couple of other ones.

If you are interested in 3rd person shooters and adrenaline packed shooters, this is an investment you will like.

I will update this thread as I play the game now and let you know about 16:9 support, controls, test of time and all of that.

    Any questions, let me know!

UPDATE 1: Out of the bat, the game supports widescreen resolutions and multiple refresh rates up to 100hz. Really good for a game this old.

Difficulty: Really unforgiving lol. This game isnt impossible but it doesnt take it easy on you. You need to play this on normal and forgive its laser accuracy that enemies possess.

This game is painfully similar to Max Payne 2. They borrow the engine (I assume?) and have the same exact sound effect of the ingrams from MP2. Its ridiculous. Loosely based on the game. So dont be surprised if it reminds you of MP2!
