The scene is set with a man laying on a sacrificial table about to die when something falls from the sky. The next thing you know you are now playing the part of a woman who is just interested in leaving a jungle village in her plane, but it would appear that the plane is nowhere close to ready to leave. This is when all hell breaks loose and the village catches fire. I have to say not a bad way to start the game. Now of course you have to know that to truly escape, you are going to have to do much more than just get on the plane. There is an evil force threatening to take this world, and it would seem that you are not just an ordinary person but one who is chosen. You will use items around you, and solve puzzles that block your way, the only question is will you be fast enough, and smart enough to survive.
Graphically I have to say that for the most part you are looking at the middle of the road game, there are times where some of the scenes look a bit dated, but it's definitely not going to stop you from playing the game, and the puzzle parts to the game look pristine, and once you figure out what the solution is, you will see that graphically this game will suffice. I think my biggest issue, graphic-wise, is the character models of those you meet, that's when the game looks dated, or perhaps the better way to put it is that all the models look fuzzy/blurry. They just don't seem to actually blend in with the rest of the game.
The music in the game is subtle but definitely feels like a part of the game. There's also the occassional interaction with other characters, which I am glad to see are voiced, and the voices work with the characters.
The controls of the game are really straight forward you are going to be pointing the mouse and clicking to pick up objects, to solve puzzles, and to change locations.
For the most part once you start playing the game the transition and game going along smoothly, there was only one or two times where I could not figure out what I needed to do, or how I was going to get past a certain part. There was also a refreshing variety of puzzles to sink my teeth into. The foundation of the story is something that has been used over and over again, but that did not take away from the enjoyment I had playing. I also did like the fact that if you were in an area that didn't hold any importance at the time and you clicked on the hint button it would simply tell you to leave that area, and you could rinse and repeat that action until you were in an area where you might have missed something. The other BRILLIANT part to this game is the entire time that you are playing you are adding information to your map, so if you know you have to go four screens over, or perhaps into a different part of the game, you could fast-travel. WHAT A CONCEPT!! This definitely made things easier when where I needed to go would have taken several screen changes. You also carry a journal, that for the most part I never used, but it did hold information that could prove useful when in a bind.
As much as I enjoyed my time playing this game, the overall experience was actually kind of short. I believe I spent a total of two and a half-ish hours on this game from start to finish. So in a way you are going to be hungering for me, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I do not believe there is a continuation to this story, at least not at the present time. So in the end this game, though short, did do its job of entertaining me, even if it was not for long, and for that I give this game an 8.3 out of 10.
