Dark Lore Mysteries is a Hidden Object game with a slow moving story that isn't very challenging. It took me 2 hours to beat (I was watching TV the whole time, so may be able to power through in 1 hour) but the graphics are decent.

Dark Lore Mysteries: The Hunt For Truth is a solid effort in the HOG genre. It doesn't do anything particularly well or unique, but it doesn't do anything badly either. The voice acting, graphics, and sound are all average to above average, the story is a familiar one with a slight twist at the end.
There's very little negative to say about the game, other than the fact that there are a lot of HO scenes, bordering on too many, and not enough puzzles, and one of the HO scenes was annoying due to the fact you were asked to find a "flower" in the scene, when the scene contained multiple flowers, and you had to keep clicking until you found the one it wanted.
A short game with a abrupt (rushed?) ending, but overall worth picking up if you like HOGs.

Hidden Object Game telling the story of the legendary Vlad the Impaler and his quest to bring his dead wife back to life. The HO scenes are good enough and there are some challenging puzzles, the possibility to customize the difficulty settings is a nice change from similar titles. Unfortunately the game is extremely short (less than 2 hours at highest difficulty!) and the story could have been interesting with more depth, but the end is abrupt and disappointing. The graphic design is not terrible but some objects are difficult to spot because of lack of detail, no achievements, no extras of any kind....buy it on sale only.

Easy to play puzzler with some nice narrative twists, only marred by being rather short, though worth purchasing when on offer. 74/100

I bought this game on a steam sale, I was hesitant even then due to the poor ratings. It was a pleasant enough game, the storyline seemed a bit shaky but the hidden object scenes and puzzles were of decent quality. I had a few tiny bugs of the game not registering when clicking on objects but otherwise I had no problems. If you are able to find this game on sale, I recommend it. Happy gaming!

Great game. I enjoyed playing it. Lots of HOGs and puzzles. Some harder than others but all doable. I give it a 7 out of 10.

Average point&click and hidden-object game.
Few puzzles, mostly HOS.
Don't like its graphics.
Boring, IMHO.

TL;DR: don't recommend the game; do recommend that some graphic designers be sacked.

After playing for about an hour, I was going to give this a positive review. Seemed like a pretty typical hidden object game, nothing spectaculor, but it had well-designed hidden object scenes, a good ratio of hidden object scenes to puzzles, and a customizable difficulty setting -- which is a big plus in my book.

Unfortunately, as I continued playing, the hidden object scenes started getting sloppy:
  • some obvious white outlines where objects hadn't been properly cut out
  • poorly skewed/resized images
  • more objects that didn't fit in the time period or aesthetic
  • the same object images being repeated in multiple scenes
  • multiple objects that fit the given description, but the game only accepted one of them

There's also some of the usual flaws of the hidden object genre -- like when you come across the murderer while he's trying to kill someone, and he just stands around waiting while you go back to mess around with puzzles trying to find the object you need to stop him, because HOG developers somehow can't accept that this is not a genre where you can create a sense of real-time urgency -- and an overall weak plot. I don't mind that so much, but the lazy hidden object scenes in the second half of the game are a dealbreaker.

This game is squeaking by with a recommendation only if you can find it on sale, because it is very short and there are some minor issues that bothered me.

This is what I term an "Artifex Mundi" style of hidden-object/puzzle game in that there is a combination of hidden object, inventory management, and mini-game puzzles to solve. The game is not particularly difficult and as I mentioned, it is quite short. The plot isn't spectacular, which doesn't bother me too much personally but might be a turn-off for people used to the story quality of more recent AM games. The voiceover work is cringeworthy but blessedly limited to a few cutscenes and some dialogue at the beginning. Graphically it's not great but I've seen far worse, so I thought it was fine overall.

So overall, not a spectacular addition to the HO/puzzle genre, but not actually that bad either. I picked it up on sale for 75% off (making it only a little over a dollar) and don't feel at all regretful, but I wouldn't have liked to pay a full $4.99 for what I got.

Meh.

The story is a little cheesy but that’s a given with most HOGs. It just definitely isn’t the most exciting and when it got to the end I didn’t even really understand who was who or what was going on to be honest. It just wasn’t gripping enough for me to care (although I do have a short attention span, to be fair).

HOG wise it’s alright, the objects are easy enough to find and I personally had no problems with how the items were proportioned/photo shopped in.

I did find myself backtracking a bit because it took me a little time to get used to the mechanics. It wasn’t all that clear when you were done with an area and some things you had to interact with just weren’t giving any indication. No cursor change or anything. I was on “advanced mode” so maybe that was why, but nothing in the description for the mode really hinted at it just straight up not telling you things were interact-able and it only happened with odd things.

All that and it crashing a few times (no progress lost, just tedious) just brung me to the conclusion of it just being meh.

I wouldn’t go as far as to call it bad but I also wouldn’t really go as far as to say it’s good either. There’s better out there, this is just something for fans of the genre that want to widen the library, I guess. I’ll still up vote it just because it’s not THAT bad.

TL;DR : It’s meh.

It's not a bad game. The detective story is decent and the items and puzzles are surprisingly meaningful.
However, there are too many downsides:
  • Very bad graphics and lack of animations. It looks like a game from 2001.
  • It's very short, I've finished it in about two and half hours.
  • There are way too many hidden-object scenes.
  • The "helmet placement" puzzle is broken and can't be solved. Skip button saves the day.

A very short, mediocre hidden-object game. There are better ones.

The story makes very little sense and there is no character development. Otherwise, the graphics are nice and the hidden puzzle scenes adequate.

The story didn't make much sense at all. My character drew a conclusion about who was guilty and I barely even knew who the person was.

The HOG part was fine, standard. I found sometimes the items I clicked on wouldn't register.

The puzzles were pretty typical, although some were buggy. There is one puzzle where you have to draw lines between a peg and a hole using the mouse and it would constantly reset for unknown reasons as soon as I got close to the end. Very frustrating.

There are definitely much better games available.

Decent game. Kinda short and a bit simple but the story wasn't too bad and was interesting enough for me to want to finish the game.

I'd recommend grabbing it on if it's on sale, the game is a bit too short for me to say it warrants the full price tag, even if five dollars isn't a lot. However, if it is on sale and you enjoy hidden object games with a fair amount of puzzles then grab it up.

It's one of those games where I'm not going to say yay or nay. It started out good, loved the atmosphere the settings and background music not to mention an intriguing mystery. However, somehow it got repetitive and the story unfolded in an unorganized and rushed manner. I'll give it a yes as to give you a chance to judge yourself. If it's on sale get it's a short one and you might like it.
